I’ve had a cold that I just can’t kick, and a possibly broken toe. I scheduled an appointment instantly and went to DOCS for both, and while I appreciated the medical assistant, he lost me when he wheeled in an iPad with a fast-talking doctor. Perhaps it was the 7% battery that rushed the appointment, but apparently my upper respiratory infection is because I use cotton swabs to clean my ears. So, now I have ear drops to clear out my sinuses and chest. Maybe I need to drink them? I had such a great experience when I almost cut off my finger, but this was a prime example of no one caring about anything except billing my insurance and taking a copay. If I wanted to talk to an iPad, I could have done telehealth at home (though the wireless otolaryngologist attachments were pretty cool, I admit). Sorry, DOCS. This piss-poor bedside manner just lost you a customer. Notice how I didn’t mention the toe. Yeah, neither did they.

Honestly I was underimpressed with the service - my doctor was virtual and it felt like there was less care given. I also had no idea the doctor wasn’t on premise a heads up would have been nice - why did I pay 200 for a virtual visit. Disappointing

I stopped by Docs Urgent Care. Took about 20 minutes to get in a room. Staff was great. Took about 20 minutes more before I got to see a doctor virtually. He prescribed medication which I got filled at CVS. This was my first experience with a virtual medical visit. Not sure how I feel about it.

Although I had an appointment, I still had to wait a half hour before my turn. I had to explain why I was there to 3 people: the MA, the intern, then the provider. My symptoms included cough, congestion, headache, sore throat. When I came 3 months earlier with similar symptoms, I was prescribed one medication for cough and another for congestion. This time I was not given any prescriptions. I would not have wasted my time if I knew I would not be given a prescription to relieve my symptoms.

About Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) Testing

Overview

Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) Testing is a diagnostic test that checks for immunity to these three viral infections: measles, mumps, and rubella. The MMR vaccine is highly effective in preventing these diseases, but some individuals may not develop sufficient immunity after vaccination. MMR Testing helps determine whether a person is immune to these viruses, ensuring adequate protection and preventing outbreaks of these contagious diseases.

Who Should Get Tested

If you reside in New Preston, Connecticut, and are unsure of your immunity status to measles, mumps, and rubella, MMR Testing is recommended. This is especially important for individuals born before the MMR vaccine was widely available or those who have not received the recommended doses of the vaccine.

Tests Included in Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) Testing

MMR Testing typically involves:

  • Measles Antibody Test
  • Mumps Antibody Test
  • Rubella Antibody Test

Interpreting the Results

The interpretation of MMR Testing results involves assessing the presence of specific antibodies to measles, mumps, and rubella viruses. Positive results indicate immunity to the respective virus, while negative results suggest the need for vaccination or booster doses to achieve adequate protection.

MMR Testing is important for:

  • Verifying immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella
  • Protecting against these contagious viral infections
  • Preventing outbreaks and controlling the spread of these diseases
  • Ensuring sufficient immunity in high-risk populations, such as healthcare workers and travelers

Following the Test

After Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) Testing, healthcare providers discuss the results with individuals. For those without adequate immunity, vaccination or booster doses may be recommended to ensure protection against these viral infections.

MMR Testing is a proactive measure to safeguard public health and prevent the resurgence of measles, mumps, and rubella in New Preston, Connecticut. It contributes to maintaining herd immunity and protects vulnerable populations from severe complications of these diseases.
