I visited here for the first time and had a great experience from start to finish. Everyone I encountered, from the front office staff to the nurse and doctor, was incredibly kind and welcoming. I scheduled my appointment in advance and was seen right on time, with no waiting at all. The entire process was smooth, efficient, and professional. I truly appreciate the warm atmosphere and excellent service. I’ll definitely be returning and would recommend Physicians United Urgent Care to anyone looking for a pleasant and timely visit.

The nurse was awesome. I forgot her name but I won't forget her care/vlondush brown long hair, light skin, energetic, happy, caring and and polite and didn't hurt with the Covid swab nor with her the shots she gave. The girl who checked me in was nice and efficient and the girl who checked me out and gave me my work excuse was very nice and chatty though it was about time for them to close and was also efficient. And last but not least was Jason the Dr/nurse practioner was spot on with his diagnosis and meds and was great, polite and professional. Thanks everyone!!!

Urgent care
I’ve been a patient of Dr Brown and his staff for about 3 years and My monthly visits have been GREAT! I’ve had my problem for 19 years and I had to find a doctor here that could continue my treatment because my previous Doctor is in Texas and I moved home so I had to find someone local. And the reason why I mention that is because for 19 years I’ve been treated by doctors when I lived in Alabama and Texas and they just couldn’t seem to get me where I needed to be and I remember my first visit to Dr. Brown, I was explaining to him about my condition because they didn’t have my medical records yet from Texas, and he looked at me and said, if you can’t laugh about your condition then your condition wins. And every month I go in there for medication refills and It’s always that TOPNOTCH LEVEL OF CARE!!!! For almost 20 years of being treated for this crazy condition that I have, Dr. Brown and his staff and his nurse practitioner Are the only ones who really truly listend to me, and finally I’m able to live my life the way I wanna live it! And I totally owe that to Dr. Brown and the entire staff!!!! I wished 19 years ago that Dr. Brown was my doctor because I truly believe the last 19 years of my life would’ve been a lot better! My hats off to Dr. Brown and his staff, they’re the best medical team I’ve ever been a patient of and I will never choose any other doctor but Dr. Brown and his staff! I am finally me! Thank you Dr Brown and everyone at Martinez Urgent Care for treating me like a member of a family and not just a chart, and listening to me when I tell them what’s wrong, they never rush me and Dr. Brown and his nurse practitioner always make time to listen no matter how busy they are! If you’re looking for a doctor with a staff that goes above and beyond then Martinez urgent care is the place you should go!! It’s because of Dr Brown, APRN Miller, the nurses and staff that after being treated for this for 19 years I’m finally able to live my life instead of just existing. So from Alabama to Texas, Martinez Urgent Care beats them all! Thank you Dr Brown and the ENTIRE staff for you’re awesome, top notch care!!!!

Urgent Care in Augusta, GA

Augusta is the only US city where a single county hosts both the US Army's Cyber Center of Excellence and a 520-bed academic medical center that just completed the largest health-system merger in Georgia. Fort Gordon — briefly renamed Fort Eisenhower from 2023 to 2025 before reverting to Fort Gordon on June 11, 2025, now named after Medal of Honor recipient Master Sergeant Gary Gordon — is home to the US Army Cyber Command, the Cyber Center of Excellence, and the NSA Georgia Cryptologic Center.1 Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center, the academic teaching hospital for the Medical College of Georgia, completed its merger with Wellstar Health System on August 30, 2023, creating the largest health system in Georgia.2 Augusta's walk-in care market sits at the seam of military health, academic medicine, and Georgia's Medicaid non-expansion coverage gap.

Which urgent care clinics serve Augusta?

Wellstar Urgent Care operates locations in Evans, Grovetown, and South Augusta, with Wellstar Virtual Urgent Care available for telehealth visits.3 AFC Urgent Care and Doctors Hospital Express Care round out the metro walk-in market. For active-duty service members, dependents, and TRICARE-eligible retirees, Eisenhower Army Medical Center on Fort Gordon currently provides primary care, specialty care, emergency services, OB/GYN, behavioral health, pediatrics, and dental — though the Defense Health Agency has announced plans to transition EAMC into an ambulatory care center, ending inpatient care, with the emergency room becoming an urgent care facility.4 For non-trauma walk-in needs, urgent care in Augusta is dramatically faster and lower-cost than the Wellstar MCG ED.

