I woke up in the middle of the night with a painful sore throat and was pleasantly surprised that I could immediately schedule a same-day appointment online at the urgent care clinic. When I called in the morning, the staff was incredibly accommodating, helping me to get an even earlier slot. Their prompt and compassionate care really made a difference, easing my discomfort and offering peace of mind in a stressful situation.

Brittany was the best!! She was so kind and made me feel so comfortable, I had somewhat of a sensitive issue and she didn’t make me feel weird or bad at all! If I got the name wrong she’s the nurse who talked to me about finding a sea urchin on the beach, she is black, wore ponytail, long sleeve scrubs, probably the friendliest healthcare provider I’ve ever had!

The receptionist and the PA on duty for the day were awesome. The check in process was effortless and I was seen very quickly. The attention to detail referenced my visit and the care provided. I am visiting relatives from out of state and was welcomed with a smile and staff resolved my issues quickly. Cleanliness of the facility, everything had its place and staff worked well together. Great place to visit and have your medical needs attended too. Thank you,

My first time here as a new patient. The wait was maybe 10 minutes if that. The fact that this Henry Ford facility has access to your My Chart on the Epic system made the transition to a new facility easy. A very nice building and an convenient location. Staff was friendly and professional. The Nurse Practitioner I saw knew exactly what was going on with my condition and friendly. I would definitely recommend Henry Ford Go Health Urgent Care.

Recent COVID-19 Testing Reviews (20)

Overall it was a good experience. Very short due to all that was needed is just setting up a scheduled time to get swabbed. Having to set up a virtual visit to book a time for a COVID test I understand is probably a way to control the chaos and flow, but I also see this as a money grab as well for the convenience fo booking a time slot vs just waiting and hoping for not a large queue as a walk in. Since it requires a virtual visit that means that more than likely this counts as an "office visit" which then means there's a copay literally just to have a doctor say, "Yep, we'll have a scheduler reach out to you". Thankfully I have insurance to help cover whatever the copay might be. I understand that this is probably bigger than a Beaumont Urgent Care concern, but I just wanted to share my view on this.

- Verified patient on 4/1

I’m so glad I went to the Beaumont ER for my covid test. Was nervous to go there! Don’t be! Wow! So clean/so safe! Was immediately taken back to nice private room (the waiting room is kept empty) where I was quickly hooked up to EKG and oximetry for the whole visit. No,I was not in distress. First the mouth swab and IV for lab work. Mouth swab neg. and was administered the nasal swab (24-48 hrs).Saw the Dr. on board; listened to lungs. Share that everything so far looks great! All standard procedure. Was experiencing shortness of breath (not at that time) with previous *** diagnosis of early stage emphysema). SOB standard reason for chest X-ray and IV prednisone (took two seconds). So thorough! Script had been sent to my pharmacy for a new albuterol inhaler (old one is MIA) and 5 days of pred. Picked up on my way home. I recommend this for anyone needing testing; the walk in clinics where you swab yourself or relying on the quick test mouth swab isn’t reliable, as told to me now by three of my Dr’s. Highly recommend

- Verified patient on 12/8

I registered ahead and clicked the link to notify them when I arrived, but it wasn't specific about what I needed to do next. I ended up waiting in my car while they waited for me inside. That needs to be clearer. Once I was in, however, I was cared for well. The doctor there is funny and does a quick and comfortable covid test.

This is a wonderful option for people who are unable to meet with their primary for urgent concerns. I have also utilized this urgent care office multiple times for covid testing. They are always kindly accommodating to my specific needs. The wait time was not bad at all! I expected to wait much longer as we were delayed for the appointment arrival time. With covid concerns and in need of testing they were still able to accommodate me and my s/o for testing. Cinnamon has been a great provider to us at the Springfield Urgent Care. Her bedside manner and compassionate care shines through. She explained what was going on to the best of her knowledge with the symptoms we have and has provided us with guidance and a care plan to assist in fighting off whatever cold or virus we have. It seems that she truly cares about helping people well. I would definitely recommend this urgent care to my friends, family, or even a stranger looking for local care. Receptionists were friendly and accommodating as well. It think it's been my 3rd or 4th visit there. The consistency of quality of care is impressive. I'm so happy this urgent care is available in my area as pinckney/hamburg/whitmore lake residents now have and option other that going to a hospital in Ann Arbor. Keep up the fabulous care!

- Verified patient on 12/16

Waited over 2 hours for a COVID 19 test. Never saw any employee or staff member clean the lobby in between patients. COVID Testing ran out at 9:30am with only 26 tests able to be administered. Seems like a low amount available in the middle of a pandemic. Dr was friendly though. Test itself only took 5-7 min.

- Verified patient on 11/18

Thee only thing I do not like about this place is that they have people waiting to get a covid test in the same quite small lobby with those who are not as sick. The place is big enough to have them seperate. The doctor could have gave more explanation. Other than that, not too long of a wait and friendly staff for the most part. You can tell they are over worked :(

- Verified patient on 9/10

Lady who did me and my husband’s Covid tests today was very efficient and quick. I feel really bad because I mentioned that the lady who did it the last 2 times was more gentle. After thinking about it I think maybe the kind of swab was what caused the difference in experience as the lady was not unkind in anyway, even after I inelegantly said ‘ahhh, the other lady was more gentle’ after she did my first nostril. Even after my blunder she was as careful as she could be on my other nostril and was as careful as possible with my husband (his first covid test where he did not swab it himself). Not sure if this will get to the lady who did our tests, but if possible please tell her thank you and I’m sorry.

