Henderson Chlamydia Testing

Who should get tested for chlamydia?

Anyone who is sexually active can get chlamydia, but the infection is especially common among young people. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends annual chlamydia testing for all sexually active women under the age of 25, as well as for older women with risk factors such as new or multiple sex partners. Men who have sex with men should also get tested for chlamydia regularly.

Importance of getting tested

Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted disease that can cause serious health problems if left untreated, including permanent damage to a woman's reproductive system. The infection often has no symptoms, so testing is the only way to know if you have chlamydia. Early detection and treatment can prevent these complications. According to the CDC, chlamydia can also increase the risk of getting or giving HIV.
