Urgent care in League City, TX

League City anchors the Clear Lake/Bay Area corridor between Houston and Galveston, with urgent care clinics from HCA Houston Healthcare, UTMB Health, and Memorial Hermann competing for same-day visits. Book a walk-in slot near you or in urgent care in Houston in under a minute.

What services do urgent care clinics in League City offer?

League City urgent care clinics treat common acute conditions — respiratory infections, ear infections, UTIs, minor lacerations, sprains, allergic reactions — and offer school and sports physicals, occupational health for NASA contractors and Bay Area employers, and on-site labs. HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake, UTMB Health, and Memorial Hermann all operate urgent care or ER-affiliated walk-in locations in League City, Webster, and Friendswood, giving residents three distinct system options within a 10-minute drive.2

Does urgent care in League City accept STAR (Texas Medicaid)?

Most League City urgent care clinics accept STAR, the Texas Medicaid managed care program administered by Texas Health and Human Services for eligible families, pregnant women, and children.1 Texas remains a non-expansion state, leaving working-age adults above CHIP/STAR thresholds in a well-known coverage gap; KFF reports Texas has the highest uninsured rate in the U.S. at roughly 16-17%.3 If you're a STAR member, confirm with the clinic which managed care organization they contract with before booking.

How does League City urgent care relate to Houston?

League City has roughly 114,392 residents — making it one of the largest Houston suburbs and the second-largest city in Galveston County after Galveston itself.4 Its identity is tied to the Clear Lake aerospace corridor anchored by NASA Johnson Space Center, with a workforce of engineers, contractors, and Port of Houston/marina-related industries. Patients regularly route into urgent care in Houston for Texas Medical Center specialists when urgent care escalates to higher-acuity needs.

Urgent Care FAQs

  • Are there urgent care clinics in League City?

Yes. League City, TX has walk-in urgent care available either directly in town or within a short drive in adjacent communities. Most clinics offer same-day visits for common illnesses and minor injuries, with on-site labs and X-ray where needed. Use Solv to see real-time availability and book a slot before you walk in.
  • Does urgent care in League City accept STAR (Texas Medicaid)?

Most urgent care clinics serving the League City area accept STAR, the Texas Medicaid managed care program administered by Texas Health and Human Services. STAR is delivered through several managed care organizations (Amerigroup, Molina, Superior, United, etc.), so confirm with the specific clinic which MCOs they contract with before booking. Texas has not expanded Medicaid under the ACA, so working-age adults outside the standard STAR eligibility criteria typically do not qualify.
  • What insurance do urgent care centers in League City accept?

Most League City-area urgent care clinics accept commercial insurance plans (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Humana), Medicare, and TRICARE for active-duty military and veterans. Many also accept STAR (Texas Medicaid). Cash-pay and self-pay options are widely available — average urgent care visit costs run $100-$250 depending on services. Confirm your specific plan and copay with the clinic before booking.
  • Should I go to urgent care or the ER in League City?

Urgent care handles non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries — flu, strep, UTIs, sprains, lacerations needing stitches, minor burns, ear infections, mild asthma flares — usually for a fraction of an ER bill and with shorter waits. Go to the ER (or call 911) for chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe trauma, difficulty breathing, severe abdominal pain, head injury with confusion, or any condition that feels life-threatening. The nearest hospital ER for League City residents is HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake.
  • Are there bilingual or NASA-area occupational health urgent care options in League City?

Yes. League City's urgent care market reflects the bilingual Bay Area workforce, with most clinics offering Spanish-speaking staff, and several offering occupational health and pre-employment screens geared toward NASA contractors, Port of Houston employers, and the Bay Area's petrochemical workforce. Call ahead if you need a specific corporate panel or post-incident drug screen.
