Great discreet service, scheduled my visit and paid for for the test online not in Showed up at lab, checked in and was seen within minutes. Blood and urine were collected, test results came back quickly within 2 days because I did my test on a Friday. Quick, easy and cheap. Didn't have to wait for a visit to my PCP, and then get referral to lab.

The front desk attendant was not very pleasant. She just looked like she didn't want to be there and talked really softly, therefore,I could barely hear her. The COVID-19 test went fine. I just had to go back in for my results after 45 minutes due to the fact that I did not receive the phone call to tell me my results were ready. The test results were to take 15-20 minutes. I'm pretty sure they were back within that time frame, but apparently I slipped thru the cracks. Other than that all went well!

Getting Tested for STDs in Norfolk, VA

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs, especially if they have multiple partners or do not consistently use protection. It's important to remember that many STDs do not have obvious symptoms, so regular testing is crucial for anyone who is sexually active. This is particularly true for those in the age group of 25-40, who are often in the prime of their sexual activity.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a key aspect of maintaining your overall health. Not only can untreated STDs lead to serious health complications, but they can also be passed on to sexual partners without knowing. According to the CDC, regular testing can help to prevent the spread of these diseases and ensure early treatment if necessary.

Std testing options in Norfolk, VA:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics are a convenient and accessible option for STD testing. These facilities often offer same-day appointments, which can be booked through Solv’s website and mobile app. One such location is Doctor's On Call in nearby Virginia Beach, which has received a 2.18 rating from 19 reviews.

Primary care providers

Your primary care provider can also provide STD testing. This can be a comfortable option as they are already familiar with your health history. However, it's important to note that some providers may not offer all types of STD tests.

Free STD testing and community health centers

For those without insurance or with limited income, free STD testing may be available at community health centers. These centers can provide confidential testing and treatment, regardless of your ability to pay.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits are another option for STD testing. These kits can be ordered online and delivered to your home, providing a private and convenient testing option.

Prevalence of STDs in Norfolk

The prevalence of STDs in Norfolk is a significant concern. According to the CDC, Norfolk has seen an increase in the number of reported STD cases over the past few years. This trend is not only higher than the nearby cities of Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Bayside, Hampton, and Carrollton, but also exceeds the national average.

Risk factors related to STDs in Norfolk

Several factors contribute to the high prevalence of STDs in Norfolk. These include a lack of education about STDs, limited access to healthcare, and socioeconomic factors. Additionally, certain behaviors such as unprotected sex and having multiple sexual partners increase the risk of contracting an STD. It's crucial to understand these risk factors and take preventative measures to protect your health.