When should you choose urgent care over the ER in Augusta?

Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center is a 520-bed academic tertiary hospital with an 88-bed Emergency Department covering Augusta and the surrounding 13-county catchment, including dedicated critical-care and pediatric emergency areas.5 The ED reserves its resources for chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe bleeding, head trauma, difficulty breathing, broken bones with deformity, and major injury. For fevers, urinary tract infections, ear infections, sprains, minor cuts, sore throats, and mild respiratory illness, urgent care is the right setting. Doctors Hospital posts real-time ER wait times online, which often run well over an hour during peak respiratory season. For chest pain, stroke symptoms, or major trauma, call 911 or go directly to the nearest ED.

What conditions do Augusta urgent care clinics treat?

Augusta walk-in clinics handle the full range of non-trauma care: respiratory infections, ear infections, urinary tract infections, skin infections, minor lacerations and burns, sprains and strains, fractures requiring splinting, vomiting and diarrhea, pink eye, mild allergic reactions, and rashes. Most Augusta urgent care clinics offer DOT physicals in Augusta — relevant for I-20 and I-520 commercial driving and Augusta's logistics workforce — and sports physicals in Augusta for Richmond, Columbia, and Aiken County student athletes. Wellstar MCG Health provides medical support for major Augusta events including Augusta National's Masters Tournament, the Augusta Southern Nationals drag boat race, and the Ironman 70.3 Augusta triathlon — with urgent care clinics absorbing the routine illness and minor injury volume that surrounds these events.

How do Augusta urgent care clinics handle Georgia Medicaid and insurance?

Georgia is one of ten states that has not expanded Medicaid under the ACA, leaving an estimated 200,000+ Georgians in the coverage gap — earning too much for traditional Medicaid but too little for ACA marketplace subsidies. Georgia Pathways to Coverage, the state's limited work-requirement program launched in July 2023, has enrolled only a fraction of the eligible population.6 Georgia Medicaid is administered through three Care Management Organizations: Amerigroup Community Care, CareSource Georgia, and Peach State Health Plan. Most Augusta urgent care clinics — Wellstar Urgent Care, AFC, and Doctors Hospital Express Care — accept all three Georgia Medicaid CMOs, but Richmond County's higher uninsured rate (estimated at 14–17% under-65) means urgent care clinics see meaningful self-pay volume. Wellstar offers financial assistance for low-income uninsured patients meeting eligibility criteria.

What city-specific health context drives urgent care demand in Augusta?

Three Augusta-specific demand drivers stand out. First, the Fort Gordon military population — including roughly 16,000 active-duty Army personnel, civilians, contractors, and their families — uses both EAMC and the off-base urgent care network, with off-base volume expected to grow as DHA transitions EAMC inpatient care to ambulatory.4 Second, the Augusta National Masters Tournament drives a measurable April spike in tourist illness and minor-injury urgent care visits across the metro. Third, Augusta's location on the Savannah River and South Carolina border generates dual-state patient flow, with North Augusta SC residents commonly crossing into Georgia for Wellstar MCG care, and Aiken County residents using Augusta urgent care for routine illness. Wellstar MCG's NCI-designated Georgia Cancer Center and the planned $50M+ Wellstar campus investments since the 2023 merger have positioned Augusta as the academic medical hub for the Central Savannah River Area.2

Urgent Care FAQs

  • How long are urgent care wait times in Augusta compared to the ER?

Augusta urgent care wait times typically run 30 minutes to 90 minutes for walk-ins, with online check-in often reducing that significantly. Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center's 88-bed Emergency Department, the regional academic ED for 13 counties, can run 3 to 6 hours during peak respiratory season. For non-emergencies, urgent care is dramatically faster.
  • Do Augusta urgent care clinics accept Georgia Medicaid?

Most Augusta urgent care clinics accept Georgia Medicaid through the state's three Care Management Organizations: Amerigroup Community Care, CareSource Georgia, and Peach State Health Plan. Georgia has not expanded Medicaid under the ACA, leaving an estimated 200,000+ Georgians in the coverage gap. Georgia Pathways to Coverage, the state's limited work-requirement program launched July 2023, covers a much narrower group.
  • When should I go to the ER instead of urgent care in Augusta?

