This was my first visit there and I scheduled an appointment online and completed all the paperwork online. I arrived 10 minutes early and signed some documents and waited for an hour before I was called. The staff was nice and apologized for my wait and the doctor I saw was very nice but I doubt I’ll go back there

Tested positive for Covid on Sunday, made appt for Wednesday because I was feeling so sick. I wanted to make sure nothing else was going on. Doctor was rude from the get go and basically told me to suck it up and it wasn't necessary to miss work. Very condescending, she had a young man shadowing her and he was very nice- he did seem uncomfortable with her bedside manner.

About Syphilis Testing

Who should get tested for syphilis?

According to the CDC, anyone who is sexually active can get syphilis, but it is particularly prevalent among men who have sex with men. Pregnant women should also be tested for syphilis, as it can be passed from mother to child during pregnancy or childbirth, leading to serious health complications for the baby. If you've had unprotected sex, have multiple sexual partners, or are a man who has sex with men, it's important to get tested. If you live in Green, OH, or the surrounding areas, there are several testing options available to you.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for syphilis is crucial because, while the initial symptoms may be mild, the disease can have severe long-term consequences if left untreated, including damage to the heart, brain, and other organs. Syphilis can also increase your risk of contracting HIV. Fortunately, syphilis is easy to detect with a simple blood test and can be effectively treated with antibiotics if caught early.

Syphilis testing options in Green, OH:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care centers like Quickmed Urgent Care in Akron, Ravenna, and Medina are excellent options for same-day or next-day syphilis testing. These locations, which have high ratings and positive reviews, offer convenient, walk-in services. You can book appointments at these locations through Solv's website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Your primary care provider can also test for syphilis. If you have a regular doctor in Green, OH, or nearby cities like New Franklin or Uniontown, consider scheduling an appointment with them for testing.

Free STD testing and community health centers

There are also community health centers in and around Green that offer free or low-cost STD testing. These centers provide confidential testing and treatment services, regardless of your ability to pay.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits are another option if you prefer privacy. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and then sent to a lab for analysis. You'll receive your results via email or a secure online account.

Prevalence of syphilis in Green

While exact numbers for Green, OH, are not readily available, Summit County, where Green is located, has seen an increase in syphilis cases in recent years, mirroring a national trend. This increase emphasizes the importance of regular testing, particularly for those in high-risk groups.

Risk factors related to syphilis in Green

Risk factors for syphilis in Green are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include having unprotected sex, multiple sexual partners, or being a man who has sex with men. Other factors that can increase your risk include a history of other STDs and drug use.

Other STDs in Green

In addition to syphilis, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and hepatitis are also present in Green and surrounding areas. Regular testing is crucial for these as well, as they can also have serious health consequences if left untreated. Many of the same testing locations that offer syphilis testing also test for these other STDs.
