Urgent care
Came in with a possible fracture in my foot and was wanting to get an x-ray. Granted, I should’ve realized that they closed in 30 minutes and came sooner. However, the lady at the front desk was SO RUDE. she repeatedly told me that they close soon so they will not have time for an x ray and i should’ve came sooner. then tried to say it would take 4 hours to get the results back so there’s no point. I begged that they please at least just look at it to see what’s wrong and so the front desk lady asked the nurse “do YOU want to stay longer just for an x-ray??”. the nurse did not want to but the Dr came in and said she would do it. So the front desk lady huffed and puffed as she got my paperwork. then as i’m rushing to fill out all of this paperwork (on my phone AND on paper), the front desk lady repeatedly told me to hurry and that i need to get that done immediately. then when i brought her my papers, she told me to hurry back there. as i limped back to my seat to grab my shoe (i had taken it off to show them my foot), the front desk lady literally yells at me to hurry up! that i need to hurry! and i told her “can i not grab my shoe????”. the results from the x-ray ended up coming back in less than 10 minutes. go figure. all in all, the Dr and nurse that took my vitals were extremely nice and helpful. but that front desk lady is the rudest person i have ever met. and i have seen numerous reviews on Google and Yelp about the front desk lady. obviously her attitude and general dis concern for patients is a universal experience.

I recently visited Bellaire ER and they were excellent all around. Miss Ana in the front desk was very nice and helpful. And Dr. Quintanilla was very professional and gave me the upmost care! I would definitely recommend and use Bellaire ER again!

Urgent care in Stephenville, TX

Stephenville is the Erath County seat about 70 miles southwest of Fort Worth, home to Tarleton State University and known as the "Cowboy Capital" and dairy capital of Texas, with urgent care needs largely served by Texas Health Harris Methodist Stephenville and local clinics. Book a same-day visit locally or in urgent care in Dallas in under a minute.

What services do urgent care clinics in Stephenville offer?

Stephenville urgent care clinics and the hospital-affiliated walk-in at Texas Health Harris Methodist Stephenville handle the standard load — flu, strep, UTIs, sprains, lacerations, ear infections, sports physicals (heavy demand from Tarleton State athletics and local high schools), and on-site labs and X-ray.2 Patients route to Fort Worth via US-377 or Waco via SH-281 for specialty care.

Does urgent care in Stephenville accept STAR (Texas Medicaid)?

Most urgent care clinics serving the Stephenville area accept STAR, the Texas Medicaid managed care program administered by Texas Health and Human Services.1 Because Texas hasn't expanded Medicaid, eligibility is largely limited to children, pregnant women, and very low-income families — KFF tracks Texas as the state with the highest uninsured rate in the U.S.3 In a smaller market like Stephenville, plan options can be more limited, so call ahead to confirm STAR MCO acceptance.

How does Stephenville urgent care relate to Dallas?

Stephenville has roughly 20,500 residents and serves as the seat of Erath County, anchored by Tarleton State University (part of the Texas A&M System) and a major dairy and agricultural economy.4 The university student population significantly shapes urgent care demand for sports physicals, illness clusters, and acute injury care. Patients route northeast into urgent care in Dallas/Fort Worth for higher-acuity referrals.

Urgent Care FAQs

  • Are there urgent care clinics in Stephenville?

Yes. Stephenville, TX has walk-in urgent care available either directly in town or within a short drive in adjacent communities. Most clinics offer same-day visits for common illnesses and minor injuries, with on-site labs and X-ray where needed. Use Solv to see real-time availability and book a slot before you walk in.
  • Does urgent care in Stephenville accept STAR (Texas Medicaid)?

Most urgent care clinics serving the Stephenville area accept STAR, the Texas Medicaid managed care program administered by Texas Health and Human Services. STAR is delivered through several managed care organizations (Amerigroup, Molina, Superior, United, etc.), so confirm with the specific clinic which MCOs they contract with before booking. Texas has not expanded Medicaid under the ACA, so working-age adults outside the standard STAR eligibility criteria typically do not qualify.
  • What insurance do urgent care centers in Stephenville accept?

Most Stephenville-area urgent care clinics accept commercial insurance plans (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Humana), Medicare, and TRICARE for active-duty military and veterans. Many also accept STAR (Texas Medicaid). Cash-pay and self-pay options are widely available — average urgent care visit costs run $100-$250 depending on services. Confirm your specific plan and copay with the clinic before booking.
  • Should I go to urgent care or the ER in Stephenville?

Urgent care handles non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries — flu, strep, UTIs, sprains, lacerations needing stitches, minor burns, ear infections, mild asthma flares — usually for a fraction of an ER bill and with shorter waits. Go to the ER (or call 911) for chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe trauma, difficulty breathing, severe abdominal pain, head injury with confusion, or any condition that feels life-threatening. The nearest hospital ER for Stephenville residents is Texas Health Harris Methodist Stephenville.
  • Do Stephenville urgent care clinics handle Tarleton State sports physicals?

Yes. Stephenville has heavy demand for sports physicals tied to Tarleton State University athletics and local high school programs, and most urgent care clinics offer school and sports physical visits at competitive cash-pay rates. Book ahead during August and pre-season windows when demand spikes.
