Urgent care
Both the doctor and the nurse I saw were great, I feel like I was very well taken care of and heard, they alleviated my concerns, informed me clearly, and gave me a clear plan of action. I wish that doctor could be my primary care physician actually. It was awesome!

Urgent care
I had a cold that wasn't getting any better. So I looked up Urgent Care centers in my medical app and up pops Carbon Health. Living right in the area was so convenient. I made an online appointment instead of walking in. And everything was perfect! I was taken care of, received prescriptions to pickup. They are so caring and professional there. I recommend to go to Carbon Health at Eastvale Merge. Should I ever need the service again, this is my place of choice. Thanks Carbon Health! I feel so much better today!

Urgent Care in Moreno Valley, CA

Moreno Valley anchors the eastern Inland Empire and hosts two facilities that define its healthcare identity: Riverside University Health System (RUHS) Medical Center — a 439-bed Level I Adult Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center located at 26520 Cactus Avenue, with an 84% Medi-Cal payor mix — and March Air Reserve Base, the largest concentration of TRICARE-enrolled military families in the Inland Empire.1,2 That combination — IE's only safety-net Level I trauma hospital plus a reserve-base TRICARE population — shapes everything from where families seek pediatric urgent care to how local clinics structure insurance contracts.

What makes Moreno Valley healthcare different from Riverside?

Most outsiders assume RUHS sits in Riverside city — it does not. The hospital is physically located in Moreno Valley, which means Moreno Valley is the host city for Riverside County's only Level I Adult Trauma Center and the UCR School of Medicine's primary teaching campus.1 Approximately 84% of RUHS Medical Center's payor mix is Medi-Cal, compared with 7% Medicare and just 2% private payor1 — that concentration makes RUHS the de facto safety net for a county where the Inland Empire's well-documented physician shortage is sharpest. Urgent care in Moreno Valley therefore functions as the front door to a hospital that runs hot, especially in the evening hours.

When should you choose urgent care instead of the ER?

Use urgent care for non-life-threatening complaints — respiratory illness, UTIs, fevers, rashes, sprains, fractures without obvious deformity, lacerations needing stitches, and minor injuries. Save the RUHS or Kaiser Moreno Valley emergency department for chest pain, suspected stroke, severe difficulty breathing, major trauma, deep bleeding, head injuries with loss of consciousness, or anything you reasonably fear is life-threatening. Because RUHS is a Level I trauma center, its ED is busy with critical patients — non-emergent walk-ins routinely wait several hours behind trauma activations.

What do Moreno Valley urgent care clinics treat?

Moreno Valley urgent cares treat the standard mix — respiratory infections, ear infections, sore throats, UTIs, sprains, simple fractures, lacerations, rashes, allergic reactions, and routine school and work physicals — plus military-adjacent care for March ARB families (TRICARE-accepted clinics, deployment-readiness exams, dependent immunizations). If you need a DOT physical in Moreno Valley, a sports physical in Moreno Valley, or same-day STI testing, walk-in urgent care is usually fastest.

How does insurance and Medi-Cal work in Moreno Valley?

Most Moreno Valley urgent cares accept commercial PPO and HMO plans, Medicare, TRICARE, and Medi-Cal under Riverside County's dual-plan managed care model — Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) and Molina Healthcare of California. TRICARE West (managed by TriWest Healthcare Alliance) covers March ARB active and reserve members, retirees, and their dependents — and many local urgent cares are TRICARE network providers because of the base's proximity. Kaiser Permanente Moreno Valley serves Kaiser members exclusively.

What's the role of March Air Reserve Base in local healthcare?

March Air Reserve Base sits immediately south of Moreno Valley city limits, and according to base housing guidance Moreno Valley is the most common residential city for military families assigned to March — typically a 5- to 15-minute commute.3 The nearest emergency care for the base is RUHS Medical Center, roughly 10 minutes north.3 That proximity means local urgent care clinics see a steady TRICARE-covered patient mix: dependent immunizations, sports physicals for military kids, deployment-readiness exams, and routine acute care that doesn't justify a trip to a military treatment facility farther afield.

Urgent Care FAQs

  • Is RUHS Medical Center in Riverside or Moreno Valley?

RUHS Medical Center is physically located in Moreno Valley at 26520 Cactus Avenue, not in Riverside city. That makes Moreno Valley the host city for Riverside County's only Level I Adult Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, as well as the UCR School of Medicine's primary clinical training campus.
  • Does Moreno Valley urgent care accept Medi-Cal?

Yes. Most Moreno Valley urgent cares accept Medi-Cal through Riverside County's dual-plan managed care model — Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) and Molina Healthcare of California. Kaiser Permanente Moreno Valley serves Kaiser Medi-Cal members exclusively. Confirm your specific plan with the clinic before booking.
  • Does Moreno Valley urgent care accept TRICARE for March ARB military families?

Many Moreno Valley urgent cares accept TRICARE West (administered by TriWest Healthcare Alliance) because of March Air Reserve Base's proximity — most military families live a 5 to 15 minute commute from the base in Moreno Valley itself. Call ahead or check Solv's insurance filter to confirm a clinic is in-network for your TRICARE plan.
  • How long do non-emergent patients typically wait at the RUHS Medical Center ER?

Because RUHS is a Level I Adult Trauma Center serving as the IE's primary safety-net hospital, its ED runs hot and non-emergent walk-ins routinely wait several hours behind trauma activations. Urgent care visits booked on Solv typically complete in 30 to 60 minutes, making them far faster for any non-life-threatening complaint.
  • When should I go to the ER instead of urgent care in Moreno Valley?

Go to RUHS Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente Moreno Valley, or another ED for chest pain, suspected stroke (facial droop, arm weakness, speech changes), severe difficulty breathing, major trauma, deep wounds with heavy bleeding, head injuries with loss of consciousness, or any condition you reasonably fear is life-threatening.
  • What insurance plans do Moreno Valley urgent care clinics accept?

Most Moreno Valley urgent cares accept commercial PPO and HMO plans, Medicare, TRICARE West, and Medi-Cal under IEHP or Molina. Kaiser Permanente Moreno Valley serves Kaiser members exclusively. Most clinics also offer cash-pay rates for uninsured patients.
  • Are Moreno Valley urgent care clinics open on weekends?

Most Moreno Valley urgent care clinics stay open Saturday and Sunday with extended evening weekday hours, typically closing late evening rather than running 24/7. For overnight non-emergent care, RUHS Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente Moreno Valley operate 24/7 EDs, though ED bills will be substantially higher than urgent care for the same complaint.
