I appreciate how friendly everyone is, and I was comfortable with the care I received. I wish there was more than one PA on duty because that’s why the wait time was long. I could tell she was doing the best she could on a busy day, though.

Darren, my Physician’s Assistant was professional and had a wonderful “bedside manner”.  Listened to me  inspired confidence in his knowledge.   Would rather not be sick but if need medical care this is tops.

Friendly Staff

AFC Urgent Care, Southpoint - 6400 Fayetteville Rd
Came in to the urgent care with an online appointment scheduled. I have been here several times. I have insurance, which was verified by the office, but the front desk girl said I was required to have a credit card on file but couldn’t tell me why. She did say it would be on file in your system for FIVE years. Not only does that seem to be a crazy ask with verified insurance, she could explain why the card was needed or why it would be on file for years. Makes me question things for sure…. The provider was great but first impression needs improvement.

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

According to the CDC, anyone who has been exposed to hepatitis through unprotected sex, shared needles, or contact with infected blood should get tested. This includes individuals who have had multiple sexual partners, men who have sex with men, and those who have a history of other sexually transmitted diseases. Additionally, people with chronic liver disease, HIV, or anyone born to a mother with hepatitis should also consider getting tested.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial as it helps in early detection and treatment, preventing further complications such as liver disease or liver cancer. According to the Mayo Clinic, early treatment can help manage symptoms and reduce the risk of transmission to others. It also allows individuals to make informed decisions about their health and lifestyle to prevent further spread of the disease.

Primary care providers are another reliable option for hepatitis testing. Regular check-ups with your primary care provider can include routine screenings for hepatitis, especially if you fall into a high-risk group.

Free STD testing and community health centers

For those with limited resources, free STD testing and community health centers in Raleigh provide accessible hepatitis testing. These centers are committed to public health and often provide testing for other STDs as well.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits are also available for those seeking privacy and convenience. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and sent back to a lab for results.

Prevalence of hepatitis in Raleigh

According to CDC data, Raleigh has seen a steady increase in hepatitis cases over the past few years, mirroring national trends. This increase may be attributed to various factors, including increased testing and awareness, as well as higher rates of unprotected sex and drug use.

Risk factors related to hepatitis in Raleigh

Risk factors for hepatitis in Raleigh include unprotected sex, intravenous drug use, and having multiple sexual partners. Other risk factors include being born to a mother with hepatitis, having a history of other STDs, and being a man who has sex with men.

Other STDs in Raleigh

In addition to hepatitis, Raleigh has seen a rise in other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis. As reported by WebMD, these increases underscore the importance of regular testing for all sexually active individuals. Regular testing can help detect these diseases early, leading to more effective treatment and reducing the risk of transmission.
