I have been miserable. I don’t like going to the doctor because I think “I’ll get better”. Went to acute care. OMG. In and out within 30 mins. The provider gave me multiple RXs to deal with my issues. Horrible cough, congestion, headache, itchy eyes…definitely miserable. Four days later…feeling better.

Tamara at Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care was phenomenal. She demonstrated an extraordinary ability to balance care, efficiency, and effectiveness while helping this grandmother navigate concerns involving potential cost, technology, and the delicate responsibility of communicating with my grandson’s parents. I had come from an ophthalmology appointment earlier that day where my eyes had been dilated, leaving me unable to read the small print on my screen. Tamara immediately adapted. She helped me navigate the technology and get screenshots transferred into the system so the information could get where it needed to go. But Tamara didn’t simply answer questions or provide technical assistance. She listened, problem-solved, and even negotiated to help find a workable solution. She understood that this wasn’t simply about an appointment or a bill. It was about helping a grandmother care for her grandson while respecting his parents, considering the potential cost, and making sure everyone had the information needed to make a good decision. Tamara combined compassion with competence and turned what could have been a frustrating situation into a manageable one. Her ability to provide care with efficiency and effectiveness—while never losing the human element—was exceptional. Little Spurs is very fortunate to have Tamara.

I would get rid of the option to make an appointment all together. There’s absolutely no reason for it since you’re never seen at that time. Medical staff was nice and understanding.

Urgent care
When checking in at the Texas MedClinic waiting time was lengthy, but once we were called to the back. The Medical Assistant was absolutely very Thorough has a excellent personality I would like if Esther skills were passed on to the intire team. The Doctor also was very thorough and explaining over the treatment and follow up. I diffently would recommend this facility. Just make sure and register online before arriving so it can cut down on the waiting time.

Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience at this location. The pediatrician/NP was great and I have no complaints about the medical provider, but the front desk staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. There was absolutely no courtesy or respect in the way we were spoken to. As parents bringing in our children, we should not be made to feel like we are an inconvenience or be talked to like we're garbage. I especially had a poor experience with the woman at the front desk who wears glasses. The customer service was unacceptable. We also accidentally left a pair of glasses behind, and instead of the situation being handled professionally, it added to an already frustrating experience. I would recommend going to the Fredericksburg location or another Little Spurs location instead. The medical provider here was good, but unfortunately the front desk experience was enough that I would not return to this location because that front staff is absolutely so rude. Wasn’t to happy with provider she kept telling my daughter to look straight like it mattered when she was just listening to her lungs?! Didn’t see why that mattered . And kept saying sit up straight. As if she didn’t feel good already and she came in being bossy. That’s not what I went in for.other staff was nice and friendly.

Staff was extremely friendly, had a slight wait due to other appointments coming in but staff was very apologetic while still providing great care! Had a slight issue with the pharmacy the prescription was sent to and staff was quick to resend to another to make sure we could get it asap. Thank you!!

Urgent care in Boerne, TX

Boerne is a German-heritage Hill Country town northwest of San Antonio, growing rapidly with new master-planned communities along I-10 and SH-46. CHRISTUS Santa Rosa and Methodist Healthcare anchor local care. Compare local clinics or extend to the broader urgent care in San Antonio network.

What services do urgent care clinics in Boerne offer?

Urgent care clinics in Boerne, TX treat respiratory illness, lacerations, sports physicals, hill country recreation injuries, and routine pediatric care. CHRISTUS Santa Rosa anchors the closest large hospital with Methodist Healthcare operating ER and clinic locations along I-10; Texas MedClinic and several independent walk-in clinics provide additional capacity along Main Street and SH-46.2

Most Boerne-area urgent care clinics are open seven days a week, with extended weekday and weekend hours, on-site digital X-ray, basic in-house labs (rapid strep, flu, COVID-19, urinalysis), and standard suturing capability. Cash-pay rates and copays should be confirmed at booking; many clinics post transparent self-pay pricing online. Booking through Solv lets you compare clinic distance, real-time wait, and reviews before you commit, which often saves time during peak respiratory season (October–February) and back-to-school physical season (July–August).

