Friendly Staff

The young lady checking in patients on 9/8/21 was so sweet & helpful. Nurse practitioner Philip Olshinski was also extremely kind. Super nice and what you'd hope for with providers. The place is not fancy, but I was treated so nice. Thanks as I know you all are extra busy during these stressful times.

About Gonorrhea Testing

Who should get tested for gonorrhea?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), anyone who is sexually active can get gonorrhea, especially those with multiple sexual partners. It is particularly recommended for sexually active women under 25, men who have sex with men, and people with HIV infection. If you're in Kernersville, NC, or the surrounding areas like Colfax, Walkertown, Oak Ridge, Winston Salem, or Stokesdale, and fall into these categories, it's advisable to get tested.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for gonorrhea is crucial as it can lead to serious health complications if left untreated, such as infertility in both men and women, according to the CDC. It also increases the risk of getting or giving HIV. Moreover, pregnant women with gonorrhea can pass the infection to their babies during childbirth, which can lead to blindness or life-threatening infections in babies.

Gonorrhea testing options in Kernersville, NC:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics are excellent options for gonorrhea testing in Kernersville, NC. Facilities like NextCare Urgent Care in Burlington, NC and AFC Urgent Care in High Point, NC offer reliable testing services. With Solv, you can conveniently book same-day and next-day appointments at these locations.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another good option for gonorrhea testing. They can provide a comprehensive sexual health check-up and guide you through the testing process.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers in Kernersville and nearby counties like Raleigh County, Fayette County, Madison County, Augusta County, and Orange County offer free or low-cost STD testing, including gonorrhea testing.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits are also available for those who prefer privacy or have mobility issues. These kits can be ordered online and come with detailed instructions on how to collect samples and send them back to the lab for testing.

Prevalence of gonorrhea in Kernersville

While specific data for Kernersville is not readily available, Forsyth County, where Kernersville is located, has seen a rise in gonorrhea cases over the years, mirroring the national trend as reported by the CDC. It's important to note that the actual number of cases may be higher due to underreporting and many people not knowing they have the infection because they don't have symptoms.

Risk factors related to gonorrhea in Kernersville

Risk factors for gonorrhea in Kernersville are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include being sexually active, having multiple sexual partners, and inconsistent use of condoms. Other factors that could contribute to the prevalence of gonorrhea in Kernersville include lack of access to healthcare, stigma associated with STD testing, and lack of awareness about the importance of regular testing.

Other STDs in Kernersville

In addition to gonorrhea, other STDs like chlamydia, HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis are also prevalent in Kernersville and surrounding areas. Regular testing for these STDs is recommended for sexually active individuals, especially those with multiple partners. Testing locations like NextCare Urgent Care and AFC Urgent Care provide testing services for these STDs as well.
