Getting Tested for STDs in Fort Worth, TX

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs, especially those with multiple or new partners. It's also crucial for people who have experienced symptoms of STDs, such as unusual discharge, sores, or rashes in the genital area, to get tested. Pregnant women should also get tested to prevent passing any potential infections to their baby.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a vital part of maintaining your overall health. Many STDs can have serious health consequences if left untreated, including infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased risk of HIV. Regular testing can help detect STDs early, when they are most treatable. It also allows you to protect your partners from potential infection.

Std testing options in Fort Worth, TX:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics are convenient options for STD testing in Fort Worth. For example, CityDoc Urgent Care, located at 3020 W 7th St, Fort Worth, TX 76107, offers STD testing. You can book same-day and next-day testing appointments at these clinics through Solv’s website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Your primary care provider can also provide STD testing. If you have a regular doctor you see, they can be a good resource for testing and treatment.

Free STD testing and community health centers

There are also free STD testing options available in Fort Worth. Community health centers often offer these services.

At-home testing

For those who prefer privacy, at-home STD testing kits are also an option. These can be ordered online, done in the privacy of your own home, and then mailed back to a lab for results.

Prevalence of STDs in Fort Worth

According to the CDC, Fort Worth, located in Tarrant County, TX, has seen a rise in STD rates in recent years. This trend mirrors what's happening nationally, as STD rates have been increasing across the country. Comparisons with nearby counties such as Hill County, McCulloch County, and Tom Green County show similar trends.

Risk factors related to STDs in Fort Worth

Several factors could be contributing to the rise in STD rates in Fort Worth. These include a lack of sexual health education, decreased access to healthcare, and social stigma associated with STD testing. It's important to address these issues to help reduce the spread of STDs in the community.

In a doctor's office, a health clinic, or an urgent care center, you can get an STD test. If you're experiencing symptoms, it's best to visit a doctor's office, where they can also treat you or issue you a prescription. Your doctor may also take a swab from the inside of your cheek, your vaginal area, or another potentially infected place.

  • What STDs can be detected by a blood test?

Blood tests are used to diagnose hepatitis B, hepatitis C, herpes, HIV, and syphilis. In a laboratory, a technician examines a blood sample for antibodies that the body has produced in reaction to disease. The virus's DNA can also be detected by several blood tests. • Can I test myself for STDs at home?

Although there are several STD home tests available, not all of them are accurate. The accuracy of any STD test is determined by the quality of the sample taken. For home STD kits, a blood sample, a urine sample, or both are frequently required. Because doctors and nurses have more experience collecting samples, traditional in-office STD testing is the most accurate.
