Very pleased with the overall experience here. Receptionist was very pleasant as well as the support staff we encountered. Saw Dr. Mary Wolter who was very personable and easy to talk to. She performed a thorough exam and answered any questions or concerns we had. Never felt rushed. Office and patient rooms were immaculate.

Recent COVID-19 Testing Reviews (20)

There was a line that moved rather quickly. I was there for wound care, I think most people were there for COVID test. Very efficient staff, who kept line moving.

I was greeted by Brittany. Let me tell you, I went from being nervous to very calm. She was very hygiene diligent, which is so important, so sweet and very caring. She helped me with everything I needed. The Medical assistant was also very nice, sweet and very gentle. The Doctor was nice I wish he would’ve gave me a quick exam. My ears, throat, and lymph nodes in my head and neck should have been checked being that I am not feeling well, and just to rule anything else out. I guess since Covid testing is what I requested that was probably the reason. However not that big of a deal. I will utilize this place in the future. Big thank you to Brittany every office should have a front desk staff like her.

- Verified patient on 7/12

The place needs to have a better system to manage COVID testing waiting time. We have been standing outside since 7am (because website said there is drive through from 7am), we finally get tested at 10:30am. This is NY and waiting outside at zero degree for 3 hours for family with young children or seniors. This is horrible. Pls have a better online booking system and avoid people standing outside for such long time under the cold. Thank you!

The Rapid COVID Test was received promptly in the office and not in vehicle. This site felt very busy for COVID issues, and staff handled it well. I was provided a hard copy result letter without even asking. I would definitely recommend this office.

- Verified patient on 3/25

Covid test. Professional, congenial staff. More pleasant than the have a right to be considering what they do all day at risk of their own health. Kudos to them all.

- Verified patient on 12/16

The facility was clean & courteous. They took me exactly on my appointment time. The nurse and dr were friendly & efficient. I would highly recommend them for coVid testing. Now just waiting for results.

- Verified patient on 1/6

Had to take my son for rapid covid test at end of day without appointment and was seen in less than 10 min. Test came back negative after approximately 10 min.

- Verified patient on 10/7

Both ladies at the front desk were exceptional! The woman who took my Call was fantastic she calmed me down over the phone and she was able to secure an appointment for me even though they were booked and when I got there she was able to help my sister-in-law too who was also there and both women at the front desk were fabulous!! very very awesome attendants. The doctor was great too and so was the woman who took my COVID test. The whole staff was extraordinary!!! My name is Angela Capri I don’t wish to remain anonymous.

- Verified patient on 8/28

Latesha was great! She was super friendly, made us feel very comfortable & was the only person ever who administered the COVID test without causing us great discomfort.

- Verified patient on 1/15

Went there for Covid test. Staff is wonderful. Nurse/Receptionist would come outside periodically to help people register while waiting, and took time to answer everyone’s questions. They have a good procedure in place, where they call or text you when ready for you to go in. Once inside, Both Doctor and nurses were very courteous and helpful. They move things along quickly, while still giving personal attention. Highly recommend.

- Verified patient on 12/14

Wife and I needed Covid testing. Pre-register with no trouble, taken within minutes of our appt time. The Nurse & PA we interacted with were pleasant efficient and professional in all aspects. Would definitely recommend to others and utilize for ourselves should the need arise

- Verified patient on 2/4

The nurse asked me what was the point of having the covid test done when I'm already going back to work the next day, and when I've already gotten tested a month ago. I work with kids. I believe it's important for me to get the test done routinely so that I don't spread the virus unknowingly to all these children. But apparently not everyone agrees.

- Verified patient on 9/29

Staff was great - just waiting on a covid test results to clear me for surgery and the nurse put it thru as Stat - hopefully I will hear back soon. Very happy with the whole staff!

- Verified patient on 4/13

Facility is very organized and accommodating. They are efficient , nice , and informative. Dealing with massive lines of people has evolved into a better systems to register and wait to be called. Much much better. They have someone outside to answer questions and keep people informed of where to go where to wait and what to do and expect. This is my third time Covid testing here. I would highly recommend this facility. I go out of my way to come here as opposed to a closer facility to my home. Keep up the great work!

- Verified patient on 1/21

I had a 6pm appt. for a Covid test. I checked in a few minutes before and was told to go wait in my car and they would send me a text when it was my turn. I waited approx. 20-25 minutes before they texted me to go in. The place is run very efficiently, and I received my results in 2 days!

I went to Pro Health in Little neck Queens. I have been there before with no problem. However, on 11/25/20 my boyfriend and I waited in total 7 hours for a covid test. Three hours to register ( no online appts) and 3-1/2 hrs to be called back. The Office Manager and Assistant are extremely brave to work and take all these walk in’s last minute before thanksgiving. The office Manager was so calm and personable while explaining delays to everybody. In addition the nurses and doctor were very nice and explained everything to us during testing. We took a rapid test and pcr test. Fantastic job to the employees as I think they were under staffed they day only and very professional in handling all these ppl and having to accommodate this overwhelming in flux of people. These are trying times we all are facing so I think the wait for us was wayyy too long but not their fault.

- Verified patient on 11/26

Had a scheduled appointment for a Covid test for myself and my husband we were taken in and promptly had a test administered were given our results within 15 minutes or so and it was over .very simple, as long as you have an appointment there is no wait time and everybody was wonderful caring in friendly

- Verified patient on 3/5

IF you use the App and IF you can get an appointment (try at 12:10AM for the following day) the process is simple and efficient. Staff and App keep you informed of who is ahead of you as you sit safely in your car. Fast results could be as little as 10 minutes with the Rapid Covid test

- Verified patient on 1/14

The staff was phenomenal. My mother in-law has respiratory illness n staff came out to car n did covid test for her. Then came back and gave results in 10 minutes. Wonderful staff

- Verified patient on 10/15

Ebony was helpful, polite and respectful. I need to take a CoVid test weekly and she scheduled appts for me for the rest of Nov and Dec. My mother is in a nursing home and testing is required so that I can visit her, so this is very important to me.

Little Neck COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Little Neck?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in Little Neck?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your Little Neck-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Little Neck?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Little Neck including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Little Neck?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many Little Neck-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Little Neck?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Little Neck are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 Little Neck?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Little Neck?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
