I brought my grandmother to be seen for a severe cold and sinus infection- ended up being bacterial bronchitis! She was treated respectfully and all questions were answered professionally and thoroughly. The waiting room was empty- don’t know if that was luck or not but we were in and out within 20 minutes, prescription in hand. Sam, our PA was wonderful. Would definitely recommend.

Friendly Staff

The young lady checking in patients on 9/8/21 was so sweet & helpful. Nurse practitioner Philip Olshinski was also extremely kind. Super nice and what you'd hope for with providers. The place is not fancy, but I was treated so nice. Thanks as I know you all are extra busy during these stressful times.

About Gonorrhea Testing

Who should get tested for gonorrhea?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), anyone who is sexually active can get gonorrhea. However, certain groups are at a higher risk and should consider regular testing. These include sexually active women under 25, men who have sex with men, and individuals with new or multiple sex partners. Those who have been previously diagnosed with a sexually transmitted disease (STD) or have a partner who has an STD should also get tested.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for gonorrhea is crucial as it can lead to serious health problems if left untreated. For women, it can cause pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) which can lead to infertility or ectopic pregnancy. Men may experience painful conditions in the tubes attached to the testicles, which can lead to infertility. Additionally, gonorrhea can increase your risk of getting or giving HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Regular testing allows for early detection and treatment, preventing these complications.

Gonorrhea testing options in Burlington, NC:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics are excellent options for gonorrhea testing. They offer convenience, with same-day and next-day appointments available through Solv. One highly rated option in Burlington is NextCare Urgent Care, with a 4.72 rating and 5768 reviews.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another reliable source for STD testing. They can provide continuity of care and follow-up treatment if necessary. If you don't have a primary care provider, Solv can help you find one in your area.

Free STD testing and community health centers

For those without insurance or with financial constraints, free STD testing and community health centers are available. These centers provide confidential testing and treatment, often on a sliding fee scale based on income.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits are also available for those who prefer privacy. These kits can be ordered online, used at home and sent back to a lab for analysis. Results are usually available within a few days.

Prevalence of gonorrhea in Burlington

According to the CDC, Burlington, located in Alamance County, has seen a steady increase in gonorrhea cases over the past few years. This trend is consistent with national data, which shows an increase in gonorrhea cases across the country. Comparatively, Burlington's gonorrhea rates are higher than those in nearby counties such as Raleigh, Rappahannock, Fayette, Madison, and Augusta.

Risk factors related to gonorrhea in Burlington

Risk factors for gonorrhea in Burlington include unprotected sex, multiple sexual partners, and previous STDs. Additionally, younger individuals and men who have sex with men are at a higher risk.

Other STDs in Burlington

In addition to gonorrhea, other prevalent STDs in Burlington include chlamydia, HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis. Chlamydia is the most common, with rates higher than the national average. The rates of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis, while lower than gonorrhea and chlamydia, are still a significant concern. Regular testing for all STDs is recommended for those at risk.
