Urgent care
I was going in for a routine drug test for my job. There seemed to be very few people there  and I was shown that there were 0 people ahead of me for the test. I continued to wait in the lobby for about 10 min and nobody said anything to me about my wait time other than they will be with me shortly. Both staff members seemed very short with me and the person doing my urine test was rude and impatient with me when I was wrapping up with a text message. She didn’t even flush the toilet from the previous person using it and didn’t apologize for having me enter a bathroom with a used toilet. There was some kind of issue with the ceiling and water leaking everywhere so maybe that’s why the staff was grumpy but that should not be an excuse.

Pain from Sciatica had become unbearable. I wasn't able to schedule an appointment with my doctor, but I went online to Carbon Health's website and had no trouble booking an appointment. I was seen on time, the facility was clean & comfortable, the check-in process was hassle free, and the young lady at the front desk was polite and professional. Dr. Upton was a tremendous help to me. In addition to being able to prescribe the right medication for my condition, she advised me regarding lifestyle changes that might be beneficial. Above all - SHE LISTENED to me! I would certainly recommend this location to my friends and neighbors.

Was able to make a fast easy appointment for next day online. But wait time in clinic was very long even though I did have an appointment. I think AME should do reminder messages of appointments or when patient needs testing as well.

Urgent care in Torrance, CA

Torrance is the largest city in LA's South Bay and a regional anchor for urgent and emergency care. Torrance Memorial, Providence Little Company of Mary, and Kaiser all operate major facilities here, giving residents broad walk-in options. For more system-level access, see urgent care in Los Angeles.

What services do urgent care clinics in Torrance offer?

Torrance Memorial Medical Center, Providence Little Company of Mary, and Kaiser Permanente all run major facilities and urgent care clinics in Torrance.2 Local urgent care covers the standard range: respiratory illness, sprains and minor fractures, lacerations, pediatric same-day visits, and chronic-condition care. Most clinics offer x-ray and on-site lab.

Most clinics also offer DOT and sports physicals, allergy treatment, STI testing, and travel medicine. What urgent care typically does not handle: active heart attack or stroke symptoms, severe trauma, complicated childbirth, or psychiatric emergencies — those need an ER. Most Torrance-area clinics post wait times online and accept walk-ins, though booking ahead through Solv typically gets you in faster and lets you complete paperwork before you arrive.

Typical visit length is 30 to 90 minutes from check-in to discharge, depending on whether x-ray, lab work, or a procedure (laceration repair, splinting) is needed. Most clinics in the Torrance area are open 7 days a week, with extended evening and weekend hours. Some operate as 24/7 urgent care or freestanding ERs — those are clearly labeled in the booking tool above so you can pick based on hours and acuity.

Does urgent care in Torrance accept Medi-Cal?

Yes — most Torrance urgent care clinics accept Medi-Cal, California's Medicaid program managed by the Department of Health Care Services.1 In Los Angeles County, Medi-Cal managed care is delivered through L.A. Care Health Plan or Health Net. KFF state data shows LA County leads the state in Medi-Cal enrollment.3 Most major systems in Torrance participate in both managed care plans.

Medi-Cal covers urgent care visits, basic labs, x-ray, prescription medications ordered during the visit, and follow-up referrals. Patients typically have no copay at the point of care for managed-care visits. If your Medi-Cal plan has not been activated or if the clinic is out-of-network with your specific managed care plan, you may be asked to pay self-pay rates and seek reimbursement. The clinic’s front desk can verify eligibility in real time before you’re seen.

For commercial insurance, most local clinics participate with the major PPO and HMO carriers and process insurance at the point of care. Bring your current insurance card and a photo ID. If you’re uninsured, ask about self-pay rates up front — many clinics publish flat self-pay pricing that’s far lower than an ER visit. HSA and FSA cards are accepted at most clinics for the patient-responsibility portion of the visit.

How does Torrance urgent care relate to Los Angeles?

Torrance has approximately 147,000 residents per the U.S. Census Bureau,4 making it the largest city in the South Bay. It sits 22 miles south of downtown Los Angeles and borders Lomita, Palos Verdes Estates, Redondo Beach, and Carson. The city has the densest concentration of healthcare facilities in the South Bay.

For most non-emergency same-day issues, staying local in Torrance is faster and cheaper than driving to a Los Angeles ER. Reserve the ER for true emergencies. If a clinic in Torrance can’t see you, the booking tool above will surface the next-soonest availability across nearby cities — often within a 10–15 minute drive.
