The wait was very long but, once I saw the doctor, he made me feel right at home and took care of my problem. I’m glad I went there. Thanks for all your care.

Urgent care
I'm 22 years old and have been to a lot of urgent cares in my life but I can honestly say this is the best experience I have ever had at one. I waited for less than 5 minutes both times I have been here - the staff is incredible and made me feel so comfortable. For as long as I live in Grand Rapids, I will be going to this Urgent Care. Selma and Scott (I think the doctors name was) were both fantastic. Thank you!

Urgent Care in Grand Rapids, MI

Grand Rapids is the only mid-size US city anchored by a two-mile life-sciences corridor that began with the 1996 founding of the Van Andel Institute and now includes Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital, Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, the Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion, Michigan State University College of Human Medicine's Secchia Center, and BAMF Health — which in 2022 introduced the world's first vertically integrated platform for molecular imaging and radiopharmaceutical therapy.1 Corewell Health, formed by the 2022 merger of Beaumont Health and Spectrum Health and headquartered in Grand Rapids, is now Michigan's largest healthcare system, employing more than 60,000 people across the state.2 The combination of an academic research density unusual for a mid-size city and a dominant integrated delivery system shapes Grand Rapids' walk-in care market in distinctive ways.

Which urgent care clinics serve Grand Rapids?

Corewell Health operates the largest urgent care footprint in West Michigan. Corewell Health Urgent Care on East Beltline Avenue NE anchors a network of same-day care locations across Kentwood, Wyoming, Walker, and Cascade. Most accept walk-ins seven days a week with online check-in and onsite X-ray and lab. Trinity Health (which now operates the former Mercy Health Saint Mary's after the 2024 CommonSpirit-Trinity joint venture dissolution) runs walk-in clinics across Grand Rapids and Kentwood. Trinity Health Saint Mary's Emergency Department on Lafayette Avenue serves as the city's downtown ED. Independent operators including MedNow Urgent Care and Concentra round out the market for occupational medicine and after-hours care. For non-trauma needs, urgent care in Grand Rapids is the right setting.

When should you choose urgent care over the ER in Grand Rapids?

Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital is the regional Level I Trauma Center for West Michigan, and Helen DeVos Children's Hospital provides Level I Pediatric Trauma care for a multi-state catchment.3 Both reserve their resources for chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe bleeding, head trauma, difficulty breathing, broken bones with deformity, and major injury. For fevers, urinary tract infections, ear infections, sprains, minor cuts, sore throats, rashes, and mild respiratory illness, urgent care is the right setting — dramatically faster and lower-cost than the Butterworth ED. Corewell Health Butterworth's reported emergency department wait runs about 16 minutes door-to-doctor on average, with discharge time around two hours and admission time around four hours — competitive nationally but still dwarfed by 20- to 60-minute urgent care visits for non-emergencies. For chest pain, stroke symptoms, or major trauma, call 911 or go directly to the nearest ED.

What conditions do Grand Rapids urgent care clinics treat?

Grand Rapids walk-in clinics handle the full range of non-trauma care: respiratory infections, ear infections, urinary tract infections, skin infections, minor lacerations and burns, sprains and strains, fractures requiring splinting, vomiting and diarrhea, pink eye, mild allergic reactions, and rashes. Most Grand Rapids urgent care clinics offer DOT physicals in Grand Rapids — relevant for the West Michigan logistics and manufacturing workforce centered in furniture (Steelcase, Herman Miller), food production, and medical device manufacturing — and sports physicals in Grand Rapids for Grand Rapids Public Schools, Forest Hills, Kentwood, and East Grand Rapids student athletes before fall and spring seasons.

How do urgent care clinics in Grand Rapids handle Healthy Michigan Plan and insurance?

Michigan Medicaid expansion operates under the Healthy Michigan Plan, which covers more than one million Michiganders earning up to 133% of the federal poverty level.4 Healthy Michigan Plan members enroll in one of nine Medicaid health plans in 2026, including Aetna Better Health of Michigan, Blue Cross Complete of Michigan, HAP CareSource, McLaren Health Plan, Meridian Health Plan, Molina Healthcare of Michigan, Priority Health Choice, United Healthcare Community Plan, and the regional Upper Peninsula Health Plan. According to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services,4 Kent County had roughly 130,000 Medicaid enrollees as of 2024, with the Healthy Michigan Plan covering the working-age adult population whose coverage gap had been closed by the 2014 expansion. Corewell Health Urgent Care advertises $0 copay for most insurance plans, including Medicaid, for same-day care — a pricing posture that draws Healthy Michigan Plan members to Corewell Urgent Care over the Butterworth ED for non-emergencies.

What city-specific health context drives urgent care demand in Grand Rapids?

