I don't typically leave reviews, but this one is week earned. I recently had a COVID-19 test at the Care Spot in Altamonte Springs, Fl at 1 pm Wednesday, 9/30/20. Got results 10/2/20 at 8 am. Excellent turn around - less than 2 days! This was my first test at Care Spot, but third overall. The Care Spot experience was by far the best. Best turn around - others to 10 - 14 days. No waiting. Very clean facilities. Very nice staff. If I need another test, or any urgent care service, it's Care Spot for me!

Urgent Care in Orlando, FL

Orlando welcomed a record 76.7 million visitors in 2025—more than any other U.S. destination—and the May 22, 2025 opening of Universal's Epic Universe added a third full-scale theme park to an already extraordinary concentration of attractions.1 For the sprains, heat exhaustion, ear infections, and travel illnesses that accompany that visitor volume—plus the everyday health needs of nearly 320,000 residents—urgent care is almost always the right first stop before the emergency room.

When should you go to urgent care vs. the ER in Orlando?

Orlando's emergency rooms serve a combination of residents and visitors year-round, and both AdventHealth Orlando and Orlando Health operate major hospital campuses across Orange County. AdventHealth Orlando is a Level I trauma center with more than 1,300 beds; it also handles overflow from the theme park corridor. But for non-life-threatening conditions—cuts, sprains, minor fractures, fevers, ear and sinus infections, allergic reactions, pink eye, stomach illness, and dehydration—an urgent care clinic will typically see you faster and cost substantially less than an emergency room visit. Reserve the ER for chest pain, stroke symptoms, difficulty breathing, severe head trauma, heavy uncontrolled bleeding, or any condition where you believe your life is at immediate risk.

What do urgent care clinics in Orlando treat?

Orlando's walk-in clinics handle the full range of everyday illness and minor injury that affect both residents and visitors. AdventHealth Centra Care—the dominant urgent care network in Central Florida with more than 35 locations across the Orlando metro area—offers X-ray, lab work, and occupational health services at most sites.2 Orlando Health Urgent Care operates additional clinics throughout the city and suburbs. For theme park visitors, AdventHealth Centra Care Lake Buena Vista (adjacent to Walt Disney World Resort) and the Dr. Phillips location near Universal Orlando provide on-corridor access without requiring a full ER visit. Common visit reasons include minor injuries, sprains, and lacerations, upper respiratory infections, skin conditions and rashes, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal illness, STI testing, and routine lab work. For visitors in resort areas outside the city proper, urgent care in Kissimmee and Altamonte Springs offer additional options along the I-4 corridor.

What seasonal and environmental health risks should Orlando visitors and residents know about?

Florida's subtropical climate creates year-round health considerations that are especially relevant for out-of-state visitors unaccustomed to the conditions. Heat exhaustion and heat stroke are genuine risks during the summer months, when theme park visits can stretch 10 or more hours in 90°F-plus temperatures with high humidity. The Florida Department of Health monitors heat-related illness data across Orange County, and dehydration-related urgent care visits spike from June through September.3 Oak and grass pollen seasons run from late winter through spring, making allergy flares common from February through May; ragweed peaks in the fall. Water-related infections—swimmer's ear, "lake itch" (cercarial dermatitis), and skin rashes—occur throughout the warmer months given Central Florida's extensive network of lakes and water parks. Mosquito-borne illnesses including West Nile virus are monitored seasonally; travelers returning from international parks should also be aware of any pre-existing travel health advisories. In the event of severe weather or hurricane season (June–November), the Florida Division of Emergency Management recommends maintaining a first-aid kit and keeping urgent care clinic addresses readily accessible.

How does Florida Medicaid work in Orlando?

Florida has not expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act, leaving adults aged 19–64 who do not have children generally ineligible for coverage unless they have a qualifying disability or meet narrow income thresholds. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, more than 17% of Orange County adults under 65 lack health insurance—higher than the national average—and roughly one million Floridians fall into the coverage gap created by the state's decision not to expand.4 For those who do qualify, Florida Medicaid is administered by the Agency for Health Care Administration and delivered through the Statewide Medicaid Managed Care program. Most urgent care clinics in Orlando accept managed Medicaid plans including Sunshine Health, Humana Healthy Horizons, Molina Healthcare, and Staywell. Uninsured Orlando residents can access reduced-rate primary care through the Orange County Medical Clinic (income-based sliding-scale eligibility) and Federally Qualified Health Centers including community health centers throughout Orange County. For international visitors without U.S. insurance, most urgent care clinics accept credit card self-pay at rates substantially lower than an emergency room visit; many post flat-rate cash pricing for common visits.

