Jamie at the front desk (pleasant and professional) entered my information into the system. He perceptively noticed that it would be diffucult for me to fill out the medical history portion (on a tablet) with my injured arm. Jamie assisted me with the Q & A. It took much less time, without the physical pain or hassle. He suggested that I take a seat and that they would be with me shortly. I noticed a check in board above the front desk (I was currently7th). The lobby (clean and tidy) offers hand sanitizer, tissues, coffee and water. My wait time was not long. Lynn the resident Rad Tech took my vitals (weight, blood pressure and temperature) and was very congenial and understanding about my partial hearing loss. She took the time to keep me informed. Lynn also took my X rays and comprehensively conveyed what was needed for each X ray angle. Lynn stated that it would 2 minutes before the Doctor would arrive. That occurred in 2 minutes or less. Dr. Matier is highly personable, obviously well educated and openly approachable in both demeanor and communication. This staff gives outstanding health care at any level. Thanks so much!

I was recently vacationing in Florida when I fell and broke my arm. At the time, I thought it was sprained so I searched for an Urgent Care facility. Doctor4UClinic had good reviews so I thought I would give it a shot. Although I did have to wait an extremely long time, Dr. Dalzell truly went above and beyond making me feel at ease when I discovered the arm was actually broken. She took the time to consult with an Ortho after hours to ensure it would be ok for me to fly home. She also went out of her way by calling me with the ok to fly as well as leaving her personal cell phone for me to contact her with any questions. The staff was very courteous and super friendly. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone, and am extremely thankful to have found it.

About Tetanus Shots

A tetanus shot is used to prevent tetanus, also known as lockjaw. Tetanus is a bacterial infection that can lead to painful muscle spasms, and oftentimes, death. Adults in the US have to be vaccinated against tetanus because there's currently no cure for it and roughly 10 to 20 percent of victims die from tetanus. Symptoms of tetanus come from a toxin produced by tetanus bacteria and usually begin appearing about a week after the infection occurs. The most common symptom is muscle stiffness that begins in the jaw and spreads to the neck, arms, legs, or abdomen, but other symptoms include trouble swallowing, headache, fever and sweating, irritability and restlessness, high blood pressure, palpitations, and muscle spasms in the face.

It's important to get treated for tetanus as soon as you know you're infected because if it's not treated quickly enough, you can die from suffocation. Tetanus shots are given in the shoulder muscle. If you've never had a tetanus shot before, you might be given a three-dose primary series. You'll get the first dose as a three-in-one combination called Tdap that prevents tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), and diphtheria (Td). The other two doses will usually be a dual vaccine and you'll receive them over a 7 to 12 month period. You should receive a tetanus vaccine between 2 months and 6 years old, as well as a teenager and an adult. Pregnant women might need a tetanus shot during the third trimester of pregnancy.
