Urgent care
Scheduling was easy peasy, and over the past week I had to cancel five times due to no ride and they still took me today. The check-in I did online but when I got there they took me right in. The staff is amazing good people skills bedside manner as well as they're so sweet. And my level of care was a 10!

Urgent care
Dr. Kenneth Farrell saw my for a lingering cough. He said he was prescribing a steroid for the cough, and when I asked if I could have cough medicine he said he would give promethazine. When I went to pick up my prescription, there was no steroid. Also, his bedside manner was off-putting.

Exceptional Medical Care by Armando and the American Family Care Urgent Care Team I am writing this review with great pleasure to express my heartfelt appreciation to the team at American Family Care Urgent Care, and especially to Armando, for the outstanding medical care they provided to my mother during her visit to the urgent care unit. Armando demonstrated an exceptional level of professionalism and empathy throughout the process. His skill in using the EKG machine and drawing blood was notable, performing both procedures with such precision and care that my mother felt entirely at ease and secure throughout the process. His ability to communicate clearly and explain each step of the procedure, his patience, and his dedication to my mother's comfort were truly impressive. In addition, I'd like to highlight the overall care we received at the urgent care unit. The team was efficient, compassionate, and highly professional. We felt supported and cared for throughout our stay, which is testament to the culture of excellence they have cultivated at the clinic. I wish to thank Armando and the entire team at American Family Care Urgent Care for their commitment to high-quality healthcare and for their dedication to patients' comfort and wellbeing. It's rare to find a team so dedicated and passionate about their work. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone seeking quality urgent care. Thank you, Armando, and thank you to the American Family Care Urgent Care team for making a difference in my mother's life!

Urgent Care in Arvada, CO

Arvada is a thriving Jefferson County city of roughly 120,000 residents situated just northwest of Denver, anchored by the revitalized Olde Town Arvada district, the Gold Strike light rail corridor, and residential neighborhoods stretching to the Rocky Mountain foothills. At an elevation of approximately 5,360 feet — nearly identical to Denver — Arvada residents and visitors experience the genuine health effects of Colorado's altitude, including altitude acclimatization for newcomers and the cardiovascular considerations that come with active outdoor recreation at elevation. UCHealth and SCL Health (now Intermountain Health) are the dominant health systems serving Arvada, with urgent care centers along Wadsworth Boulevard, Kipling Street, and Ralston Road offering convenient same-day care throughout the city.

When should you use urgent care instead of the ER in Arvada?

Arvada's nearest major emergency departments include UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora and Lutheran Medical Center (SCL Health/Intermountain) in nearby Wheat Ridge. For non-emergent conditions, urgent care delivers dramatically faster and more affordable care. According to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, inappropriate emergency department use is a significant statewide cost driver, and urgent care centers handle the majority of walk-in conditions equally well for a fraction of the cost.2 Use urgent care for flu, strep, sinus infections, UTIs, ear and eye infections, minor fractures, sprains from skiing and outdoor recreation, lacerations, and rashes. Use the ER or call 911 for chest pain, stroke symptoms, high-altitude pulmonary edema, severe trauma, or any life-threatening emergency.

What do urgent care clinics in Arvada treat?

Arvada's active outdoor culture — with easy access to hiking and biking trails in the Jefferson County Open Space system, whitewater at Clear Creek in nearby Golden, and the Rocky Mountain foothills — drives a meaningful proportion of sports and recreation injury visits to urgent care. Common presentations include ankle sprains, knee injuries, lacerations from trail falls, mountain biking crashes, and skiing/snowboarding injuries during the winter season. Respiratory infections, pediatric sick visits, and occupational health services round out the visit mix. Many Arvada urgent care centers offer DOT physicals for commercial drivers and sports physicals for students in Jeffco Public Schools, including Arvada High School and Ralston Valley High School.

Seasonal health in Arvada

Arvada's Front Range location gives it a dramatic four-season climate with significant health implications. Winter (November–March) brings skiing and snowboarding injury season as Arvada residents access Eldora, Loveland, Arapahoe Basin, and other Front Range ski areas within 1–2 hours. Knee ligament injuries, wrist fractures, shoulder dislocations, and head injuries are common ski injury presentations at Arvada urgent care centers. According to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Colorado sees among the highest rates of ski-related injuries nationally given the state's enormous skiing industry.2 Spring brings heavy snowfall and associated motor vehicle and slip-and-fall injuries. Summer and fall are the peak outdoor recreation seasons for hiking, biking, and running, generating trail injuries and heat-related illness. Altitude sickness affects newcomers and visitors unaccustomed to Colorado's elevation year-round.

Who lives in Arvada?

According to U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts for Arvada city, the population is approximately 120,000 residents.4 Arvada is predominantly white non-Hispanic (approximately 78%), with approximately 13% Hispanic or Latino and 3% Asian residents. The median household income is approximately $82,000 — above the Jefferson County median — reflecting Arvada's mix of established homeowners, young families in newer subdivisions, and the professional workforce commuting to Denver and the Tech Center. The median age is approximately 40. Health First Colorado enrollment is below the state average given Arvada's relatively high median income, but FQHC and community clinic access in Arvada's older west-side neighborhoods serves lower-income residents.

Does urgent care in Arvada accept Health First Colorado and other insurance?

Most urgent care clinics in Colorado accept Health First Colorado (the state's Medicaid program), along with major commercial plans such as Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Colorado, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, and TRICARE. According to the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, Health First Colorado covers more than 1.5 million Coloradans through managed care organizations and the fee-for-service program.3

According to KFF State Health Facts, Colorado's Medicaid expansion under the ACA significantly reduced the state's uninsured rate, which now ranks among the lower rates in the mountain west at approximately 8%.3 UCHealth, SCL Health/Intermountain, and independent urgent care operators throughout Arvada accept Health First Colorado managed care plans and all major commercial insurers. Confirm your specific plan when booking.
