Professional Urgent Care Services, St. Petersburg - 640 Tyrone Blvd N
Scheduling went well. I was told by the PA that I had allergies when in fact I knew it was more than that. When the Physician came in he told me that I had a cold. The PA told me that a temperature of 99.9 is not considered a fever, only 100.4 is. I told the PA that my normal body temperature it 97.3, and now it's up to 99.9, so something must be going on. When I asked for a prescription for an inhaler for my wheezing I couldn't get one, even though my personal physician always had in the past. I was given OTC prescriptions for allergies, but like most urgent cares, they never really help. The PA also didn't offer a covid test which the physician eventually did. Thank God it was negative. The rooms were small with poor circulation. After waiting for quite some time, I opened the door to get some fresh air, only to have it closed by the front desk. I'm sure they tried their best, but being prescribed with OTC meds when it's not what I needed, meant I was not diagnosed properly.

About Prostate Screening (PSA) Testing

Overview

Prostate Screening (PSA) Testing is a blood test used to measure the level of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in the blood. PSA is a protein produced by the prostate gland, and elevated PSA levels may indicate prostate conditions, such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or prostate cancer. PSA Testing is essential for early detection, diagnosis, and monitoring of prostate-related issues, helping healthcare providers assess prostate health and determine the appropriate course of action.

Who Should Get Tested

If you reside in Sarasota, Florida, and are a male aged 50 or older, or if you have a family history of prostate cancer, Prostate Screening (PSA) Testing is recommended. For individuals at higher risk, such as African American men or those with a family history of early-onset prostate cancer, testing may begin at age 45.

Tests Included in Prostate Screening (PSA) Testing

Prostate Screening (PSA) Testing includes the measurement of PSA levels in the blood.

Interpreting the Results

The interpretation of Prostate Screening (PSA) Testing results is based on the level of PSA in the blood. Elevated PSA levels may indicate prostate enlargement or the presence of prostate cancer. However, further evaluation, including a prostate biopsy, is necessary to confirm a cancer diagnosis.

Importance of Prostate Screening (PSA) Testing

Prostate Screening (PSA) Testing is important for:

  • Early detection of prostate conditions, including prostate cancer
  • Monitoring prostate health in individuals at risk of prostate issues
  • Guiding appropriate diagnostic procedures, such as a prostate biopsy
  • Initiating timely treatment for prostate cancer, if detected

Following the Test

After Prostate Screening (PSA) Testing, healthcare providers review the results with individuals and offer recommendations based on the findings. Elevated PSA levels may warrant additional tests, such as a prostate biopsy, to further evaluate the prostate and determine the appropriate treatment plan.

Prostate Screening (PSA) Testing is a critical tool for monitoring prostate health and detecting potential issues early in individuals in Sarasota, Florida. Early detection and appropriate management can significantly improve the prognosis for prostate conditions.
