I came in one day without an appoint and waited two hours as a walk-in before I had to leave without being tested. I made an appointment through Quest Lab Testing for the next day, showed up on time, got tested easily and was on my way in 15-20 minutes. Staff is friendly and helpful.

I was in and out within 40 minutes. Nurse Practitioner Alex came in sat down and sincerely listened to what I was going through. We talked about several treatments of medication before he wrote out a prescription. He referred me on to a pulmonologist, which was greatly needed. He was very thorough. I am feeling so much better after two days. Oh, and this was the third visit for the same illness; however, I chose Pri-Med the third time. So thankful.

Getting Tested for STDs in Prattville, AL

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs, especially if they have multiple partners or do not regularly use protection. This includes both men and women, regardless of sexual orientation. According to the CDC, certain groups are at higher risk, including young people aged 15-24, men who have sex with men, and pregnant women. It's important to remember that many STDs do not show symptoms, so regular testing is key even if you feel healthy.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial for several reasons. Firstly, many STDs do not display symptoms, meaning you could be infected and unknowingly pass it on to others. Secondly, untreated STDs can lead to serious health complications, such as infertility, cancer, and increased risk of HIV. Testing is the only sure way to know if you have an STD, and early detection allows for more effective treatment.

According to the CDC, the most common STDs in the area are chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. Compared to nearby counties such as Webster and DeKalb, Elmore County has a higher rate of STDs. This could be due to various factors, including population density and access to healthcare services.
