They do a very good job at this clinic.  It’s usually very short way to get in. The one thing I wish they would change is to add a handicap accessible entryway with an automatic door as it is difficult to open the door and push my daughter’s wheelchair through. Thank you.

Scheduling the appointment was easy. Wait time was not long. Staff was super friendly. Everyone was understanding and got meds ordered from the nearby pharmacy immediately. I have been to this location before and I always have a positive experience.

This is a great place to walk into when you are feeling awful! The medical team was understanding, kind, professional and knew what they were doing. I walked out knowing what was wrong with me and my medications were ready at the pharmacy as soon as I arrived. This was the smoothest, least stressful urgent care appointment I have experienced. I’m also from out of state. The woman at the front desk processed my insurance immediately. Most importantly, the medical assistant was very thorough and so nice and the doctor was very knowledgeable and calming. All in all a great experience when you’re feeling horrible! If I lived here, I would even consider having them as my regular ‘go to’ physician!

Urgent care in Staples, TX

Staples is a tiny rural community in southern Guadalupe County along the San Marcos River, with urgent care needs served by clinics in Seguin, San Marcos, and New Braunfels. Book a same-day visit nearby or in urgent care in San Antonio in under a minute.

What services do urgent care clinics in Staples offer?

Urgent care for Staples residents typically comes from clinics in Seguin, New Braunfels, and San Marcos — handling flu, strep, UTIs, sprains, lacerations, ear infections, sports physicals, and on-site labs and X-ray.2 Guadalupe Regional Medical Center in Seguin and Resolute Health Hospital in New Braunfels serve as the closest full-service hospitals, with CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital New Braunfels and affiliated walk-in clinics nearby.

Does urgent care in Staples accept STAR (Texas Medicaid)?

Most urgent care clinics serving the Staples area accept STAR, the Texas Medicaid managed care program administered by Texas Health and Human Services.1 Because Texas hasn't expanded Medicaid, eligibility is largely limited to children, pregnant women, and very low-income families — KFF tracks Texas as the state with the highest uninsured rate in the U.S.3 Confirm STAR MCO acceptance with the specific clinic before booking.

How does Staples urgent care relate to San Antonio?

Staples is a very small unincorporated community of roughly 300 residents in rural southern Guadalupe County along the San Marcos River, with a workforce tied to ranching, agriculture, and commuting into Seguin and New Braunfels.4 For meaningful urgent care, residents typically drive to Seguin, New Braunfels, or San Marcos, and route to urgent care in San Antonio for higher-acuity care.

Urgent Care Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are there urgent care clinics in Staples?

Yes. Staples, TX has walk-in urgent care available either directly in town or within a short drive in adjacent communities. Most clinics offer same-day visits for common illnesses and minor injuries, with on-site labs and X-ray where needed. Use Solv to see real-time availability and book a slot before you walk in.
  • Does urgent care in Staples accept STAR (Texas Medicaid)?

Most urgent care clinics serving the Staples area accept STAR, the Texas Medicaid managed care program administered by Texas Health and Human Services. STAR is delivered through several managed care organizations (Amerigroup, Molina, Superior, United, etc.), so confirm with the specific clinic which MCOs they contract with before booking. Texas has not expanded Medicaid under the ACA, so working-age adults outside the standard STAR eligibility criteria typically do not qualify.
  • What insurance do urgent care centers in Staples accept?

Most Staples-area urgent care clinics accept commercial insurance plans (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Humana), Medicare, and TRICARE for active-duty military and veterans. Many also accept STAR (Texas Medicaid). Cash-pay and self-pay options are widely available — average urgent care visit costs run $100-$250 depending on services. Confirm your specific plan and copay with the clinic before booking.
  • Should I go to urgent care or the ER in Staples?

Urgent care handles non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries — flu, strep, UTIs, sprains, lacerations needing stitches, minor burns, ear infections, mild asthma flares — usually for a fraction of an ER bill and with shorter waits. Go to the ER (or call 911) for chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe trauma, difficulty breathing, severe abdominal pain, head injury with confusion, or any condition that feels life-threatening. The nearest hospital ER for Staples residents is Guadalupe Regional Medical Center.
  • How far is the nearest hospital from Staples?

The nearest full-service hospital ERs to Staples are Guadalupe Regional Medical Center in Seguin (about 10 miles west) and Resolute Health Hospital in New Braunfels (about 15 miles south). For non-life-threatening conditions, urgent care clinics in Seguin and New Braunfels are typically faster and significantly cheaper than the ER.
