Sarah and Sohail were excellent. Sarah took various tests to determine what was the best treatment for me. I had a cold with Strep throat. I was suffering tremendously with congestion, coughing, along with losing my voice. As soon as she began treatment I felt a world of difference along with the injection that Sohail gave me. Highly recommend this urgent care. Very clean, very friendly. There was no wait time at all, and I made the appointment along with paper work on time.

Having been a nurse for 44 years, I had hoped the doctor would have taken an adequate medical history from me, but it seemed he only had a minute or two allotted for my visit type. My chief complaint was urinary frequency, urgency and hesitancy, and no pain, however, I had been on Augmentin for 3 days with little relief and new onset nausea and diarrhea, which he did not address. His advice was to continue the med until the culture returned, but the UA was negative, making the culture an unnecessary expense and furthering my discomfort. I discontinued the Augmentin after diarrhea and several doses of Imodium. Please evaluate your patients after listening to ALL their complaints. Thank you.

My first time here as a new patient. The wait was maybe 10 minutes if that. The fact that this Henry Ford facility has access to your My Chart on the Epic system made the transition to a new facility easy. A very nice building and an convenient location. Staff was friendly and professional. The Nurse Practitioner I saw knew exactly what was going on with my condition and friendly. I would definitely recommend Henry Ford Go Health Urgent Care.

Dearborn HIV Testing

Who should get tested for HIVs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for HIV, especially if they have multiple partners or engage in unprotected sex. According to the CDC, individuals who share needles or work in healthcare settings where they could be exposed to needlesticks or other sharp objects should also get tested. It's important to remember that HIV can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, race, or sexual orientation.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for HIV is crucial for both personal health and the health of others. Early detection can lead to early treatment, which can significantly improve long-term health outcomes and reduce the risk of transmission. According to the CDC, an estimated 1.2 million people in the United States have HIV, and one in seven of them don't know they have it. Therefore, knowing your status is a vital step in controlling the spread of this disease.

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics offer convenient and quick HIV testing services. You can book same-day and next-day appointments at these locations through Solv’s website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another excellent option for HIV testing. They can provide a comprehensive health check-up and guide you through the testing process. If you have a longstanding relationship with your provider, this can be a comfortable and confidential setting for testing.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers often offer free or low-cost HIV testing. These centers are an important resource, particularly for individuals who may not have health insurance or who prefer a more community-oriented setting.

At-home testing

At-home HIV testing kits are another option. These kits allow you to take the test in the privacy of your own home and then send the sample to a lab for analysis. Results are usually available within a few days.

Prevalence of HIVs in Dearborn

Dearborn, located in Wayne County, MI, has seen a steady number of HIV cases over the years. While the exact number of cases fluctuates annually, the prevalence of HIV in Dearborn is generally lower than in nearby cities such as Melvindale, River Rouge, Allen Park, Lincoln Park, and Dearborn Heights. However, it's important to note that HIV prevalence can vary widely, and these numbers should not deter individuals from getting tested.

Risk factors related to HIVs in Dearborn

Risk factors for HIV in Dearborn are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include unprotected sex, multiple sexual partners, sharing needles, and lack of regular testing. Social and economic factors such as lack of access to healthcare, stigma, and discrimination can also increase the risk of HIV transmission.

Other STDs in Dearborn

In addition to HIV, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, and hepatitis are also prevalent in Dearborn. Regular testing for these STDs is also crucial, as they can often occur simultaneously with HIV. Like HIV, these diseases can be effectively managed with early detection and treatment.

HIV Test FAQs

  • Who should get an HIV test?

Everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 should take an HIV test at least once in their lives. Some people are more likely to get HIV and should be tested more regularly. Those who have had sex with an HIV-positive partner, those who inject drugs, sexually active gay men, and those who have unprotected sex are all included. You should get checked every 6-12 months if you have any of these risk factors.

  • How do they test for HIV?

Antibodies created by your body in reaction to the virus are examined in HIV tests. A blood test or a sample of cells obtained from the inside of the cheek can be used to do this. After that, the sample is transported to a lab, where a technician will look for antibodies.

  • How long should I wait to get an HIV test?

It can take a long time for your body to build enough antibodies for an HIV test to detect the illness if you become sick. It may take 3-12 weeks for your blood to contain adequate antibodies. Even if you have HIV, you could have a negative test result during this time.

  • How long will I have to wait for HIV test results in Dearborn?

Because the sample must be sent to a laboratory for investigation, most HIV test results might take anywhere from a few days to several weeks. On the other hand, some Dearborn clinics or doctor's offices may offer rapid HIV testing, which can deliver a diagnosis in as little as 20 minutes. Rapid HIV testing involve a little sample of blood or fluid obtained from the mouth. You'll need a follow-up blood test to confirm the diagnosis if a fast test comes up positive.

  • How much does an HIV test cost?

A variety of factors influence the cost of an HIV test, including the type of test you receive, the location where you are tested, and whether or not you have health insurance. HIV testing may be provided for free or at a low cost by some clinics or health authorities. If you're a college student, you might be able to get free HIV tests through your school.

  • Is HIV testing covered by my insurance?

The majority of insurance coverage cover HIV testing. The Affordable Care Act mandates that all new health plans provide free HIV testing for those aged 15 to 65. If you have any doubts about what is covered under your individual health plan, you can always call your insurance company or go to their website.

  • Where can I get an HIV test in Dearborn?

Many Dearborn health clinics, doctor's offices, and the health department offer HIV testing. Some pharmacies with on-site clinics may also be able to give HIV testing. Even though some clinics accept walk-in appointments, making an appointment ahead of time will save you time and ensure that you receive your test on the same day.

  • Can I get a same-day appointment for HIV testing?

Yes, Solv offers same-day and next-day HIV testing appointments. We collaborate with thousands of healthcare providers across the country to make it easier for everyone to access the medical assistance they require quickly and conveniently. On our website, you can choose a physician near you and make an appointment right now.

  • How can I book an HIV test on Solv?

Fill out the form to arrange an appointment at a time and location that is convenient for you. Make certain that your appointment is for "HIV testing."

  • Can I test myself for HIV at home?

Although there are several home HIV tests available, not all of them are accurate or FDA-approved. For a home test, you'll need a swab from the inside of your mouth or a blood sample taken with a finger pricker. If you get a positive result on a home HIV test, you should see a doctor to confirm the diagnosis and start treatment.
