Urgent care
Had pain in my left foot after a fall. Broke it. Very nice nurse, doctor and xray tech.. bathroom needed attention. No paper towels or hand sanitizer. Needed hand sanitizer and kleenex in waiting room. This will be my go-to non-ER facility. Lots better than Texas Med clinic.

Urgent care in Poth, TX

Poth is a small Wilson County town about 35 miles southeast of San Antonio, with urgent care needs typically served by Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville and clinics in adjacent communities. Book a same-day visit nearby or in urgent care in San Antonio in under a minute.

What services do urgent care clinics in Poth offer?

Walk-in urgent care for Poth residents typically comes from nearby Floresville or larger southeast Bexar County clinics — handling flu, strep, UTIs, sprains, lacerations, ear infections, and basic on-site labs and X-ray. Connally Memorial Medical Center serves as the Wilson County hospital, and patients route into Methodist Healthcare and Baptist Health System for higher-acuity care in San Antonio.2

Does urgent care in Poth accept STAR (Texas Medicaid)?

Urgent care clinics serving the Poth area accept STAR, the Texas Medicaid managed care program administered by Texas Health and Human Services.1 Because Texas hasn't expanded Medicaid, eligibility is largely limited to children, pregnant women, and very low-income families — KFF tracks Texas as the state with the highest uninsured rate in the U.S.3 In rural Wilson County, STAR plan options can be more limited, so call the clinic to confirm acceptance before your visit.

How does Poth urgent care relate to San Antonio?

Poth has roughly 1,950 residents and sits in northern Wilson County, with most of its workforce tied to ranching, agriculture, and commuting into the greater San Antonio area.4 For meaningful urgent care or hospital options, residents typically drive into Floresville, Stockdale, or further into urgent care in San Antonio.

Urgent Care FAQs

  • Are there urgent care clinics in Poth?

Yes. Poth, TX has walk-in urgent care available either directly in town or within a short drive in adjacent communities. Most clinics offer same-day visits for common illnesses and minor injuries, with on-site labs and X-ray where needed. Use Solv to see real-time availability and book a slot before you walk in.
  • Does urgent care in Poth accept STAR (Texas Medicaid)?

Most urgent care clinics serving the Poth area accept STAR, the Texas Medicaid managed care program administered by Texas Health and Human Services. STAR is delivered through several managed care organizations (Amerigroup, Molina, Superior, United, etc.), so confirm with the specific clinic which MCOs they contract with before booking. Texas has not expanded Medicaid under the ACA, so working-age adults outside the standard STAR eligibility criteria typically do not qualify.
  • What insurance do urgent care centers in Poth accept?

Most Poth-area urgent care clinics accept commercial insurance plans (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Humana), Medicare, and TRICARE for active-duty military and veterans. Many also accept STAR (Texas Medicaid). Cash-pay and self-pay options are widely available — average urgent care visit costs run $100-$250 depending on services. Confirm your specific plan and copay with the clinic before booking.
  • Should I go to urgent care or the ER in Poth?

Urgent care handles non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries — flu, strep, UTIs, sprains, lacerations needing stitches, minor burns, ear infections, mild asthma flares — usually for a fraction of an ER bill and with shorter waits. Go to the ER (or call 911) for chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe trauma, difficulty breathing, severe abdominal pain, head injury with confusion, or any condition that feels life-threatening. The nearest hospital ER for Poth residents is Connally Memorial Medical Center (Floresville).
  • How far is the nearest urgent care from Poth, TX?

Most Poth residents drive 10–15 minutes northwest to Floresville for walk-in urgent care, or 30–40 minutes into southern San Antonio for a fuller selection of clinics and pediatric-specific urgent care. For non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries, urgent care is almost always faster and cheaper than the ER — book online to confirm availability before driving in.
