This morning I was on my way with bronchitis. Went to Next Care (My file is there & 5 minutes from home) NextCare took care of me like no other could. I love NextCareUrgentCare. I prefer going to NCUC instead of my family Doctor. No comparison … UrgentCare is the way for me! 👍🏼👍🏼

Took my daughter in for wet cough, runny nose, fever, left-sided pain. Nurse practitioner quickly listened to my daughter’s lungs and said they were clear. Then swabbed her for flu and said it was positive. Two days later my daughter is worse and still complaining of left sided pain. No one at her school has the flu and she was vaccinated against the flu a month ago. We take her to a pediatric hospital ER bc she won’t eat or drink. They immediately do a CXR, and on physical exam note that there are decreased breath sounds on the L. CXR confirms left lower lobe pneumonia. Little Spurs missed it. Zero stars.

Day after thanksgiving- the wait was brutal but the provider and nurses were so kind and attentive. They worked so hard to keep my daughter asleep through as much of the assessment as possible and easily diagnosed what was going on with her, prescribed medications and provided the education I need to care for her. Big downside was the front desk was unwilling to provide an estimate on the wait time when asked. I would have preferred if they gave me a range- even if it was broad- so I could plan my day. I have a breastfeeding newborn at home I was trying to keep out of the clinic. If I knew it would be 3 hours  I would have had someone bring the sick kid lunch and bring me my pump.

The wait takes a little while but honestly that’s to be expected when you’re at any hospital or clinic. Everyone is very kind and accommodating. Always a very clean clinic. Only thing I would recommend is to turn the tv down in the lobby. When you’re ill and or having a headache all day the last thing you want to hear is the tv blaring. Thanks bunches ladies

Today I had a lady learning take my blood today. She did great! Only a pin hole bruise. Everyone was very friendly.

We were the only 2 in the waiting room. My 87 year old father and I both had to get blood drawn. My dad's name was called first. Dad walks with a walking stick. I walked dad to the room to make sure he was ok, help him take off his coat and seat him in the chair. The employee kept telling me to stay in the waiting room. I would be called soon. I told her we're together. She said the other person is getting my room ready now. I told her "ok". I continued to walk dad to the room. The employee kept telling me I would be called soon. I told her we're together. The other employee came into dad's room and asked if I was ready. I told her just as soon as I get dad situated. This was the first time someone tried to separate me from my dad. It was apparent that he needed assistance.

Jill was amazing. Compunet was at new location, GPS messed up and took me into a neighborhood. While I frantically called worried about appointment time, Jill stayed on phone and navigated me to location. Check in process was faster and she is even great with blood work. She was exceptional and overall employee like Jill is an asset to have.

I visited the facility for blood work. The experience was painless all around. The staff (both of them) were very friendly as well as professional. There were three people ahead of me and my wait was less than 10 minutes. This was my first visit to this facility and I will definitely come here every time I need blood work in the future. Thank for a great experience!

Took very little time. For ekg, again very nice, friendly and did not waste time. Facility, the Atrium Hospital, very clean. Overall, great experience, would not hesitate or question if I were asked to do this again. Thank you for such a pleasant and easy process. I would highly recommend this facility. Jessica did a great job! I am hard to draw blood and she got it. She was patient and knew what to do. I didn’t not have same experience a couple weeks ago at a different lab. Jessica is the best!

Xavier was the best phlebotomist ever. I am considered to be a hard stick and she looked at both arms and got blood from only 1 try. Her knowledge, confidence and compassion made my experience a total success.

The 2 women who took care of me were fantastic. Did feel the needle go in for bloodwork. And I am terrified of needles. This is the only place my husband and I come for bloodwork because how gentle and friendly everyone is here.

Friendly and efficient staff. I usually have difficulty getting blood drawn as it is difficult to find a good vein. The phlebotomist found a vein on the first try and I didn't feel a thing.

About Blood Tests

Blood tests are used as valuable snapshots of your current overall health and can be an effective way of catching illness or disease early, or measuring how you are reacting to new or on-going treatment. There are a variety of types of blood work with most common tests being complete blood counts (CBC), complete and basic metabolic panels (CMP, BMP), thyroid panels, nutrient tests, and sexually transmitted disease (STD) tests.

Each of these blood tests are fairly common and can be performed in a variety of settings including testing labs, primary care offices, urgent care centers, and even retail clinics and some pharmacies. Solv even has clinic partners in the San Antonio-area that offer online scheduling, allowing you to book a visit convenient to your schedule and skip the wait. The tests themselves take only a few minutes and usually are performed by a nurse or technician where they:

  1. Clean the area where they will draw blood from, usually your upper arm
  2. Tie a band to your upper arm to make your veins more visible
  3. Put a needle gently into a vein to draw blood into the attached tube
  4. Remove the needle, then the band from the vein when complete
  5. Cover the draw site with a bandage

Risks associated with blood work are very low, but could possibly include slight pain or discomfort at the draw site, dizziness or even fainting from blood loss, or vein puncture. It’s important to discuss any concerns you may have with your medical provider before the procedure begins.

Blood tests provide a valuable look at your overall health and blood work should be done at least once a year. They offer a great way to catch illness or disease early on, or see how you are progressing with on-going treatment. Your doctor or healthcare provider typically orders blood tests for you during an annual physical or as necessary for a specific diagnosis. It’s possible to order your own blood tests without a doctor, particularly for things like STD tests or hemoglobin A1c tests.

  • How much does a blood test cost in San Antonio?

Without insurance, blood work typically costs between $50 to $1,000, or sometimes more depending on the specific tests and the provider type you are having the tests performed at. At-home tests are available in most areas and could cost substantially less. Book a consultation with a lab testing provider in San Antonio today to get more details on the specific blood work you are looking for.

  • How long do blood tests take?

Blood tests can be performed either in-office or performed on samples that are sent to an outside lab. The collection itself should only take a few minutes, and the results could be ready within a few hours or up to one to two weeks depending on the test you are getting done. Once you’ve received your results, your doctor can discuss them with you either in-person, on the phone, or through a video visit.

  • Is blood work covered by my insurance?

Most common blood tests are covered under insurance plans, particularly when your doctor orders them as part of an annual physical or supporting a diagnosis. If you are self prescribing the test, however, it may not be covered by insurance. If you have questions about your specific insurance coverage, it is best to contact your carrier or your provider.
