Friendly Staff

My child was sick and I could make an appointment for the same day and with a short wait time. It was a good experience for my child because he’s scared of doctors and in this urgent care the stuff and doctor were so polite with us and especially to my child. And my baby was comforted with lollipop and a toy for a visit which made him happy and now he trusts them.

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

According to the CDC, anyone who has been exposed to the hepatitis virus, including those who have had sexual contact with an infected person, should get tested. Additionally, individuals who have shared needles or other drug paraphernalia, or have received a tattoo or piercing with non-sterile instruments, are at a higher risk. Healthcare and public safety workers exposed to blood on the job, as well as travelers to certain countries, should also consider testing.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial to prevent the spread of the disease and to start treatment as soon as possible if you are infected. Early detection can help prevent serious liver damage, including cirrhosis and liver cancer. It also helps protect others, as people can carry the virus without showing symptoms and unknowingly infect others.

Risk factors related to hepatitis in Elmhurst

Risk factors for hepatitis in Elmhurst are the same as those nationwide. These include unprotected sex, sharing needles, and exposure to infected blood. Additionally, certain occupations, such as healthcare and public safety, carry a higher risk.

Other STDs in Elmhurst

Besides hepatitis, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis are also prevalent in Elmhurst and Cook County. The rates of these infections are in line with national averages. It's important to get tested regularly for all STDs if you are sexually active and have multiple partners, or if you have been exposed to any of these infections.
