This is my favorite place to go for easy in and out service. They fixed me up. Dr. Kirk and his cute red headed nurse were a delight! The wait time was over an hour, which was pretty painful. But once I got to the back, they made it all better!

Recent COVID-19 Testing Reviews (20)

All Staff, nurses, PA great, front desk, Very personable, professional. Had PCR covid test. Very gentle done by nurse. Thank U for the care, professionalism during this awful covid pandemic. We ate vaccinated, but frustrated that so many people refusing to get covid vaccine or weat masks. Getting covid Vax to protect others, children. I Would recommend this urgent care. Thank U to all staff for what they cont to do with covid to help others. Get vaccinated people! Is awful to see those with covid & especially children with covid. This is NOT political!!! Is about the right thing to do to protect UR family, children, community.

- Verified patient on 8/15

It was a very comfortable, friendly facility. Under the circumstance (I was there for rapid covid test) the care was phenomenal. Wait time was a bit long—but I totally understand it being Sunday and covid causing so many issues. I’m extremely pleased with my overall experience!

- Verified patient on 8/15

The nurse that asked about my symptoms was extremely pushy about my request to not get COVID tested. I had no reason to believe I had COVID and simply did not want to be tested. He went on for several minutes about how I could not accurately be treated without tests, even though the nurse practitioner told me what I had by looking at me. I felt very uncomfortable with how he handled the whole thing and he was very unprofessional with his care.

- Verified patient on 12/20

It was overwhelmingly busy as there was a line out the front door of mostly people waiting to be rapid tested for Covid. The woman working the front counter was overwhelmed and a bit frazzled with rude patients. It seemed that she could have used an extra set of hands to help her answer questions/scan ID cards and type in paperwork. I think that would remedy the situation. Otherwise it was a fabulous experience. This is my second time in and I plan to come back in the future. The nurse that saw me in the back and did my Covid test was patient, kind and wonderful.

- Verified patient on 1/4

The whole experience was amazing. I dread doctor’s visits - between the cost and typical subpar care, I go as a last resort. Today wasn’t any different; I was not looking forward to the visit. However, everything from start to finish was great. I scheduled the appointment online. The front desk manager, Robbi, was phenomenal. Check-in was a breeze. The wait wasn’t long at all. They may have been MAYBE 10-15 mins off from my appointment time. In their defense, I was advised to show up 10 mins early, but showed up right on time. The NP, Scott (Richard) Savage was awesome! He explained everything clearly and made me feel at ease. I’m sure I was rambling but he listened and addressed all of my concerns. Oh! Can’t forget the lady that took my nose swab for the COVID test - I can’t remember her name. But, she was great as well! Overall great experience. I won’t visit any other Urgent Care clinic!

- Verified patient on 10/11

I've had covid testing at other places and this was by far the quickest, organized time. They got me in and out like it should be.

- Verified patient on 3/9

Husband Covid test- positive.

- Verified patient on 1/8

I had to wait 3 hours to get an ear drop (I’m already on a steroid and antibiotic). It is understandable because of the sheer volume of patients. Nurse and Doctor were very approachable, fast and fantastic. My only complaint is that there were tons of patients coming in for covid tests, exposing everyone. After stepping in, they were instructed to go back to car and pull to the back of clinic to wait. I asked the receptionist if I could go to my car and be called when my turn came and she said if I wasn’t in the waiting room when my name was called, another name would be called (thus losing my spot). My suggestion is to 1) provide a phone number for covid check in to be done from vehicle and 2) allow other patients to wait in vehicle and be called when it is their turn to step into clinic.

- Verified patient on 1/3

Drive up COVID testing

- Verified patient on 6/26

The long wait was understandable with the covid crisis going on. The nurse, Sharnequa (spelling?) was very good with my 5 year-old and he didn’t even cry getting a covid test. The APRN had a good, compassionate bedside manner and did not seem rushed although the clinic was packed. One of the best local clinics I’ve been to.

- Verified patient on 8/6

I will start off by saying I have used this urgent care a few times and have been extremely happy with the care we have received. However, this one is a different story. I made an appointment due to high fevers, body aches, and chest discomfort of 5 days. The sweet LPN who took care of me listened to my concerns. She decided to swab me for the flu. As she was taking my swab to get tested the APN opened the door to our room. She was speaking to the LPN she said “did you get a PCR on her, this is probably COVID, not the flu”. I had explained to the APN that I had just tested negative for COVID two days ago, that I really did not think that’s what this was. She got a rapid COVID test which was negative. She then said she would send it off for PCR and that it would probably be positive and that’s what we were dealing with. I asked her for a chest X-ray. She stated “your lungs sound fine”. She offered to draw blood work, I agreed. She sent us on our way telling us it was most likely COVID and that we would get the results tomorrow. My husband left from the urgent care and brought me to the ED where I am admitted for double pneumonia and having a sepsis work up. I’m glad I advocated for myself and didn’t settle for a COVID diagnosis. If I would of waited too much longer I’m scared about how much worse it would of gotten. I think it’s always wise to listen to your patients and not jump to one conclusion so fast ( and yes I have been fully vaccinated for COVID as well). But I am thankful for the sweet LPN who seemed as she was concerned!

I came in for Covid testing. The process to enter and get seen was a good one.

Everyone was extremely friendly! The waiting room and exam room were very nice and clean. Wait time wasn’t bad at all. Most important the nurse and ARPN ( I think I have that title correct) we’re excellent! He listened to every word I was telling and made me feel like he was willing to do whatever to make me feel better. I was there not because I was so sick with cold symptoms but for COVID testing because I share a home with my pregnant daughter and her family and no one on my visit made me feel in anyway like me I was wasting their time and I appreciated that so much! Thank you!

I just left this urgent care after being sick for a good week. The staff took Exceptional care of me. But my LPN Whitney was absolutely the most amazing person and nurse I’ve ever encountered. She made sure I was comfortable and real just made me feel like she cared. Everyone knows with this COVID stuff going on going to hospital or urgent Care your kinda just ran thru like cattle at an auction. But not here so if you don’t feel well or need a COVID test go let Whitney LPNand michelle NP take care of you

The experience went GREAT on the covid testing portion. The nurse that did the test was gentle and when I was swabbed it was bad but wasnt at the same time. She shoved it all the way but it wasnt aggressively and I only got teary eyed. It was so pleasant that I'd be more then happy to test again if I had to. The lady that calls you back after you call in to checkin on he appt, could have had better customer service skills but other then that id give this clinic for testing a 4.5 out of 5 stars!

Maumelle COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Maumelle?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in Maumelle?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your Maumelle-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Maumelle?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Maumelle including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Maumelle?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many Maumelle-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Maumelle?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Maumelle are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 Maumelle?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Maumelle?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
