Urgent care
Had pain in my left foot after a fall. Broke it. Very nice nurse, doctor and xray tech.. bathroom needed attention. No paper towels or hand sanitizer. Needed hand sanitizer and kleenex in waiting room. This will be my go-to non-ER facility. Lots better than Texas Med clinic.

Urgent care
Scheduling was easy, I did it the night before. When I arrived, I was 2nd in line according to their link, and there didn’t seem to be many people there. Still, it took over an hour to be taken back and nearly 2 hours when all was said and done. This is my Urgent Care clinic of choice, but I’ve never seen this doctor before and it’s never taken this long in the past. Still, I would continue to use this clinic. Staff were friendly and my prescription was sent to my pharmacy promptly.

Urgent care in Selma, TX

Selma straddles Bexar, Comal, and Guadalupe counties along the I-35 corridor northeast of San Antonio, anchored by The Forum at Olympia Parkway and a dense retail footprint. Urgent care is well-served by clinics in adjacent Live Oak and Schertz. Book a same-day visit locally or in urgent care in San Antonio in under a minute.

What services do urgent care clinics in Selma offer?

Selma urgent care clinics handle the standard load — flu, strep, UTIs, sprains, lacerations, ear infections — plus DOT physicals, sports physicals for Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD and Judson ISD athletics, and on-site labs and X-ray. Methodist Hospital Northeast (Live Oak) sits just south, with Baptist Health System and University Health also operating urgent care and ER access along I-35.2

Does urgent care in Selma accept STAR (Texas Medicaid)?

Most Selma urgent care clinics accept STAR, the Texas Medicaid managed care program administered by Texas Health and Human Services.1 Texas has not expanded Medicaid under the ACA, so eligibility is largely limited to children, pregnant women, and very low-income families — KFF tracks Texas as the state with the highest uninsured rate in the country.3 Confirm your STAR managed care plan and any commercial coverage with the clinic before booking.

How does Selma urgent care relate to San Antonio?

Selma has roughly 11,400 residents but draws daytime traffic from across northeast San Antonio thanks to The Forum at Olympia Parkway — one of the largest retail centers in the region.4 The city sits about 18 miles northeast of downtown San Antonio along I-35 and is paired closely with Schertz, Cibolo, and Live Oak. Patients route into urgent care in San Antonio for higher-acuity and specialty care.

Urgent Care FAQs

  • Are there urgent care clinics in Selma?

Yes. Selma, TX has walk-in urgent care available either directly in town or within a short drive in adjacent communities. Most clinics offer same-day visits for common illnesses and minor injuries, with on-site labs and X-ray where needed. Use Solv to see real-time availability and book a slot before you walk in.
  • Does urgent care in Selma accept STAR (Texas Medicaid)?

Most urgent care clinics serving the Selma area accept STAR, the Texas Medicaid managed care program administered by Texas Health and Human Services. STAR is delivered through several managed care organizations (Amerigroup, Molina, Superior, United, etc.), so confirm with the specific clinic which MCOs they contract with before booking. Texas has not expanded Medicaid under the ACA, so working-age adults outside the standard STAR eligibility criteria typically do not qualify.
  • What insurance do urgent care centers in Selma accept?

Most Selma-area urgent care clinics accept commercial insurance plans (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Humana), Medicare, and TRICARE for active-duty military and veterans. Many also accept STAR (Texas Medicaid). Cash-pay and self-pay options are widely available — average urgent care visit costs run $100-$250 depending on services. Confirm your specific plan and copay with the clinic before booking.
  • Should I go to urgent care or the ER in Selma?

Urgent care handles non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries — flu, strep, UTIs, sprains, lacerations needing stitches, minor burns, ear infections, mild asthma flares — usually for a fraction of an ER bill and with shorter waits. Go to the ER (or call 911) for chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe trauma, difficulty breathing, severe abdominal pain, head injury with confusion, or any condition that feels life-threatening. The nearest hospital ER for Selma residents is Methodist Hospital Northeast (Live Oak).
  • Are urgent care clinics in Selma open on weekends and holidays?

Yes. Most Selma-area urgent care clinics are open seven days a week — typically weekdays until 8 or 9 PM and weekends through the early evening — with limited holiday hours. For 24-hour needs, the nearest emergency rooms are Methodist Hospital Northeast in Live Oak and the broader Methodist and Baptist Health System ERs in NE San Antonio. Book online to see real-time availability before driving in.
