After 3 days of not feeling well went to our nearest AFC UC and was greeted with friendly faces and helpful staff. Confirmed my illness with testing by Breyahana and meds sent to my pharmacy (although not a lot of explanation about meds by NP Perry - just advised to take them b/c of age related to diagnosis.) In/out in less than 35 minutes. Overall satisfied with our visit!

Saw urgent care pop up close to house and needed to take sick boy in. The front desk girl was very inviting. There was a very short wait time. The mobile forms were quick and convenient to fill out for a first-time patient. The nurse that did vitals and x-rays was very nice and even let my boy see his images. The PA, Breanna, was so wonderful!  I highly recommend going here!

I came in one day without an appoint and waited two hours as a walk-in before I had to leave without being tested. I made an appointment through Quest Lab Testing for the next day, showed up on time, got tested easily and was on my way in 15-20 minutes. Staff is friendly and helpful.

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

Hepatitis, a viral infection that causes liver inflammation, can affect anyone. However, certain groups are at higher risk and should consider getting tested. These include individuals who have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with hepatitis, those who have engaged in unprotected sex, people who have shared needles or other drug paraphernalia, and individuals who have received tattoos or piercings in unregulated settings. Additionally, people born between 1945 and 1965, often referred to as baby boomers, are five times more likely to have hepatitis C, according to the CDC.

Importance of getting tested

Hepatitis can be asymptomatic, meaning you could have the virus without experiencing any symptoms. This makes testing crucial for early detection and treatment, preventing further liver damage, and reducing the risk of transmission to others. Early diagnosis can lead to effective management of the disease, reducing the risk of severe complications such as liver cirrhosis or cancer.

Hepatitis testing options in Fort Mill, SC:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

In Fort Mill, SC, facilities like AFC Urgent Care, located at 10102 Johnston Rd, Charlotte, NC 28210, offer hepatitis testing services. You can book same-day and next-day testing appointments at these clinics through Solv’s website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Your primary care provider can also conduct hepatitis testing. They can provide a comprehensive assessment of your health, discuss your risk factors, and guide you on the appropriate tests to take.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers and free STD testing clinics also provide hepatitis testing. These facilities offer services regardless of your ability to pay, making them an accessible option for many individuals.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits are another option for individuals who prefer privacy or cannot access a testing facility. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and sent back to a lab for analysis.

Prevalence of hepatitis in Fort Mill

While specific data for Fort Mill, SC is not readily available, it's important to look at the broader picture. In nearby Mecklenburg County, hepatitis cases have been reported. Comparatively, the prevalence of hepatitis in this region is lower than the national average, according to the CDC. However, the actual number of cases may be higher due to underreporting and the asymptomatic nature of the disease.

Risk factors related to hepatitis in Fort Mill

Risk factors for hepatitis in Fort Mill are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include unprotected sex, sharing needles or other drug paraphernalia, close contact with a person diagnosed with hepatitis, and receiving tattoos or piercings in unregulated settings.

Other STDs in Fort Mill

In addition to hepatitis, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis are also present in Fort Mill and surrounding areas. These diseases often share similar risk factors with hepatitis, emphasizing the importance of regular testing and safe practices.