Go to the ER or call 911 for chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe bleeding, head trauma, difficulty breathing, severe abdominal pain, broken bones with deformity, or major trauma. Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center is the region's 520-bed academic tertiary hospital with an 88-bed Emergency Department dedicated to critical and pediatric care.
  • Are there 24-hour urgent care clinics in Augusta?

Most Augusta urgent care clinics close by 8 or 9 p.m. For after-hours non-emergency care, Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center and Doctors Hospital emergency departments are open 24/7. Wellstar Virtual Urgent Care is available for evening telehealth video visits.
  • Do Augusta urgent care clinics serve Fort Gordon TRICARE families?

Many off-base Augusta urgent care clinics accept TRICARE for active-duty service members, dependents, and TRICARE-eligible retirees. TRICARE Prime members typically need a referral from their primary care manager at Eisenhower Army Medical Center for non-emergency urgent care visits outside the military treatment facility network. TRICARE Select members can self-refer to most off-base urgent care.
  • Can I get a sports physical or DOT physical at urgent care in Augusta?

Yes — most Augusta urgent care clinics offer sports physicals for Richmond, Columbia, and Aiken County student athletes, and DOT physicals for commercial drivers on I-20 and I-520. Wellstar Urgent Care, AFC, and Doctors Hospital Express Care all offer these services, typically without an appointment. Sports physicals usually run $25–$75 cash-pay; DOT physicals run $75–$150 depending on the clinic.
  • How does the Masters Tournament affect urgent care in Augusta?

Augusta National's Masters Tournament drives a measurable April spike in tourist illness and minor-injury urgent care volume across the metro. Wellstar MCG Health provides direct medical support inside Augusta National for the tournament, while Wellstar Urgent Care, AFC, and Doctors Hospital Express Care absorb the surrounding visitor walk-in volume for routine illness, dehydration, sunburn, and minor injuries during tournament week.

I had a video chat at 3:13 PM on Friday, December 4 and they were running behind so I waited and I got a call from a lady and she was very very nice and she apologized for the way and told me I could go today the tent and be tested at Summit urgent care and Newnan and the girl was incredibly nice very helpful very thoughtful great bedside manner and pretty cute too. So all in all I am waiting on my results in the parking lot right now it has been a very pleasant experience and I would recommend this to my coworkers family and friends. However this should be no surprise to anyone because they care and treatment you received at Summit is always a five-star experience or at least in my ears and has always been a five-star experience so kudos to summit kudos to you guys God bless merry Christmas and happy birthday to me I’m negative.

Amazing. Nurse Charles was top notch GREAT. He was very kind to my little boy, 3 yrs old. He tried all tests (temp, oxygen, heart rate) on me to make sure equipment worked properly before waking my very sick child to work him up. I thought was above and beyond compassionate and really appreciated his kindness. He explained all tests to me before doing anything to him (strep, flu, and covid). We were checked on frequently. He was seen quickly but i did not feel like we were being rushed in and out. The NP or PA who saw him was great as well. She was very kind and made sure all concerns were addressed. I've been to CMS urgent care before and I've always been happy with the care I've received. Thanks again Charles for your kindness and care. We appreciate you!

My first time visiting Atlanta Plus Urgent Care! My Mom, my husband and I all needed Covid testing. Being concern of not wanting to expose my Mom to any additional germs Cierra was very polite and professional about giving us the option to sit in the car until it was our time. She was also very thorough with the intake process. Once we were called in Janel continued the exceptional professionalism your business offers. Janel proceeded to process of 3 of us without missing a step. I will wholeheartedly recommend APUC and will definitely be back when services are needed.

For the past few days I’d been feeling like I had an upper respiratory infection. I had also just returned from a trip and began experiencing COVID symptoms. I woke up this morning and felt like I needed to see a doctor. I googled the the nearest Piedmont Urgent Care center and saw that they had virtual appointments as early as 6 am! I scheduled an appointment and the provider agreed I needed to be tested for covid and also called in some prescriptions for me. This was a great experience where I was able to seek care from my home and I will definitely utilize this service again.

