The Nurse Practitioner, Vanessa, was so caring and understanding that I was feeling horrible. She quickly saw me and her assistant, Sadie was wonderful when she swabbed me and gave me a shot. Letica was so kind in helping me feel out the paperwork. I appreciate NextCare for providing care when and where it is needed!

DOT Exam FAQs

  • Where can I get a DOT exam in Edna?

In general, DOT exams will be available at Edna-area urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care doctor offices, and some chiropractic offices. Just be cautious of who you schedule yours with as online DOT certified providers are able to perform a DOT exam. While walk-in appointments are typically available, booking a visit online will reduce your wait time and ensure you get a physical and get on the road as quickly and easily as possible

  • Can I make a same-day appointment for a DOT exam in Edna?

Same-day and next-day appointments for physical exams can easily be booked directly through Solv. Simply search for Edna-area doctors, find a provider, and book an appointment for a DOT physical as soon as today.

  • How can I book a DOT physical in Edna?

If you are looking for a DOT physical in Edna, Solv can help you book an appointment. Simply search for Edna-area providers, find a provider, and book the most convenient time for you. Be sure to include “DOT physical exam” as your reason for visit.

  • How do I find top-rated, certified DOT exam providers?

Solv gathers reviews, ratings, and other data on Edna-area physicians centers to ensure the clinics provided meet our standards. Search for a DOT physical provider, see what previous patients think, and book a physical with a top-rated doctor today!

  • Who should get a DOT exam?

Drivers operating commercial vehicles across state lines must get a DOT physical if their vehicle weighs more than five tons, is designed to carry 9-15 passengers for compensation, is designed to carry 16+ passengers, or if they are transporting hazardous materials. Drivers must receive a DOT physical every 24 months or as determined by a doctor. The rules for drivers who stay within one state will vary. Check to see if Texas requires a DOT physical for intrastate driving before booking an appointment.

  • What is a DOT physical?

According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), a DOT physical is a medical examination that helps make sure you are medically safe to operate a certified motor vehicle. Because certified motor vehicles generally are larger and more difficult to operate than passenger cars, their professional drivers are held to higher standards to keep everyone on the road as safe as possible.

  • How long is a DOT physical good for?

According to the FMCSA, DOT physicals are typically valid for 24 months. However, if a condition has been identified on your last exam that requires an earlier re-examination time, you may need to be reassessed sooner. For example, according to the AAFP, people who take blood pressure medication must be recertified annually to maintain their standing with the DOT.

  • What can disqualify you from a DOT physical?

According to the FMCSA, the following conditions can disqualify you from a DOT physical: hearing loss, vision loss, epilepsy (seizure disorder), or insulin use. Some prescription medications may also be disqualifying, especially if they are sedating or habit-forming, according to the FMCSA.

  • What happens if you fail DOT physical?

If you fail a DOT physical because of a certain medical condition, you can apply for a medical waiver or an exemption, according to the FMCSA. This may be granted if you can prove that you can still operate a motor vehicle safely, despite the condition. You are also allowed to get a second opinion, according to the eCFR (Code of Federal Regulations).

  • Does a DOT physical check for drugs?

No, the typical DOT physical does not test for drugs. However, professional drivers are subject to random drug and alcohol testing, according to the FMCSA. Also, if your DOT physical is part of a pre-employment process, then your urine will likely be checked for drugs, according to the Code of Federal Regulations.

DOT Physical was smooth and effecient

As a bus driver I get a DOT physical every year and have been to many different locations to do so. This was my first time going to the McKinney PrimaCare and I can definitely say that this staff at this location is far and above the very best I’ve ever been to. Every person I interacted with was welcoming, warm, and friendly. This is especially important for me because I am terrified to go to the doctor and not much terrifies me ;-) I will use this location again. Can’t say enough about this competent and caring staff!!!!!!

