I love the doctor here. He is really caring and actually builds a report with his patients even though it's basically a walk in clinic. I had been there over the summer a few times and here we are November and he remembered me. I think when doctors take the time to build relationships with patients it makes the experience much more personal and the quality always much more efficient. The check in process is simple. And making the appointment is also extremely easy I always get in the same day ...either by their user friendly app or the actual have a live person answer the phone and do it for u. Best walk in clinic I have ever experienced

West Haven Chlamydia Testing

Who should get tested for chlamydia?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for chlamydia, especially if they have multiple partners or do not regularly use protection. This sexually transmitted infection (STI) often shows no symptoms, making regular testing crucial for prevention and treatment. According to the CDC, sexually active women under 25, men who have sex with men, and individuals with HIV are at a higher risk and should be tested annually.

Importance of getting tested

Chlamydia is a common STI that can have serious health consequences if left untreated, including infertility and increased risk of other STIs. Early detection through testing allows for effective treatment, reducing the risk of complications. It also helps prevent the spread of the infection to others.

Chlamydia testing options in West Haven, CT:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care centers such as PhysicianOne Urgent Care in Orange, CT, and Priority Urgent Care in East Haven, CT, offer chlamydia testing. These facilities often have shorter wait times than traditional doctor's offices and can provide same-day or next-day appointments through Solv’s website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Your primary care provider can also test for chlamydia. Regular check-ups are a good opportunity to discuss any concerns and get tested.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers often provide free or low-cost testing for chlamydia and other STIs. These centers are a valuable resource for those without insurance or with limited financial resources.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits are also available for those who prefer privacy. These kits can be ordered online, completed at home, and sent back to a lab for results.

Prevalence of chlamydia in West Haven

West Haven, located in New Haven County, CT, is part of a region with a higher than average rate of chlamydia compared to national data. According to the CDC, New Haven County has seen an upward trend in chlamydia cases over the past few years, a trend mirrored in nearby cities such as New Haven, Orange, and East Haven.

Risk factors related to chlamydia in West Haven

Risk factors for chlamydia in West Haven include unprotected sex, multiple sexual partners, and being under the age of 25. The increase in chlamydia cases in the area may be attributed to these factors, along with a lack of regular testing.

Other STDs in West Haven

In addition to chlamydia, other STDs such as gonorrhea, HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis are also prevalent in West Haven and surrounding areas. Regular testing for all STDs/STIs is recommended for sexually active individuals, particularly those with risk factors.