Who lives and works in Orlando—and how does that shape healthcare access?

According to U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts, Orlando's city population is approximately 316,000 residents, though the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford metropolitan area encompasses 3.3 million people across five counties.5 The city is majority-minority: Hispanic or Latino residents make up approximately 33% of the population, and a significant Caribbean and Central American immigrant community is concentrated in the city's western and southern neighborhoods. A large share of Orlando's workforce is employed in hospitality, food service, retail, and theme park operations—industries with historically high rates of uninsured workers. Gig economy workers and part-time hospitality employees who lack employer-sponsored coverage frequently rely on urgent care as their primary point of care. For routine and acute needs, urgent care in Orlando listed on Solv includes current wait times, insurance acceptance information, and online check-in. Residents in surrounding communities can also find care at Winter Park, Ocoee, and Apopka walk-in clinics. For travel beyond Orange County, Solv also lists urgent care in Miami, Tampa, and Jacksonville.

Urgent Care FAQs

  • How long is the wait at urgent care clinics in Orlando?

Wait times at Orlando urgent care clinics vary by location and time of day. AdventHealth Centra Care and Orlando Health Urgent Care locations typically have estimated wait times posted online and on the Solv app. Weekday mid-morning visits (9 a.m.–noon) are generally faster than early evenings or weekends. Using Solv's online check-in can significantly reduce your in-clinic wait.
  • Does urgent care in Orlando accept Florida Medicaid?

Yes. Most urgent care clinics in Orlando accept Florida Medicaid managed care plans, including Sunshine Health, Humana Healthy Horizons, Molina Healthcare, and Staywell. Florida has not expanded Medicaid under the ACA, so adults without children or a qualifying disability may not be eligible. Call your specific clinic before visiting to confirm your plan is accepted.
  • What insurance does urgent care in Orlando accept?

Orlando urgent care clinics including AdventHealth Centra Care and Orlando Health Urgent Care accept most major commercial insurance plans including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and Humana, as well as Florida Medicaid managed care plans and Medicare. Uninsured and self-pay patients are welcome at most locations, which typically offer transparent cash-pay pricing.
  • Is there 24-hour urgent care in Orlando?

Most urgent care clinics in Orlando operate extended hours—typically 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. or 9 p.m. daily—but not all are open 24 hours. AdventHealth Orlando and Orlando Health operate 24-hour emergency departments for after-hours emergencies. For non-emergency needs outside regular urgent care hours, check Solv for current hours at clinics near you.
  • Can theme park visitors use urgent care in Orlando?

Yes. AdventHealth Centra Care Lake Buena Vista is located adjacent to Walt Disney World Resort, and the Dr. Phillips Centra Care location is near Universal Orlando. These clinics are open to visitors as well as residents and accept most insurance plans, including travel insurance. For conditions like sprains, minor lacerations, heat exhaustion, or ear infections, urgent care is faster and significantly less expensive than an emergency room.
  • How do I treat heat exhaustion at an urgent care clinic in Orlando?

Heat exhaustion—marked by heavy sweating, pale skin, weakness, nausea, and a weak rapid pulse—can be treated at an urgent care clinic in Orlando with IV fluids, cooling measures, and monitoring. Heat stroke (confusion, no sweating, temperature above 104°F) is a medical emergency and requires an ER. Orlando's summer heat and long theme park days make heat-related illness common; if you feel symptoms coming on, move to air conditioning, drink water, and seek urgent care promptly.
  • Does urgent care in Orlando treat international visitors without U.S. insurance?

Yes. Most Orlando urgent care clinics accept self-pay and credit card payment from international visitors. Many post flat-rate cash-pay pricing for common visits. Travel insurance policies from international carriers are accepted at many locations; bring your policy documentation. For serious conditions requiring hospitalization, contact your travel insurance emergency line for pre-authorization before or immediately after visiting an ER.