I normally don’t use a short time facility, my doctor is readily available or I have to go to the hospital for heart issues. This day I had an ear infection and decided to see someone quickly and in person. I now know I would gladly go back to this Urgent Care anytime! It was a very good experience! Everyone seemed very caring and professional! I would completely recommend this authentic care, matter of fact, my granddaughter needed to be seen and she went to this same Urgent Care on my recommendation and was also satisfied with her experience!

The front desk associates greeted us when we walked in. They were friendly and waiting to assist us. Dr. Mitchell Harvey, was OUTSTANDING. She did a thorough physical on my twins and then pointed out issues that she discovered while checking them. Dr. Mitchell Harvey was very patient and I really felt welcome at this location. She listened to the twins and answered all of their many questions that they asked. We will never go to another urgent care but this one. Customer service, caring and overall professionalism is 100% here!! J Johnson

My visit was amazing from start to finish. Maddie from check in went extremely out of her way and stayed on hold for 40 minutes because another provider was accidentally in MyChart (my PCP couldn’t get me in after trying). My provider Denise C. was friendly, knowledgeable and provided great advise. I’m so thankful Piedmont Urgent Care (or Summit as I will always call it) is available 8-8 weekdays and open 365 days a year! Keep up the great customer service and patient care. To me, You’re the #1 urgent care in GA!

When attempting to sign up for a virtual visit from Summit Urgent Care, I have to type all of my information in multiple times even though I have used SOLV before multiple times. It’s really frustrating that the information entered is cleared if the time slot you selected is taken by someone else before you get your information entered (forcing you to re-enter it repeatedly). I almost gave up trying to schedule a virtual visit today. I even called Summit directly before trying one more time online and getting through. When I tried to schedule via the SOLV app I couldn’t find our Summit Urgent care as an option - I had to go to the Summit web site then follow the link to SOLV and then try multiple times to pick a time slot and enter all of my information quickly enough to get scheduled. It’s very frustrating using SOLV with Summit Urgent Care.

I had a virtual visit, with everything going on right now, it’s super convenient! The Doctor was informative, very kind, caring, and it was quick! I refuse to use another urgent care.. I’ve been using you guys for about 4 years now and have recommended many times. Keep up the amazing work, and thank you essential workers for your dedication, time, and for literally being on the front lines with everything going on in the country. You guys are people that we cannot do without, and you all need raises and paid vacations for your work! Thank you again.

I love this Urgent Care. She told me about a home remedy that will help with my Plantar Fasciitis that I did last night and today I felt amazing! I walked in the urgent care 3 minutes before closing and they welcomed me with a smile! The speed of service is always great. I arrived at *** pm and left at *** and that included getting X-rays done on both of my feet. The Doctor that saw me today has been the same one that seen me in the past and I love her!! Best Urgent care by-far!!

Thinking that the call was starting immediately, but it starting much later made us think something was terribly wrong, like we needed to start the process all over. There ahould be some type of notification that states that someone will be with you momentarily. We almost hung up. Other than that, the doctor (Chaffin) was wonderfully responsive. She addressed all of our concerns, attained some background knowledge, and made a decision very much in line with my son's primary pediatrician. She said we made the right decision to use a virtual doctor with my son's history of asthma, because they would have placed him in a tent with those at high risk for COVID-19. We are very pleased and appreciative! Prescriptions are following his visit to address his short term and long term asthma needs during this precarious spring season. Great job Dr. Chaffin and Summit Urgent Care!

This was my 1st experience with a virtual Dr. visit of any kind, and I was slightly apprehensive. However, I had a HORRIBLE migraine and even the though of driving to Urgent Care made it worse. The process to sign up took a few minutes and I did have to wait about 5 minutes, but considering when I scheduled the appointment time, there were literally appointments within 10 minutes. The Dr. came on the video call and though he could see me, he could not hear me. So he simply disconnected and just called me. He was very nice. Asked the right questions but wasn’t overly asking a million things. He promptly told me what medications he was calling into the pharmacy and even offered to call in some anti nausea meds. The whole appointment in clouding waiting on line took a total of maybe 5 minutes. I was overly impressed and immediately sent my husband to pick up my meds. Was getting a lot better in 2 hours. Highly recommend!!

