It was easy to schedule an appointment. The provider I saw (virtual appt) was really nice, took their time with me, and answered a lot of questions. Wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Urgent Care FAQs

  • How much will an urgent care visit in Emporia cost?

The price charged at an urgent care, whether in Emporia or elsewhere, will be based on the location, and there are no actual standard costs between the clinics. Assuming you are paying with cash, you might come across an urgent clinic that charges you $50 while another situated some mile away charges you $100 for the same services. The standard cost in urgent care where insurance cover is not involved ranges from $100 to $125. This price is generally the standard price of a visit before extra services. There are a couple of additional care services that could make your appointment to an urgent care costly including x-rays and lab tests, medications and injections (such as immunization), casting broken bones, as well as stitches and splints. If you have a viable insurance plan in place, the standard pay will be between $20 – 50 depending on your insurance coverage and whether you are in contact with the provider.

  • What is urgent care?

Urgent care are available to assist patients that are looking for immediate, convenient medical care. In that manner, they are similar to an emergency room. The difference, however, is that ERs are meant to treat major, life-threatening injuries and illnesses while urgent care centers manage life’s minor bruises and bumps. In simple terms, an urgent care is seen as a walk-in health center that focuses in offering non-emergent health care conditions, including the treatment of the typical illnesses and injuries such as fractures and sprains, cuts and burns, scrapes, stings and bites, flu and cold symptoms, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, and much more. Most urgent care facilities offer both diagnostic and preventive care such as well visits, immunizations, STD testing and annual physicals. For regular visits and check-ups on these clinics, you should expect to pay between $20 and $100. The good thing is that most urgent care clinics will accept major PPOs and insurance cover, Medicare, as well as self-pay in the form of credit cards or cash. Urgent care clinics are located in most parts of the country in various regions to offset emergency room visits and provide a gap in healthcare services. They take patients during all hours of operations, which offer a significant convenience to most people who have and continue to undergo the need for sudden and immediate medical attention.

Recent Urgent Care Reviews (20)

We had a 3:30 appointment and weren’t seen until 4:45, but that’s what happens at urgent care, so I’m not surprised or blaming them. The staff was amazing and the doctor was phenomenal! I absolutely loved her, and if I lived in the area would go to see her more.

Everyone was super friendly. Check in was very easy and wait time was small. They are renovating their facility with more rooms so there's unfinished drywall but that's not an issue for us. Doctor was reasonable, knowledgeable, had a great bedside manner, and was efficient. Very smooth experience. We used to go to Velocity Care and had several negative experiences there so we will be coming to Express Family Care for our urgent care needs in the future! Thank you!

From the moment I walked in the receptionist put me at ease and got me checked in very quickly. The x-ray technician / nurse was so comforting and awsome. Dr. Hubbard was awesome , his bedside manner was the best I have ever seen in a physician! I just wish that he had his own practice! He would definitely be mine and my family's primary carePhysician!! I was shown great care, was in and out in a very timely fashion ! In fact my visit was faster than any other urgent care I've ever gone to ! I just found my new Urgent Care Center if I ever need them again! I recommend Next Care on Plank road to any one who may need to visit a urgent care facility!

- Verified patient on 10/24

The provider and the nurse were amazing. However check in was absolutely ridiculous. The person at the front desk said we would have a 45 min wait, not close to a 5 hour wait. I’d recommend this urgent care over others for how well they clean the room and keep other patients in a different area due to covid.

- Verified patient on 8/28

I’m super glad that I made my appointment online the day before. Provider’s bedside manner was great. He kept us smiling or laughing the entire time. Check out process was easy. It was just a LONG wait. It took 2 hours from the time we checked-in online until we walked out…& that was with an appointment booked. Other than wait time, everything was fabulous! I would definitely recommend this urgent care.

This was better than going into a dr office for a scheduled appointment. Check in was easy. Staff polite and professional and the PA that saw me took his time. Every time I use this urgent care center I’ve always had a good experience. The only thing that would make this better is if it were possible to discuss the reason for the visit with more privacy.

Was at the urgent care on Saturday Feb. 22, your front desk Rep. Is really good. Saw her work under a lot going on and she performed beautiful. Mantained calmed, with a positive attitude. Happy beautiful smile and very pleasant towards everyone that needed care. I was very impressed, we lack of such great service all over now days. She is a plus to this location. The nurses as well very pleasant staff.

