About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

Hepatitis is a viral infection that affects the liver. It's important to get tested if you fall into certain high-risk categories. According to the CDC, these include individuals who have been exposed to blood or body fluids of an infected person, have had unprotected sex with someone who has hepatitis, have shared needles or other drug paraphernalia, or have traveled to countries with high hepatitis prevalence. Those born between 1945 and 1965, also known as baby boomers, are also recommended to get tested due to a higher incidence of hepatitis C in this age group.

Importance of getting tested

Early detection of hepatitis is crucial as it can prevent serious complications such as liver cirrhosis, liver cancer, and liver failure. Furthermore, it can help prevent the spread of the virus to others. According to the CDC, many people with hepatitis do not experience symptoms until the disease has progressed, making regular testing essential for those at risk.
