Urgent care
Had pain in my left foot after a fall. Broke it. Very nice nurse, doctor and xray tech.. bathroom needed attention. No paper towels or hand sanitizer. Needed hand sanitizer and kleenex in waiting room. This will be my go-to non-ER facility. Lots better than Texas Med clinic.

Urgent care
Scheduling was easy, I did it the night before. When I arrived, I was 2nd in line according to their link, and there didn’t seem to be many people there. Still, it took over an hour to be taken back and nearly 2 hours when all was said and done. This is my Urgent Care clinic of choice, but I’ve never seen this doctor before and it’s never taken this long in the past. Still, I would continue to use this clinic. Staff were friendly and my prescription was sent to my pharmacy promptly.

Urgent care in Universal City, TX

Universal City is a northeast San Antonio suburb in Bexar County, bordered by Joint Base San Antonio–Randolph (JBSA-Randolph) — one of the largest military installations in the country. The city's population includes active-duty service members, military families, veterans, and civilians who work or live near the base. Walk-in urgent care clinics here accept TRICARE and most major commercial plans, providing a faster alternative to base medical facilities for non-emergency needs — with full metro access through urgent care in San Antonio.

What services do urgent care clinics in Universal City offer?

Urgent care clinics in Universal City treat respiratory infections, ear and sinus infections, UTIs, minor injuries, lacerations, sprains, and skin conditions. Several clinics in the area offer occupational health services relevant to military and civilian DoD employees, including pre-employment physicals and drug screenings. Baptist Health System operates a network of Express Med locations across the San Antonio metro, with clinics accessible from Universal City along Loop 1604.2

Does urgent care in Universal City accept STAR (Texas Medicaid)?

Yes. Clinics serving this area accept STAR, the Texas Medicaid managed care program administered by Texas Health and Human Services.1 Military families not covered by TRICARE may be eligible for STAR depending on income. Managed care organizations in Bexar County include Molina Healthcare, Community First Health Plans, and Aetna Better Health. Confirm your plan's network before visiting.3

How does Universal City's military character shape urgent care needs?

Universal City's population is approximately 20,162, per U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts, with a significant share tied to JBSA-Randolph through active duty, reserve, or DoD civilian employment.4 TRICARE is a dominant payer in this community, and clinics that accept it are especially useful for military families who prefer not to use the base clinic for routine matters. The JBSA-Randolph Medical Group handles military acute care on base, but civilian urgent care clinics offer shorter waits for dependents and retirees on TRICARE Prime or Select. For complex specialty needs, urgent care in San Antonio offers broader options.