- Verified patient on 2/22

The staff was great. I feel like wait time was long for a WALK IN but in all honesty it would have been much better if it was an appointment. The other urgent care and pt first had the same wait time. Loved that you could go home while in "virtual line" waiting to see the doctor.

Generally speaking I can understand why there is an appointment system now but I also feel bc it is urgent care it is quite frustrating to not be able to be seen for like two or three hours. I’m not sure if booking an appointment through an app it is as effective as adminstration may think it is. The PM pediatric in Ashburn is closer to my home but we can never seem to get in there given the new system. If is frustrating as a parent to have to book an appointment online via an app and have to upload insurance document each time. Herndon, without fail, I can get in quicker without any wait. I do not mind driving bc overall the service is always great. The service at Ashburn, when I can get I can get in, is also superb as well. Please take this feedback into consideration. Nonetheless, I do Thank you for your service as health providers and recognize these are trying times.

The staff always seems to really care about helping you feel better. They were a little backed up today so I waited longer than usual after being taken back into a room, but it wasn’t an unreasonable amount of time. I always choose this location for my urgent care needs!

Dr. Ravneet is amazing, one of the best primary physician in my opinion. she took 30 mins to understand my problem explained the treatment in details, She made me feel very comfortable, you can tell she really cares for her patients and she's very passionate about her job. I also like the fact I was able to FaceTime the doctor since during the covid situation the last thing I want to do is to go into a doctors office. I waited less than 5 mins before I was connected with the doctor. I will definitely be back for any urgent care needs and I also highly recommend Night Watch Pediatric to anyone in need of Urgent care.

After going to previous urgent care centers, this is by far the only one I will go to now. The staff is friendly from the receptionist to the providers and I always feel as though I am thoroughly cared for without feeling rushed in an efficient manner. Thank you so much for your dedication to your patients!

From the moment entered the clinic, I could see that there was a great team to help each patient. The young lady at the front desk was extremely fast, kind and helpful. The physician assistant and the doctor were also very professional and caring. It was a great experience and I highly recommend this Next Care Urgent care to anyone in need because I strongly believe that this is the best. Please thank all of them in my behalf

Mechanicsville BetterMedUrgent care I cannot imagine a bad review on this facility! They are wonderful! Very welcoming and efficient. Check-in process excellent. My son hurt his ankle pretty badly and wobbled in. They quickly got a wheelchair. X-ray tech so helpful and kind. Then checking out, great service from the nurse about his boot and crutches. High praise for front desk and all staff. Highly recommend and this will be my to go Urgent care in the future.

Staff was great and the doctor was awesome. I was having issues with telehealth and they worked with me verse just canceling me. They got me the medicine and helped I need in a prompt and professional manner. When ever we need urgent care this is the only location we go to.

This place surprised the socks off me. In the past, I have always use an ER for urgent care. This morning, after bleeding for 15 hours from a small prick in my stomach, my wife suggested we go to this clinic. When we arrive, we were taken straight to a treatment room where a nurse removed the several bandages that bled through again. When she removed enough to see the accumulated blood, she left the room quickly and returned almost instantly with a male co-worker who could have been a doctor, PA, nurse or janitor. In less that ten minutes, he had applied silver nitrate and completely stopped the bleeding! No identification nor billing question were asked until after the end of treatment.

Wonderful all around. It was a long wait but I was warned and the receptionist squeezed us in as a walk in so I am thankful for that. So even with 17 people ahead of us and one doctor handling it all, I was just happy to get in at all! I will definitely go back for urgent care needs (regular doc closer to home) and recommend to friends. Thank you to everyone who worked 9/12 and stay safe!

The support staff, medical staff, and NP were all excellent, especially the NP. I work in the medical field and it's not often I'm truly impressed, but all of these ladies were wonderful, service was seamless, and both the diagnosis and treatment were on point. Urgent Care may be hit or miss depending on where you choose to go, but I was very glad I ended up taking my daughter here. Thanks, NextCare on Route 17.😁

Getting Urgent Care in Emporia, VA

Urgent care in Emporia is your best option for non-life threatening, quality medical care when you need it. Many urgent care centers in Emporia offer walk-in appointments during extended hours and on weekends. Solv even has clinic partners in the Emporia-area that offer online scheduling, allowing you to book a visit convenient to your schedule and skip the wait.