- Verified patient on 8/28

The provider for the virtual visit was extremely helpful during the process. And the staff at the urgent care were friendly. One concern/observation while at the location: a patient entered stating she was exposed to COVID and had symptoms and the lady at the front desk suggest she go to Target to wait for her appointment time. I don’t think you should be making that suggestion (sending someone to a public store full of people) as medical professionals especially when the patient specifically stated to had been exposed and experiencing symptoms. Just a thought.

Rebecca (she may have spelled her name differently) was WONDERFUL and kind. She really put me at ease and listened to my concerns and symptoms. She seemed to really understand and treat me effectively. The nurse who called me ahead of my virtual appointment was also incredibly kind. I really appreciated the quality of care and how extraordinarily quickly I was seen after making a request for an appointment. From the website to the paperwork process to the virtual visit, this was a smooth, comfortable, and pleasant experience. I had never been to this urgent care before, but I will definitely plan to come back as needed. (Also, I very rarely write reviews, but I genuinely felt compelled by the quality.) Thank you so much.

Tonya, Star and the Doctor were INCREDIBLE!!! My child is special needs and simply needed a routine rapid covid test for pre-op for surgery. It was the easiest process. They let me stay in my car with my child until it was time for him to be seen. The office is very clean. I appreciate the staff going above and beyond to meet the needs for my child. They were quick to get me the results sent via email so that I could send it on to the surgery center in Atlanta. THANK YOU REDMOND URGENT CARE!!!

- Verified patient on 10/6

My virtual visit was easy to schedule and the provider was friendly and reassuring during the visit, but the lack of follow up mechanisms is concerning. After my visit, I realized that I want to have the influenza test in addition to the COVID test given my Upper respiratory symptoms because the urgent care administering the tests refused to give me the Influenza test without an order from this provider. I had no way to contact this specific provider following the visit to request this test be added, because she was only associated with virtual visits, not a brick and mortar location. I was only given the option to schedule a separate visit with another provider (at full cost). I’ve checked with my physician’s office and the my are no longer administering the flu test The lack of follow up methods and rigid protocols at the urgent care facility have been difficult to navigate. I had no idea that I would have an easier time getting a COVID test than an influenza test during flu season.

- Verified patient on 11/22

The doctor who provided car during the virtual visit was amazing, as was the care provider who actually conducted the Covid swab for the testing. However, the in person check in procedure at the urgent care center could definitely be streamlined to limit exposure and wait times. Even though all three of my fault members had already completed paperwork and a virtual visit and just needed to alert staff that we had arrived, we waited in line in the waiting room for 12 minutes behind others who had not done those things and this had more extensive needs from the front desk staff.

- Verified patient on 9/12

The medical provider was excellent, empathetic, and went above and beyond to make sure I could feel better. I am so appreciative of her care and understanding. She deserves praise and recognition for her contined empathy given the times we are in and burn out is high. I should know as I am a mental health care provider myself and during "normal" times it is hard, but during pandemic times its draining and exhausting even more. Please take care of her and the staff that support her and your urgent care team. Also I am crying from pain and want this to be known because her care made me in my pain feel so compelled to write this. Her commitment should be recognized and commended. Thank you.

veery great experience with the doctor but I have not 1 note on my past visit today on January 22nd, ***. I liked the care I received from the Doctor but go to Walgreens that is supposed to open and it is closed before the closing hours states. None of the medications I was prescribed which is Bactrum and Prednisone. I've always had nothing but Wonderful Service from Summit Urgent Care but I have a severe spider bite that I was taking antibiotics for until I could see the doctor and I'm unable to pick up my prescribed meds and really need that medication tonight but it looks like I'll suffer in pain and sickness from the Cellulitis that I'm diagnosed with from staying at the Red Roof Inn and Suites in Newnan, Ga

I severely dislocated the middle finger on my left hand while visiting from out of state. The staff @ AppleCare Urgent Care were friendly & outstanding, and treated me within minutes of being registered. I was able to return to Roebling Road Raceway to participate in a race later that same afternoon. I was treated with the utmost courtesy & respect from the entire staff and the Doctor was top notch and very thorough. I just happen to work with Doctor's, Radiologist's, Nurses & staff in hospitals on a daily basis myself, so I know a thing or two about what constitutes good service and the folks at AppleCare surpassed all my expectations. Keep up the great work! Sincerely, Sidney Danals