When I entered the front doors the staff instructed me on how to check in from a safe distance and everything else was very easy to understand and self-explanatory. I then sat in the waiting room and before I knew it, they called me to the back and everything went very quickly, quicker than I thought it would. I was very pleased. The whole process worked very quickly and very professionally. It was a much more pleasant experience than the last clinic that our company used for DOT physicals.

My expierence today was excellent. It was my first dot physical and I was having trouble getting my bp down to pass. There was a red headed nurse that took the time to make me comfortable enough and relaxed enough to achieve an acceptable number . Forgive me for not knowing her name, but she brought me a bottle of water and allowed me to occupy a room long enough for her to get a manual measurement that was acceptable. She made the difference today! Thank you

It is not my regular doctor's office. But they recommended these folks from my DOT physical. The staff was fantastic, and very professional. I usually do not like doctors offices, but I was very comfortable here. And the doctor that saw me had a fantastic sense of humor, that made the visit even more pleasurable. I definitely recommend this place for anybody who needs to see a doctor, and I would definitely visit here again.

I can not express enough how my treatment was today. I showed up to get my DOT physical exam. I was greeted with a pleasant smile and a detailed description of the paperwork I had to fill out. I had a request to use the restroom early for the urinalysis test because of water intake and driving time.. I was immediately granted permission. This was an awesome experience with smiles and a few laughs the staff is wonderful. And Advanced practice nurse RAGONE was absolutely a pleasant treat to go through this . She makes you feel completely comfortable and is very thorough with the medical questions. I felt so at ease and will definitely be coming back because of her in the future to renew my DOT card. Thank you all for your great service and all you've done through this madness. With all my respect RM. 1-16-21

DOT Exams in Edna, TX

If you work in the transportation industry, you're probably familiar with the concept of a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical. Professional drivers must undergo this type of medical check in order to maintain their license. Finding a DOT physical provider, on the other hand, might be difficult, especially if you're in a hurry. We've simplified the DOT exam search at Solv.

How Solv makes getting your DOT exam simple and convenient

It can be stressful when your DOT certification is about to expire. You can, however, arrange an appointment with a top-rated local DOT examination provider using Solv's simple DOT exam locator tool. This simple and convenient search tool can assist you in locating the specific evaluation you require to maintain your professional standing.

Partnering with Solv for DOT exam services

A DOT physical exam is a thorough examination of your current health to ensure that you are fit to drive a commercial vehicle safely (CMV). Professional DOT physicals can help you and other drivers stay safe while on the road. To operate a commercial motor vehicle safely, everyone with a commercial driver's license (CDL) must meet certain health standards, according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). A specially certified medical examiner must undertake this DOT physical, often known as a CDL physical or CDL exam.

Specific areas of your health will be assessed during a DOT physical to ensure that you can safely and successfully operate a motor vehicle. The DOT health evaluation comprises the following, according to the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP):

  • A physical examination will be performed, which will include a test of your gripping ability, cognitive state, and mobility. A DOT examiner will confirm that you have a prosthetic device that meets federal regulations if you have an amputation.
  • A review of your medical history, including whether you have insulin-dependent diabetes, heart problems, breathing problems, high blood pressure, epilepsy, rheumatic conditions, arthritis, orthopedic conditions that can impair your ability to drive, or psychiatric conditions.
  • With or without corrective lenses, a vision test to ensure that you are inside a specific, predetermined range for visual acuity, color perception, and peripheral vision.
  • A hearing test, with or without a hearing equipment, to ensure that you can hear particular decibel levels within a certain range.
  • A urine test to see how well your kidneys are working. Your urine may also be tested for drugs, depending on your exam and medical history.
  • A medical examination to determine whether or not you are abusing alcohol.

Unless a condition is found on the exam that requires recertification sooner, your DOT certification is normally valid for 24 months after you earn it. If you fail the exam due to a medical condition, you may be allowed to ask for an exemption, according to the FMCSA. A second opinion may also be available to you.
