It’s been about a year since my last visit. That one was good - this one was exceptional. May, Erica, Maggie, and Dr Morris were universally kind, patient, thorough, engaged, and helpful. Nothing more one could possibly ask on a super-cold Sunday morning. Grateful! Hope it’s not soon, but it’s definitely a place of care that I will return to.

Took dad due to potential pneumonia. Lady at check was attentive and eased the process. She also told nurse of breathing concerns and the nurse came out to waiting room to check his vitals to see if he needed to be taken back asap.  Doctor was informative and friendly… great bedside manner!! Other nurse and CNA were both very attentive as well! Would highly recommend this urgent care location.

Asheville Chlamydia Testing

Who should get tested for chlamydia?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider being tested for chlamydia. This is particularly important for those who have multiple sexual partners, are under the age of 25, or are men who have sex with men. It's also crucial for pregnant women to get tested, as chlamydia can cause complications during pregnancy and can be passed on to the baby during childbirth.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for chlamydia is essential for several reasons. Firstly, chlamydia often has no symptoms, meaning you could have the infection without knowing it. If left untreated, chlamydia can lead to serious health problems, including pelvic inflammatory disease in women and epididymitis in men - both of which can result in infertility. Furthermore, having chlamydia increases your risk of acquiring other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV.

Chlamydia testing options in Asheville, NC:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Asheville has several urgent care and walk-in clinics where you can get tested for chlamydia. For instance, the Mercy Urgent Care on Patton Ave offers STD testing services. With a high rating and positive reviews, it's a reliable choice for prompt and professional care. You can book same-day and next-day appointments through Solv’s website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Your primary care provider can also test for chlamydia. If you don't have a primary care provider, there are over 50 locations in Asheville and nearby cities like Woodfin and Weaverville where you can find one.

Free STD testing and community health centers

There are also community health centers in Asheville that offer free or low-cost STD testing. These centers are a vital resource, particularly for those without insurance or with limited income.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits for chlamydia are another option. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and then sent to a lab for analysis. This option offers convenience and privacy, but it's essential to choose a reputable provider to ensure accurate results.

Prevalence of chlamydia in Asheville

Asheville, located in Buncombe County, has seen a steady increase in chlamydia cases over the years. According to the CDC, Buncombe County's chlamydia rate is higher than that of nearby Madison and Raleigh Counties, but lower than the national average. This trend indicates that chlamydia is a significant public health concern in Asheville.

Risk factors related to chlamydia in Asheville

Several risk factors may contribute to the prevalence of chlamydia in Asheville. These include a high rate of unprotected sex, multiple sexual partners, and a lack of regular testing. Additionally, individuals aged 15-24 are at a higher risk, as this age group accounts for the majority of chlamydia cases.

Other STDs in Asheville

While chlamydia is a significant concern, it's not the only STD affecting Asheville residents. Other common STDs include gonorrhea, syphilis, hepatitis, and HIV. The rates of these infections vary, but like chlamydia, they've generally been on the rise in recent years. Regular testing for all STDs is crucial to prevent their spread and to ensure prompt treatment.