Does urgent care in Boerne accept Texas STAR Medicaid?

Yes. Most Boerne urgent care clinics accept Texas STAR Medicaid managed-care plans, administered by Texas Health and Human Services.1 Verify your MCO is in-network before booking. KFF reports Kendall County, where Boerne sits, has below-average Medicaid enrollment compared with statewide rates.3

In addition to STAR, Texas runs CHIP (children's coverage), STAR+PLUS (Medicaid + Medicare for adults with disabilities), STAR Kids (Medicaid for children with disabilities), and STAR Health (foster care). Coverage rules differ across programs — patients should bring their MCO ID card, a state-issued photo ID, and any referral paperwork to a Boerne urgent care visit. If you're unsure whether a clinic accepts your specific Medicaid plan, call the clinic before booking or use Solv's in-network filter to narrow the list.

How does Boerne urgent care relate to San Antonio?

Boerne sits about 30 miles northwest of downtown San Antonio along I-10, in the Texas Hill Country. With an estimated 21,300 residents per U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts,4 Boerne anchors fast-growing Kendall County and serves as a regional retail hub for surrounding ranch and tourist communities. Founded by 19th-century German immigrants, the town retains a distinct cultural identity and Hauptstrasse downtown. For specialty care or after-hours visits, residents route to urgent care in San Antonio.

For most non-life-threatening problems, an urgent care visit is faster and considerably less expensive than the ER. KFF research consistently shows the average emergency department visit costs several times what a comparable urgent care visit costs, even before insurance.3 Patients in Boerne who can't get into a local urgent care clinic often have shorter waits at clinics in adjacent suburbs, and most major hospital networks — including CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – Westover Hills — share medical records across affiliated locations, so visiting a sister clinic generally doesn't fragment your care.

Common reasons Boerne residents book urgent care include sore throats, ear infections, urinary tract infections, sprains and minor fractures, lacerations, low-grade fevers, mild allergic reactions, rashes, eye irritation, and routine school or sports physicals. For chest pain, stroke symptoms (sudden weakness, slurred speech, vision loss), severe abdominal pain, head injury with confusion or loss of consciousness, major bleeding, severe burns, or any breathing difficulty, the ER — including Methodist Boerne ER (and CHRISTUS Santa Rosa – Westover Hills further south) — is the right choice. Telehealth is another option for clear-cut viral illnesses or prescription refills, and many Boerne-area urgent care brands offer same-day virtual visits in addition to in-person care.

Urgent Care Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are there urgent care clinics in Boerne?

Yes — Boerne, TX has urgent care options serving routine illness and injury, school and sports physicals, lab tests, and on-site X-ray for common needs. Solv lists local clinics with same-day availability, transparent pricing, and online booking so you can hold a time before walking in.
  • Does urgent care in Boerne accept Texas STAR Medicaid?

Yes. Most urgent care clinics in Boerne, TX accept Texas STAR Medicaid managed-care plans, though enrollment varies by clinic and managed-care organization (MCO). Texas STAR is administered by Texas HHS. Call ahead with your STAR plan ID to confirm the clinic is in-network for your specific MCO before your visit.

Most Boerne urgent care clinics accept commercial PPO and HMO plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, and Humana. • Should I go to urgent care or the ER in Boerne?

Visit the ER, including Methodist Boerne ER (and CHRISTUS Santa Rosa – Westover Hills further south), for chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe abdominal pain, head injury with loss of consciousness, uncontrolled bleeding, severe burns, or any condition you believe is life-threatening. When in doubt, call 911.
  • Do Boerne urgent care clinics see Hill Country recreation injuries?

Yes. Boerne urgent care clinics regularly treat hiking, biking, kayaking, and tubing injuries from the Cibolo Creek, Guadalupe River, and Hill Country state parks — sprains, lacerations, dehydration, and tick-borne concerns. For severe head injuries, suspected fractures, or major trauma, go to the ER rather than urgent care.
