Urgent care
Great urgent care! They accepted both my primary and secondary insurance. You can walk in or set up an appointment on line. Quickly tap in your arrival notice on the couple of screens provided. The wait was then minimal, the staff always meet you with a smile and the facility is beautiful. I saw a knowledgeable nurse practitioner who was very attentive and concerned with my leaving with all my needs addressed. When I had an issue that the pharmacy I requested was closed, I was able to quickly have them reroute the meds to one that was open. This will be my go-to location for urgent care when my PCP is not available.

I was pretty sure I had a UTI so was at Medella right after they opened on a Saturday morning. I was only the second patient and was in and out of there in less than an hour. I’ve used them before and the staff is always friendly and the office is run with great efficiency! I highly recommend them.

I had a allergic reaction and my top lip was really swollen. My experience was great, from check in to speaking with the nurse. I felt the nurse was a straight shooter as if I was talking to a friend. The lady who checked me in after I showed her my lips because I had my mask on, she was prepared once the nurse was done speaking with me. I really appreciate the both of them and I am doing better. Thank you again..

Urgent care in Shenandoah, TX

Shenandoah is a small Montgomery County city wedged between I-45 and The Woodlands, with urgent care needs served by Memorial Hermann, St. Luke's, and HCA-affiliated clinics along the Research Forest and I-45 corridor. Book a same-day visit nearby or in urgent care in Houston in under a minute.

What services do urgent care clinics in Shenandoah offer?

Shenandoah residents have access to urgent care along I-45 and Research Forest from Memorial Hermann The Woodlands, St. Luke's Health–The Woodlands, and HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe — handling flu, strep, UTIs, sprains, lacerations, ear infections, pediatric urgent care, sports physicals, and on-site labs and X-ray.2 The area has a dense concentration of freestanding ERs and walk-in clinics serving the broader Woodlands and Conroe market.

Does urgent care in Shenandoah accept STAR (Texas Medicaid)?

Most Shenandoah-area urgent care clinics accept STAR, the Texas Medicaid managed care program administered by Texas Health and Human Services.1 Texas has not expanded Medicaid under the ACA, so eligibility is largely limited to children, pregnant women, and very low-income families — KFF tracks Texas as the state with the highest uninsured rate in the country.3 The Woodlands corridor is a higher-income market with strong commercial insurance penetration, but STAR is broadly accepted at the major health system urgent care clinics.

How does Shenandoah urgent care relate to Houston?

Shenandoah has roughly 3,500 residents and sits along I-45 in southern Montgomery County, immediately adjacent to The Woodlands and roughly 30 miles north of downtown Houston.4 Patients route into the broader Memorial Hermann, St. Luke's, and Texas Medical Center networks via I-45 — escalate to urgent care in Houston for higher-acuity referrals.

Urgent Care FAQs

  • Are there urgent care clinics in Shenandoah?

Yes. Shenandoah, TX has walk-in urgent care available either directly in town or within a short drive in adjacent communities. Most clinics offer same-day visits for common illnesses and minor injuries, with on-site labs and X-ray where needed. Use Solv to see real-time availability and book a slot before you walk in.
  • Does urgent care in Shenandoah accept STAR (Texas Medicaid)?

Most urgent care clinics serving the Shenandoah area accept STAR, the Texas Medicaid managed care program administered by Texas Health and Human Services. STAR is delivered through several managed care organizations (Amerigroup, Molina, Superior, United, etc.), so confirm with the specific clinic which MCOs they contract with before booking. Texas has not expanded Medicaid under the ACA, so working-age adults outside the standard STAR eligibility criteria typically do not qualify.
  • What insurance do urgent care centers in Shenandoah accept?

Most Shenandoah-area urgent care clinics accept commercial insurance plans (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Humana), Medicare, and TRICARE for active-duty military and veterans. Many also accept STAR (Texas Medicaid). Cash-pay and self-pay options are widely available — average urgent care visit costs run $100-$250 depending on services. Confirm your specific plan and copay with the clinic before booking.
  • Should I go to urgent care or the ER in Shenandoah?

Urgent care handles non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries — flu, strep, UTIs, sprains, lacerations needing stitches, minor burns, ear infections, mild asthma flares — usually for a fraction of an ER bill and with shorter waits. Go to the ER (or call 911) for chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe trauma, difficulty breathing, severe abdominal pain, head injury with confusion, or any condition that feels life-threatening. The nearest hospital ER for Shenandoah residents is Memorial Hermann The Woodlands.
  • Are there freestanding ERs near Shenandoah?

Yes. The I-45 corridor through Shenandoah and The Woodlands has a high density of freestanding ERs from Memorial Hermann, HCA, and other operators. Freestanding ERs treat life-threatening emergencies but bill at hospital ER rates — for non-emergencies, urgent care is significantly cheaper and typically faster.
