Short Wait Time

I was a walk-in patient on a Thursday morning 11/17/2022. Everyone that I contacted during my visit treated me with respect and urgency. I walked in with extreme back pain caused by a fall. The team determined that I fractured a rib and provided treatment.

Highly Rated

This was my husband’s and my second visit to this HH Urgent Care facility. Our first was last February when my husband broke his wrist in a fall on the ice. This was a very positive experience considering the situation. We connected with the nurse there who was trained as a chiropractor and understood our desire to be as holistic as possible. Considering this was a broken bone with terrible swelling situation this was sill a highly satisfying medical experience. This week I sought treatment for myself at this same HH Urgent Care. It was an act of God that we partnered with Dr. Garett Shook who turned out to be a DO trained Pediatrician and Emergency Medicine Physician. He listened to my situation and my holistic desires, he was very compassionate and worked in partnership with me on my diagnosis and office surgery treatment. I explained I do best if he talked me through what he was doing and he was willing to do this, and did so. He immediately understood my desire to do the least medicine possible and he was agreeable to this. He made suggestions and gave me options, which I appreciated tremendously. He understood my desire to try to not take antibiotics if possible and his office surgery technique was very gentle and manageable. In spite of my high pain levels I felt highly satisfied with his treatment and left feeling that I wanted to find out where this physician practiced and see him on a regular basis. Surprisingly we re-connected a second time with the same male nurse (from our February visit) who remembered us from our first visit and we chatted again. In my Kalamazoo, MI past (I am age 68) I have not had a satisfactory experience(s) at an urgent care clinic; however, I can highly recommend this urgent care facility for its quality of care. It has been a five-star experience both times I have gone to HH Urgent Care.

Scheduled an appointment online. That was easy and quick. Waiting area was clean, receptionist was efficient. Nurse was friendly and personable. Dr was attentive, kind and patient. I felt heard and validated. He was able to diagnose and prescribe the needed meds. We have had nothing but great medical help at this location.

Getting Tested for STDs in South Haven, MI

Who should get tested for STDs?

According to the CDC, sexually active individuals, particularly those with multiple partners, should get tested for STDs regularly. It's also recommended for those who have had unprotected sex, shared needles for drug use, or have symptoms of an STD. It's important to note that many STDs can be asymptomatic, meaning they present no symptoms, hence regular testing is crucial even if you feel healthy.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a critical part of maintaining your overall health. STDs can lead to serious health complications if left untreated, including infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased risk of HIV. Early detection through testing can help prevent these complications and ensure prompt treatment. Moreover, knowing your STD status can help protect your sexual partners from contracting the disease.

Std testing options in South Haven, MI:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics offer a convenient option for STD testing. These facilities often have extended hours and can provide same-day results for certain tests. In South Haven, OptiMed Health Partners is a highly rated clinic offering STD testing services. You can book same-day and next-day appointments through Solv’s website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Your primary care provider can also conduct STD testing. If you have a longstanding relationship with your provider, it might be more comfortable for you to discuss your sexual health with them. However, appointment availability can vary.

Free STD testing and community health centers

For those without insurance or with limited income, free STD testing may be available at community health centers. These centers provide essential healthcare services to the community, often on a sliding fee scale based on income.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits provide a private and convenient option for STD testing. These kits can be ordered online, used in the privacy of your home, and then sent back to a lab for analysis. Results are typically available online within a few days.

Prevalence of STDs in South Haven

South Haven, located in Van Buren County, MI, is not immune to the nationwide increase in STD rates. While specific data for South Haven is not readily available, according to the CDC, Michigan has seen a rise in STD cases over the past decade. This trend aligns with national data, underscoring the importance of regular testing for sexually active individuals.

Risk factors related to STDs in South Haven

Risk factors for STDs in South Haven are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include unprotected sex, multiple sexual partners, and drug use involving shared needles. Additionally, socioeconomic factors such as limited access to healthcare, lack of education about STDs, and stigma around sexual health can contribute to higher STD rates. It's important to remember that anyone who is sexually active can get an STD, regardless of their background or lifestyle. Regular testing is the best way to protect your health and the health of your partners.
