The nurse I saw was lovely and very helpful. However some of the test results were never communicated and I was told I would hear more about next steps after my appointment. I am also bothered by the lack of visit summaries and other details. Facility was clean and spacious, easy to schedule but I care a lot more about the record keeping and communication.

Wait time of an hour when I had an appointment and waiting room was empty was not good.  However, nurse practitioner was very good at taking history, reviewing symptoms, then discussing treatment.   When it turned out my pharmacy was closed for Labor Day, staff very helpful changing prescription to alternate pharmacy.

The office staff were friendly and professional. The office is in a great location with easy access, and the environment was very clean. They accepted my insurance without any issues. The doctor was kind, patient, and took the time to answer all my questions. Overall, I had a very positive experience and would highly recommend this office. Unfortunately, the app does not allow patients to send messages directly to the doctor.

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

Anyone who has been exposed to risk factors associated with hepatitis should consider getting tested. These risk factors may include unprotected sex, sharing needles, or being born to a mother with hepatitis. Additionally, those who have traveled to countries with high rates of hepatitis or have been in close contact with someone who has the disease should also consider testing. According to the CDC, baby boomers (those born between 1945 and 1965) are particularly at risk for hepatitis C and should be tested regardless of other risk factors.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial as early detection can prevent serious health complications, such as liver disease and cancer. It can also help prevent the spread of the disease to others. Hepatitis often shows no symptoms until the liver has been significantly damaged, so regular testing is key for those at risk.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Free STD testing and community health centers also offer hepatitis testing. These centers are often funded by the state or federal government and provide services regardless of the patient's ability to pay.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits for hepatitis are also available. These kits can be ordered online and used in the privacy of your own home. The sample is then sent to a lab for testing, with results typically available within a few days.

Prevalence of hepatitis in Bridgeport

While specific data on the prevalence of hepatitis in Bridgeport is not readily available, the CDC reports that Connecticut has a moderate prevalence of hepatitis compared to other states. However, it's important to note that rates can vary widely within the state and are often higher in urban areas like Bridgeport.

Risk factors related to hepatitis in Bridgeport

Risk factors for hepatitis in Bridgeport are similar to those in other urban areas and include unprotected sex, drug use, and close contact with someone who has the disease. Socioeconomic factors such as poverty and lack of access to healthcare can also increase risk.

Other STDs in Bridgeport

In addition to hepatitis, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis are also prevalent in Bridgeport. Regular testing for all STDs is recommended for those at risk. Testing locations like Island MD Urgent Care/Primary Care in Hicksville, NY and Express Care Urgent Care in Hamden, CT, both highly rated, offer comprehensive STD testing.
