Urgent care
The PA was kind and non alarming!  I didn’t feel that way with the previous visit 2 days before! She explained things carefully, so I understood what I was dealing with and prescribed the correct medication! The previous PA told me I would get a call with the results of my urine  test, but I never got that call and my antibiotics needed to be changed. I developed a fever and came in again! Not sure why I never got that call???

Both the doctor and the nurse I saw were great, I feel like I was very well taken care of and heard, they alleviated my concerns, informed me clearly, and gave me a clear plan of action. I wish that doctor could be my primary care physician actually. It was awesome!

My husband has pneumonia, so as soon as I started coughing, I made an appointment at the new Marque Urgent Care on Alicia Parkway.  It was so easy to start an account and get in quickly.  The place is beautiful and the staff was so friendly.  Check-in was fast.  The PA was so knowledgeable about my asthma and gave me meds to keep it from becoming worse.  I feel so much better after only 2 days. They contacted me by phone and text to make sure I was better.  Love this place!

Urgent Care in Fontana, CA

Fontana sits at the western edge of the Inland Empire's logistics economy — a 200,000-person city that has approved more than 70 warehouses since 2010, putting roughly 16,000 truck trips a day through its streets and pushing San Bernardino County's unhealthy air days from 15% of the calendar to 20% in a single year between 2019 and 2020.1 Fontana is also home to Kaiser Permanente's San Bernardino County flagship — a 314-bed teaching hospital with the Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine clinical training program — and its urgent care economy reflects both realities: diesel-driven respiratory loads and a dominant Kaiser HMO membership.2,3

What's driving urgent care demand in Fontana right now?

Warehouse logistics is the dominant story. According to a UC Riverside Center for Social Innovation analysis, 61% of Latino residents across the Inland Empire live within 300 feet of a warehouse,4 and Fontana is the geographic core of that exposure. The diesel particulate concentration drives elevated rates of asthma, COPD exacerbations, sinusitis, and pediatric reactive airway disease — all of which present at urgent care daily, especially during summer ozone peaks and winter PM2.5 inversions when San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains trap valley air. Urgent care clinics here are well-practiced at nebulizer treatments and short oral steroid courses.

What do Fontana urgent care clinics treat?

Beyond respiratory complaints, Fontana urgent cares handle the standard non-emergent mix: respiratory infections, UTIs, rashes, sprains, fractures, lacerations needing stitches, fever workups in adults and kids, and routine occupational screens for the city's enormous logistics workforce (Coca-Cola, Target, Smart & Final, and FedEx all run distribution centers in Fontana). If you need a DOT physical in Fontana, a sports physical in Fontana, drug screening, or a return-to-work clearance, walk-in urgent care is the fastest route.

When should you go to the ER instead?

Kaiser Permanente Fontana Medical Center operates a 24/7 emergency department at 9961 Sierra Avenue and serves as the Inland Empire's Kaiser flagship for cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, pediatric care, comprehensive cancer care, and trauma.2,3 Use the ED for chest pain, suspected stroke, severe shortness of breath, major trauma, deep bleeding, head injuries with loss of consciousness, or any condition you reasonably fear is life-threatening. For everything else, urgent care will see you faster and bill substantially less.

How does insurance and Medi-Cal work in Fontana?

Most Fontana urgent care clinics accept commercial PPO and HMO plans, Medicare, TRICARE, and California's Medicaid program — Medi-Cal. San Bernardino County Medi-Cal members are typically enrolled with one of two managed care plans: Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) or Molina Healthcare of California. Kaiser Permanente Fontana serves Kaiser Medi-Cal members exclusively — you must be enrolled in Kaiser to use its urgent care or ED. If you're uninsured, most clinics offer cash-pay rates and Kaiser Fontana provides financial assistance through Kaiser's regional charity care program.

What's the Kaiser Permanente Fontana ecosystem?

Kaiser Permanente Fontana Medical Center is the anchor of Kaiser's San Bernardino County region, which spans the Fontana + Ontario campuses and 15 medical offices serving more than 685,000 members.2 The Kaiser network includes urgent care directly at the Fontana hospital plus extended walk-in capacity at medical offices throughout the city. Non-Kaiser members can use independent urgent care providers including Concentra, MedPost, and AFC Urgent Care, all of which take commercial insurance and Medi-Cal across IEHP and Molina.

Urgent Care FAQs

  • How does the Fontana warehouse boom affect my health and urgent care use?

Fontana has approved more than 70 warehouses since 2010, generating about 16,000 truck trips per day. According to environmental research cited by CalMatters and UC Riverside, the resulting diesel particulate pollution has pushed San Bernardino County unhealthy air days from 15% to 20% of the calendar in a single year (2019 to 2020) and elevated cancer risk to the 95th percentile near warehouse gigaclusters. Urgent care clinics in Fontana see steady volume for asthma flares, bronchitis, sinusitis, and pediatric reactive airway disease tied to that exposure.
  • Does Fontana urgent care accept Medi-Cal?

Yes. Most Fontana urgent care clinics accept Medi-Cal through San Bernardino County's two managed care plans, Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) and Molina Healthcare of California. Kaiser Permanente Fontana serves Kaiser Medi-Cal members only. Confirm your specific managed care plan with the clinic before booking.
  • How long does an ER visit typically take at Kaiser Permanente Fontana?

Kaiser Permanente Fontana Medical Center operates a high-volume 24/7 emergency department serving the Inland Empire's busiest Kaiser region. Non-emergent patients often wait 2 to 4 hours behind cardiac, stroke, and trauma activations. For non-life-threatening complaints, urgent care typically completes a visit in 30 to 60 minutes.
  • When should I go to the ER instead of urgent care in Fontana?

Go to Kaiser Permanente Fontana Medical Center or another nearby ED for chest pain, suspected stroke (facial droop, arm weakness, speech changes), severe shortness of breath, major trauma, deep wounds with heavy bleeding, head injuries with loss of consciousness, suspected fractures with deformity, or any condition you reasonably believe is life-threatening.
  • What insurance do Fontana urgent care clinics accept?

Most Fontana urgent cares accept commercial PPO and HMO plans, Medicare, TRICARE, and Medi-Cal via IEHP or Molina. Kaiser Permanente Fontana serves Kaiser members exclusively. Independent urgent care providers like Concentra, MedPost, and AFC Urgent Care broaden network options for non-Kaiser members and offer cash-pay rates for the uninsured.
  • Are Fontana urgent care clinics open on weekends and evenings?

Most Fontana urgent care clinics keep extended weekday hours and stay open Saturday and Sunday, typically closing in the evening rather than running 24/7. Kaiser Permanente Fontana Medical Center's ED is open 24/7 for emergencies; for non-emergent overnight care, Solv shows which Fontana clinics have the latest closing time and earliest morning openings.
  • Can I get a DOT physical for warehouse and trucking work at Fontana urgent care?

Yes. Several Fontana urgent cares — including Concentra and dedicated occupational health centers — offer DOT physicals, drug screening, post-employment-offer exams, return-to-work clearances, and workers' compensation visits for the city's substantial warehouse and trucking workforce. Most also handle pre-employment screening for the major distribution centers.