Two Grand Rapids–specific demand drivers stand out. First, the Medical Mile generates a unique density of clinical research participants, medical residents, and visiting academic clinicians who use urgent care for routine illness while in town. Second, Grand Rapids hosts the highest concentration of medical device manufacturers in Michigan — more than 50 businesses serving the medical device product lifecycle — alongside furniture (Steelcase, Herman Miller/MillerKnoll), food processing, and pharmaceutical (Perrigo North American HQ at the corridor's north end) employers whose occupational injury volume passes through urgent care for splinting, suturing, and return-to-work evaluation.5 West Michigan's winter respiratory virus season — from October through March — drives flu, RSV, and COVID volume at urgent care alongside Grand Rapids' pollen-heavy spring allergy season tied to the surrounding lakeshore woodlands.

I can't remember the nurse name or the doctors name. But I have been to this urgent care a couple of times and this by far has been been the best experience by far the Nur se and doctor both make sure I was comfortable in every way knowing by the look of my face that I was not comfortable they explained everything detail by detail. Those 2 I'd give 100 ⭐'s too! Past not so much. They were very prompt. In the past I've had over 3 hour wait (didn't stay). But must say thank you for today between the telemed and in person

Doctor Gary Schuldt was an outstanding doctor. He was very nice and friendly and very respectful. He makes you feel like you belong there instead of making you feel like a bother. He took the time to talk to me, listen to me, and he helped me out in anyway he could. What an outstanding doctor. I will definitely be going back to Michigan Urgent Care as long as he’s still working there. Definitely a 5 star experience! Couldn’t have asked for a better doctor and urgent care visit. The front counter staff were very nice and respectful as well! Thank you all for everything you do!

I couldn’t be more grateful for the nurse practitioner and all the staff at this urgent care. I truly think they may have saved my life. I’m almost 10 days into Covid, and struggling to breathe. I made an online appointment, but They called me right away and told me to come in immediately. They did all the paperwork for me. No wait, just got me right in and gave me a breathing treatment and chest X-rays. I’m really so appreciative. This place did what my own doctors office refused to do! I will always recommend ppl here when they are in need of immediate help.

This is a wonderful option for people who are unable to meet with their primary for urgent concerns. I have also utilized this urgent care office multiple times for covid testing. They are always kindly accommodating to my specific needs. The wait time was not bad at all! I expected to wait much longer as we were delayed for the appointment arrival time. With covid concerns and in need of testing they were still able to accommodate me and my s/o for testing. Cinnamon has been a great provider to us at the Springfield Urgent Care. Her bedside manner and compassionate care shines through. She explained what was going on to the best of her knowledge with the symptoms we have and has provided us with guidance and a care plan to assist in fighting off whatever cold or virus we have. It seems that she truly cares about helping people well. I would definitely recommend this urgent care to my friends, family, or even a stranger looking for local care. Receptionists were friendly and accommodating as well. It think it's been my 3rd or 4th visit there. The consistency of quality of care is impressive. I'm so happy this urgent care is available in my area as pinckney/hamburg/whitmore lake residents now have and option other that going to a hospital in Ann Arbor. Keep up the fabulous care!

After being turned away by two booked by-appointment-only local Urgent Care clinics, for a simple strep-swab test for our young son, we found this clinic. I called and explained our situation. The receptionist was friendly, welcoming and invited us in right away. We were there within ten minutes. It was such a relief to not have to visit an ER. After checking in, we waited for a reasonable amount of time. Our son had some difficulty cooperating with the swab test. The very kind and patient nurse managed to get the sample and rewarded him with a refreshing popsicle. The PA was very competent, observant and thorough. Excellent care and service! Thank you!

Could not get a hold of my dentist or family doctor on a Saturday with having an infected tooth. My bf found beaumont urgent care and we got an appointment set up through telemed. I got to talk to the most angelic doctor ever. She was very sweet and thorough and was able to help me in a matter of minutes. So very sweet and caring. Thank you beaumont for your staff and team of doctors. It was all around a very pleasant experience when I was in immense pain. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Excellent! Concerned about Coronavirus sxs, I was directed to set up a telehealth visit after talking to urgent care in royal oak. Easy set up. Urgent care even called to confirm my visit that would start shortly. Excellent care and concern by the telehealth medical person. Agreed I should be tested for the virus. In a short time, a call to schedule my drive up test. All this and tested within 2.5 hours in Troy Urgent Care drive up. Everyone was professional, courteous and compassionate. Despite all they face each day, they each treated me with care. These are all healthcare heroes!!!

I was treated kindly and professionally. I felt ALL precautions were taken to ensure my health safety Because of COVID-19. The staff all had their PPE equipment on and I had in my mask so we all were protected!! I am so appreciative of being taken care of when I needed Urgent Care unrelated to COVID. The virtual visit was very easy to accomplish with it being my first time. The Physician on my virtual visit suggested an X-ray to my left arm and called the Farmington Hills Urgent Care letting them know that I was coming. Already told my friends and family how easy it was!! Thank you to Jordan who took my xrays and was super kind throughout my visit. I am very pleased!!!

Staff was very kind to me when I was having difficulty consenting to the treatment that I was required to have (vax). They actually refused to treat me unless I not only gave written permission, but acted as though I was consenting-(which I could not, so they declined to treat me- which was absolutely the ethical think to do!!!!)- (in contrast to ascension Genesys hospital that DID administer the shot, despite consent that stated I was being forced in exchange for employment, & crying throughout! ) Very proud of staff at Springfield urgent care! Professionals that adhere to quality care & patient respect!!!! Thank you!!!!