Walk-in clinics provide a convenient, fast alternative to emergency rooms—even primary care providers—treating minor injuries and illnesses including strep throat, infections, cold and flu symptoms, allergies, rashes, burns, bites, and more. Additionally, most offer preventative care including annual well exams, lab testing, and vaccinations.

When you’re in need of medical care for a non-life threatening condition, trust the urgent care providers nearby. And whenever possible, make it easier by scheduling and managing your visit with Solv.

A Patient's Guide to Urgent Care

In a recent survey conducted with the Urgent Care Association, Solv found that patients were waiting an average of 24 days for appointments with their primary care provider. In a world of instant gratification, consumers demand more. They demand now. If you want to watch a movie, you download it in minutes or stream it instantly. If you need groceries, you can pick up your phone and have them delivered to you within the hour. If you need restaurant reservations, you find one with availability, book online, walk in minutes later and sit right down. Healthcare shouldn’t be any different.

That’s why urgent care has been growing at a faster pace than any other healthcare service in the United States. And it is why healthcare consumers search for “urgent care” more than 5x more than “primary care” or “family doctor,” combined. These consumers are highly actionable, searching with high intent terms like “urgent care near me.” They want same day access to quality healthcare providers when they are sick or injured - after hours, one weekends and on holidays - without the cost and inconvenience of the emergency room.

Urgent care centers typically treat minor illnesses like the flu, sinus infections and strep throat, as well as injuries like bone fractures and sprains, cuts, scrapes and burns, making these clinics ideal for diagnosing and treating non-emergent healthcare needs. And at a growing rate urgent care clinics are offering preventative care services including annual physicals and well visits, flu shots and other immunizations and vaccines, taking on the role of primary care provider for the tens of millions of consumers that don’t have one.

For kids there are special pediatric urgent care centers, usually open after hours for patients between the ages of 1 and 18.

Urgent Care Services & Pricing

Urgent care centers, which are part of the walk-in clinic healthcare category, are a convenient resource for consumers needing treatment for minor illnesses and injuries. Services that you would normally receive at your primary care office are usually available at an urgent care including annual and school physicals, flu shots and immunizations, treatment for illnesses including colds, flu stomach pains, sinus and ear infections and more. You can also be seen for injuries such as burns, bites, sprains and breaks - things that you might first thing to go to the emergency room vs urgent care, but you’ll have a shorter wait and smaller bill at the urgent care. As for cost, without insurance, you should expect between $100-140 for your visit, plus the cost of any labs, tests or images. With insurance, urgent care will be similar to seeing a specialist with applicable co-pay.

Insurance & Payments

Nearly all urgent care centers take commercial insurance and many (if not most) will take medicare. As such if you have insurance coverage, you can expect the financial experience to be similar to visiting a specialist where you have a co-pay, usually $35-50, due at the time of the visit. Any additional lab work, x-rays or other tests performed will be billed against your insurance first and any supplemental balance due will be invoiced to you after the fact. Without insurance, you’ll pay a visit fee between $100-140 at the time of your visit. This is typically 25-50% more than your primary care provider, but usually the convenience is well worth the additional cost. If you are interested in a telehealth or video visit, your cost could be as much as 50% less than an urgent care, you could be diagnosed and prescribed medication and you’ll never have to leave your home.

Urgent Care Hours & Wait Times

Every urgent care center - even those part of the same group or brand - may have different hours. While they are meant to be conveniently accessible during times when your primary care provider is not, that’s subjective and highly variable. A traditional formula, however, is that an urgent care is open 6 to 7 days a week usually between the hours of 8 am to 8 pm. That could shift to nearly any 8-12 hour period between 7 am and 10 pm. You’ll even find some clinics open 24 hours a day, similar to an emergency room. As for wait time, most patients report waiting between 15-45 minutes on average, but that can certainly vary, as well. It’s usually best to find an urgent care near you to either confirm the hours online, or call the clinic directly to verify. Or, you can book a same day doctor appointment online with Solv.
