Urgent care
The staff is very caring and compassionate. We need more clinics like family quick care. They are truly an asset to out community. Without them so many people would be in serious trouble. The are extremely reasonable priced. They don’t take Insurance so I’m never surprised by some doctor bill months down the road. They charge $100 to $120 it might be higher depending on the service you need. I have a choice to go anywhere but I always chose family quick care because the are caring compassionate and understanding. I never feel judged or embarrassed when I am seen. Their compassion and empathy is world class!

Urgent Care in Reno, NV

Reno calls itself the Biggest Little City, but its trauma footprint is anything but little. Renown Regional Medical Center is the only Level II trauma center between Sacramento and Salt Lake City, serving a 100,000-square-mile catchment that spans northern Nevada, Lake Tahoe, eastern California, and southern Oregon. When something serious happens in this corner of the West, Reno is where you go.

What makes urgent care in Reno different from the rest of Nevada?

Renown's catchment defines the regional dynamic. As the only Level II trauma center between Sacramento and Salt Lake City, Renown Regional treats more than 80,000 ER and trauma patients annually, draws from 17 counties and 29 referring rural hospitals, and serves a population of more than a million spread across the Great Basin. In June 2025, Renown and the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine formalized Nevada's first integrated academic health system — a structural shift that makes Reno a teaching-and-referral hub distinct from Las Vegas (tourism-dominant, Strip-driven volume) and Henderson (master-planned suburban St. Rose Dominican-anchored model). Renown Children's Hospital also holds Level II Pediatric Trauma verification, anchoring pediatric emergency referrals across northern Nevada.

When should you go to urgent care instead of the ER in Reno?

Urgent care fits most non-life-threatening situations: respiratory infections, UTIs, sprains, lacerations needing stitches, ski and snowboard injuries that don't involve loss of consciousness or suspected spinal trauma, altitude-related headaches, and most pediatric fevers. Send chest pain, stroke symptoms, head injuries with loss of consciousness, severe bleeding, pregnancy complications, suspected fractures with deformity, and major trauma to Renown Regional or Northern Nevada Sierra Medical Center. Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center also operates a 24-hour ED in central Reno.

Which urgent care brands operate in Reno?

Renown Urgent Care operates the largest network in the metro, with multiple Reno-Sparks locations and integration into the broader Renown system. Carbon Health, NextCare Urgent Care, AFC Urgent Care, and Concentra fill out the chain layer. Saint Mary's Urgent Care provides walk-in access tied to the Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center system. For ski-injury volume, Renown's Lakeside Drive locations and Carbon Health are the most-used by patients coming down from Incline Village and the Tahoe Basin. Patients in Sparks and Carson City also commonly book in Reno.

Does urgent care in Reno accept Nevada Medicaid?

Nevada Medicaid (known as the Battle Born State's Medicaid program) is accepted at most Reno chain urgent care brands. Nevada expanded Medicaid under the ACA in 2014, covering adults up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level through several managed-care plans. Statewide, Nevada has historically run higher uninsured rates than the national average — roughly 11 to 12 percent — and uninsured pressure on Reno walk-in clinics increases with summer tourism volume and Burning Man season (Black Rock Desert is about a 2.5-hour drive from Reno). Confirm Medicaid plan acceptance with the specific location before walking in.

What seasonal patterns drive urgent care visits in Reno?

Reno's mountain-desert climate creates three distinct surges. Winter brings ski and snowboard injuries — Mt. Rose, Heavenly, Northstar, Squaw, and Sugar Bowl all funnel injured visitors to Reno walk-in clinics and Renown's ED. Spring and summer add Lake Tahoe water-recreation injuries, altitude-sickness presentations from visitors arriving at 4,500 to 8,000 feet, and a steady stream of Burning Man-related dehydration, dust exposure, and minor injuries (the event runs late August into early September). Wildfire smoke from California regularly drives respiratory volume during fire season, and Tesla Gigafactory shift-injury occupational medicine traffic at Concentra and Renown Occupational Health runs year-round.

  • Does urgent care in Reno, NV accept Nevada Medicaid?

Yes. Nevada Medicaid (Battle Born State Medicaid) is accepted at most Reno chain urgent care brands. Nevada expanded Medicaid under the ACA in 2014, covering adults up to 138 percent FPL. Confirm specific managed-care plan participation with the location before walking in.
  • Where do skiers go for urgent care in Reno?

Renown Urgent Care and Carbon Health locations near Mt. Rose Highway and Lakeside Drive handle the majority of ski and snowboard injury volume from Mt. Rose, Heavenly, Northstar, Palisades Tahoe, and Sugar Bowl. For suspected fractures with deformity, loss of consciousness, or spinal trauma, go directly to Renown Regional Medical Center ED.
  • When should I go to urgent care instead of the ER in Reno?

Urgent care handles sprains, lacerations needing stitches, minor ski injuries, altitude headaches, respiratory infections, and most pediatric fevers. Go to Renown Regional, Northern Nevada Sierra, or Saint Mary's ER for chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe trauma, head injuries with loss of consciousness, or pregnancy complications.
  • Are there 24-hour urgent care clinics in Reno, NV?

Most Reno urgent care clinics close between 8 and 10 p.m. on weeknights. For 24-hour care, Renown Regional Medical Center (Level II trauma), Northern Nevada Sierra Medical Center, and Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center all operate continuous emergency departments.
  • Does Reno see urgent care surges during Burning Man?

Yes. Black Rock Desert is about a 2.5-hour drive from Reno, and Burning Man (late August through early September) drives a measurable surge in dehydration, dust-exposure respiratory, alkaline-dust skin reactions, and minor-injury walk-in volume at Reno clinics before, during, and after the event.
  • How does altitude affect urgent care visits in Reno?

Reno sits at 4,500 feet, and Lake Tahoe and Mt. Rose climb to 6,200 to 8,800 feet. Visitors from sea level commonly present with altitude headaches, dehydration, and shortness of breath in the first 24 to 48 hours. Urgent care can rule out serious causes and provide IV hydration; serious altitude sickness requires ED evaluation.