First time visiting this location. I was just going to come in for a Covid test, not expecting to see anyone except the nurse that was performing the Covid test. But to my surprise, I actually was able to see a nurse practitioner. I’m so glad that nurse practitioner, Jen, was available because she was very helpful and informative and really took the time to talk and listen as I had some other issues going on that she addressed. Also the nurse, Renee, was awesome. Very patient, kind and professional, as well as the front desk staff. My visit there was a 10! And I left with a full printout of the summary of my visit with all the written instructions. I highly recommend this location.

- Verified patient on 1/2

Easy fast appointment and check in. Both people who helped me were great. Helpful, friendly, open to answer questions. It was a great experience for a covid test.

- Verified patient on 11/27

the nurse administered the covid test and the pa who consulted us on it were great however the nurse/tech who initially met with us in the exam room to check vitals wasn’t apparently having a great day... she first asked if anything changed with my son’s chart... to the lay person, we didn’t really understand her question and i’m not sure we answered correctly... she then asked what his weight and height after walking past the scale and height measurement device to get to the exam room... lastly, she didn’t share his vitals with us before leaving but just closed her laptop and said the nurse would be in... i said thank you very clearly but she didn’t even acknowledge my gratitude... as noted, probably having a rough day as the clinic was busy but thought you should know

- Verified patient on 3/15

I waited just shy of 2 hours for a rapid Covid test…when you don’t feel good that’s a long time. At 9:21 I spoke with someone inside and informed them that I was in spot 18, she replied that someone would be out to get my license and insurance. One hour later someone called to ask if I was there. Explained again I was in spot 18, she said she’d be right out. Many minutes more she came and got my license and insurance card., then returned them. I got a call about my symptoms and why I was there and then directed to go around the back of the building. Just shy of 2 hours I got my results and left. 2 hours is a long long wait. Otherwise your staff could not of been nicer or more accommodating. Maybe you can work on the check in procedures? Thank you for helping me.

- Verified patient on 9/28

I did not have my insurance card because I am waiting on a replacement. Lady at the desk refused to call the number provided to get my policy info! So I am sick making phone calls for 20 minutes when she could have literally done it in five, and no they were not busy! Also I knew I was going to need a Covid test and it says on line no appointment needed, however when I was finally seen they said I was going to have to make an appointment to get Covid test! Fortunately the dr felt as though I needed one and he went and got a test! Dr said I have a viral sinus infection and he prescribed cough syrup with codeine! Several people o know said when they went that’s what they were prescribed. Including my grown daughter, she didn’t even fill the script because she didn’t feel as though she needed it! The poor rating I gave for friendliness was the desk clerk! The Dr and his assistant were very nice they would have received five stars if it weren’t for the desk clerk! The information they have listed on line is not accurate so call first, the last thing you want when your sick is to have to sit around in a office and wait while you could be in your bed resting.

First time getting COVID tested. Experience was great, Amazing staff, they work as fast as they possibly can. Waiting time was about 4-5 hours because of the current time we are going through. I entered the front office to place myself on waitlist and inserted all my person information and insurance. My insurance covered the rapid COVID-19 test. (Blue Care Network). We waited in a car until we got a call to come in for the test. I was in and out in 10 min. Results approximately take 20-30 min. Doctor seen us from inside our car after testing. They have a pharmacy right next door where we picked up any medication if prescribed to you. (Amazing guy at the pharmacy too). Will recommend to arrive early, be patient and please be nice to all staff, I promise they are trying there best. They are human too! I appreciate every employee there! Keep doing what you are doing! Thank you very much! Best of luck!

The staff was friendly enough but had a crazy long wait. Hour wait in the waiting room and another hour waiting in the treatment room. Just to get a covid test for my son. I was hoping to just do a drive up test at Walgreens but wasn’t available this morning so instead we went to urgent care…. My mistake I guess.

We got covid tests, the doctor had to stick it up my nose 3 times and I ended up with a nosebleed, I don't get nosebleeds easily. When he put it up my girlfriends nose, she flinched, so he let go of the swab and let it sit in her nose for almost 10 seconds before she said "can you take it out??" So he took it out and then had to do it again. No reason for any of it. Made an uncomfortable experience much worse out of a lack of care. This isn't my first covid test, he didn't have to be so rough, and he didn't have to purposely do it multiple times.

My first time there. On-line appointment was very easy. The nurse was very kind and awesome. Doctor took his time and ordered X-ray just to be sure. Was a little pushy about a Covid test but I understand.

Dundee COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Dundee?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in Dundee?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your Dundee-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Dundee?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Dundee including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Dundee?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many Dundee-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Dundee?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Dundee are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 Dundee?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Dundee?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