Woke up to a very red and achy eye. Was able to get a virtual visit that morning - within an hour of my initial search. Clear instructions on the website with friendly follow up email and call. I got on my call approximately 15 minutes prior as directed and was quite promptly seen to gather additional background information on my issue. The PA saw me quickly after that and answered all of my questions. I did not feel rushed or ignored. A script was called in and I’m getting treatment. I would use Springfield Urgent Care again.

My appt was made on line. The online experience was fast and easy. I got to the facility and called from outside the parking lot. Mine was for Covid testing so everything was done outside of the building. I didn’t wait long for the staff to answer the phone when I got there and I didn’t have to wait long for someone to come out to greet me! The staff is very friendly and I feel I received great care! Thank you Burton urgent care!!! I would recommend your place in a heart beat!

I was so nervous about taking my Son to urgent care in person. Having the video call option is AMAZING! Samantha was so friendly and helped me set up the video call. She was extremely patient with me, I'm not tech savvy. The Doctor (Dr. Ryan I believe) I spoke with was so helpful! He was sweet to my son and was able to diagnosis his pink eye and get prescriptions right over. Being able to keep my son safe at home and have a virtual appointment meant so much. Every experience I have with Beaumont leave me is a great experience! Thank you Beaumont team for all that you are doing! You are true super heroes

I like Dr.Shewly. She is the best Dr.ever I seen. I like AFC urgent care because this urgent care communication system is very good. This urgent care provide the best quality of care.

Throughout my life I have had many encounters with Doctors, and needles to say I don't like seeing any 😅. Although I must say this Doctor is different. He is very careful, and extremely observant. Within a few minutes of examining me he was able to resolve the issue I was having, and at the same time pointed out other issues that he noticed, and helped shed light into resolving problems that I have been dealing with for many years While other Doctors could not resolve them. One would assume that a doctor with this much knowledge would be the president of the United states personal doctor. I guess you could say that this doctor is the people's personal gem. Melvindale family urgent care is the best around town Hands up-and-down!

Overall it was a good experience. Very short due to all that was needed is just setting up a scheduled time to get swabbed. Having to set up a virtual visit to book a time for a COVID test I understand is probably a way to control the chaos and flow, but I also see this as a money grab as well for the convenience fo booking a time slot vs just waiting and hoping for not a large queue as a walk in. Since it requires a virtual visit that means that more than likely this counts as an "office visit" which then means there's a copay literally just to have a doctor say, "Yep, we'll have a scheduler reach out to you". Thankfully I have insurance to help cover whatever the copay might be. I understand that this is probably bigger than a Beaumont Urgent Care concern, but I just wanted to share my view on this.

This is a covid testing site. With that being said everyone was very nice and polite. I can’t imagine how I would deal with every person coming in being a potential positive covid status and still staying calm and collected. I had no symptoms, but my family members had covid so I needed to be tested before returning the work. It was quick and easy. No wait time at all for my pre scheduled appointment. I will for sure use the same site once it’s back and running for a normal urgent care.

- Verified patient on 8/25

Staff and doctor very friendly. With the coronavirus, they took every precaution as I entered the center. Very little wait time. Doctor was thorough in checking my injury. Had an X-ray and waited for result. However, there was a problem in getting the X-ray back from main office. So the doctor did not want me to wait a long time at urgent care. So he said that he could not see anything immediately wrong and that when he got the X-ray back if there was anything urgent he would call me. As it was the next morning I received the results through My Beaumont Chart and was able to access the result of the X-ray. Everything was actually ok. I would recommend going to Beaumont Urgent Care in future.

My experience with the staff was phenomenal earlier in the day I went to another urgent care add 21 mile and VanDyke I would not recommend them people to change the water in my toilet very rude yawning you could tell they simply didn’t have a care in the world about anything going on in their day. Your staff called me several timesAnd the follow-through was phenomenal in fact I’m going to the doctors tomorrow at 8 AM and all I can simply do is give you guys a high five as of this point very professional..👋🏻👋🏻

I went to two different urgent cares earlier that day and they were so rude at both places I did not stay there. Then I came to Michigan urgent care and they were phenomenal! The receptionist was so friendly and smiling and greeted me. Everybody that saw me and helped process the whole experience were so professional friendly and I cannot say enough good things. I will make sure to use Michigan Urgent Care any time I need urgent care. I would highly recommend this to anybody they were so awesome!

Did a virtual visit and then went to Beaumont Urgent Care in Warren for a rapid test and PCR test. This was so much more efficient than standing outside first thing in the morning trying to get a spot for the day or waiting in the lot for hours on end trying to get tested. Both the virtual visit and in person testing were prompt, organized and professional. I did my virtual visit at 8:58, set up the test for 9:30 and was back in my car, already tested by 9:45. More people need to know about this! Thank you for making it possible!
