Urgent care
I had a cold that wasn't getting any better. So I looked up Urgent Care centers in my medical app and up pops Carbon Health. Living right in the area was so convenient. I made an online appointment instead of walking in. And everything was perfect! I was taken care of, received prescriptions to pickup. They are so caring and professional there. I recommend to go to Carbon Health at Eastvale Merge. Should I ever need the service again, this is my place of choice. Thanks Carbon Health! I feel so much better today!

Urgent care
Both the doctor and the nurse I saw were great, I feel like I was very well taken care of and heard, they alleviated my concerns, informed me clearly, and gave me a clear plan of action. I wish that doctor could be my primary care physician actually. It was awesome!

Urgent care
The PA was kind and non alarming!  I didn’t feel that way with the previous visit 2 days before! She explained things carefully, so I understood what I was dealing with and prescribed the correct medication! The previous PA told me I would get a call with the results of my urine  test, but I never got that call and my antibiotics needed to be changed. I developed a fever and came in again! Not sure why I never got that call???

My husband has pneumonia, so as soon as I started coughing, I made an appointment at the new Marque Urgent Care on Alicia Parkway.  It was so easy to start an account and get in quickly.  The place is beautiful and the staff was so friendly.  Check-in was fast.  The PA was so knowledgeable about my asthma and gave me meds to keep it from becoming worse.  I feel so much better after only 2 days. They contacted me by phone and text to make sure I was better.  Love this place!

Urgent Care in Riverside, CA

Riverside is the largest city in California's Inland Empire, and its healthcare landscape is shaped by a documented physician shortage. According to CalMatters, the Inland Empire has 42 primary care physicians per 100,000 residents compared with 60 statewide, and 83 specialists per 100,000 versus 131 statewide. That gap pushes routine illness and minor injury care toward urgent care clinics, where wait times are typically shorter than at hospital emergency departments. UC Riverside School of Medicine and Riverside University Health System (RUHS) are working to close the physician gap with new training capacity and a teaching hospital announced in June 2025, but the structural shortage means walk-in care will remain a meaningful entry point for years.

Why does urgent care matter so much in Riverside?

About 42% of Riverside County residents report inadequate healthcare access, per CalMatters reporting tied to the June 2025 announcement of a new UC Riverside teaching hospital. UC Riverside School of Medicine, which opened in 2013, has historically been the only University of California medical school without its own teaching hospital — that changes with the new project, but in the meantime urgent care fills a real primary-care gap. Walk-in clinics handle the same conditions a primary-care office would: respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, sprains, lacerations needing stitches, ear infections, and minor burns.

When should you choose urgent care over the emergency room?

Urgent care is the right choice for non-life-threatening conditions you would normally see a doctor for if you could get an appointment. Use urgent care for fevers, sore throats, ear infections, simple fractures, sprains, urinary tract infections, mild asthma flare-ups, eye irritation, rashes, and lacerations that need stitches but are not bleeding heavily. Go to a Riverside-area emergency room — including Riverside Community Hospital (HCA), RUHS Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente Riverside Medical Center, or Parkview Community Hospital — for chest pain, difficulty breathing, signs of stroke, severe abdominal pain, head injuries with loss of consciousness, uncontrolled bleeding, or any condition that feels like an emergency. RUHS Medical Center alone receives roughly 100,000 ED visits per year, so urgent care diversion meaningfully reduces wait times for true emergencies.

Which urgent care clinics serve Riverside?

Riverside has a deep mix of independent, hospital-affiliated, and national-chain urgent care providers. Riverside Medical Clinic operates a long-standing urgent care location open seven days a week. Kaiser Permanente Riverside Medical Center includes urgent care for Kaiser members. AFC Urgent Care Riverside is open evenings and weekends and accepts most commercial insurance plans. Riverside University Health System (RUHS) operates Express Care walk-in services through its Community Health Center network, including locations in Riverside Neighborhood, Moreno Valley, Corona, Banning, Lake Elsinore, and Palm Springs — these centers operate on sliding-fee scales for uninsured patients. For after-hours pediatric care, Riverside Community Hospital and RUHS both have ED capabilities, but most pediatric walk-in needs are handled at the urgent care chains.

What conditions and services do Riverside urgent care clinics handle?

Most Riverside urgent care clinics handle the same range of services you would expect from a primary care office, plus on-site labs, digital X-ray, and minor procedures. Common visit reasons include strep throat and respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, ear infections, allergic reactions, sprains and simple fractures, lacerations needing stitches, eye irritation and pink eye, mild asthma exacerbations, dehydration with IV fluids, COVID-19 and flu testing, and routine wound care. Clinics with X-ray on site (most major chains do) can confirm fractures and start splinting before referring orthopedic follow-up. Riverside's hot inland summers — daily highs above 95°F from June through September — drive a seasonal spike in heat-related visits including heat exhaustion, dehydration, and minor heat rash, particularly in outdoor workers and youth athletes. The South Coast Air Quality Management District has consistently ranked the Inland Empire among the worst regions in the U.S. for ozone pollution, which contributes to year-round volume in asthma and reactive airway visits. DOT physicals, sports physicals, school physicals, and travel vaccinations are also commonly available — useful given Riverside's large student and warehouse-distribution workforce.

Does urgent care in Riverside accept Medi-Cal?

Most urgent care clinics in Riverside accept Medi-Cal, but coverage depends on which managed-care plan you are enrolled in. Riverside County's two Medi-Cal managed care plans are Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) and Molina Healthcare. RUHS Express Care and the broader RUHS Community Health Center network accept all Medi-Cal members regardless of plan and operate sliding-fee scales for uninsured patients. Most national chains — including AFC Urgent Care and Concentra — accept IEHP and Molina, though it is worth confirming when you book. Kaiser Permanente urgent care is restricted to Kaiser members. If you are uninsured, ask about cash-pay rates upfront; they typically run $125 to $250 for a basic visit, with extras for labs, X-rays, or procedures.

What are urgent care hours and wait times in Riverside?

Most Riverside urgent care clinics are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and have shorter weekend hours, typically 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. AFC Urgent Care Riverside, Riverside Medical Clinic Urgent Care, and several Concentra and Exer Urgent Care locations stay open into the evening seven days a week. True 24-hour walk-in care in Riverside is generally only available at hospital emergency departments. Average urgent care wait times typically fall between 15 and 45 minutes, though Sunday afternoons and Monday mornings tend to be the busiest. Booking online through Solv lets you see live wait times and reserve a slot before you arrive.

UC Riverside School of Medicine (opened 2013) is expanding training capacity and announced a new teaching hospital in June 2025, but in the meantime urgent care clinics fill the gap for routine acute care that primary care can't always absorb.
