The staff were very nice and very helpful. The only issue I had was that I ended up needing to go to the hospital as my condition was more serious then initially determined by urgent care. I would have appreciated referral instead of waiting for the pain to worsen.

I was able to choose a Quest lab location and schedule an appointment. Check in was easy, and I only needed to provide my name and DOB. They were able to locate my order in their system. They were already aware that my labs were paid for prior to the appointment. I had my labs done on a Wednesday, and I received my results by Saturday. Great experience.

A great experience for something I had a lot of anxiety about. Had no wait time or issues at the testing center/lab. Had blood drawn at 3pm and had results by email at 9am the next morning.

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

Individuals who are at a higher risk of contracting hepatitis should consider getting tested. This includes those who have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with hepatitis, individuals who have traveled to countries with high rates of hepatitis, people who have engaged in unprotected sex, intravenous drug users, and individuals with a weakened immune system. According to the CDC, it's also recommended for all adults in the United States to get tested for hepatitis C, as it's a common type of hepatitis in the country.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial as it helps in early detection and treatment, preventing the disease from progressing to severe liver diseases like cirrhosis and liver cancer. It also helps in preventing the spread of the disease to others. According to the CDC, many people with hepatitis do not have symptoms and do not know they are infected, hence the importance of regular testing especially for those in high-risk groups.

Comparatively, nearby counties like Raleigh County and Fayette County have reported similar trends in hepatitis cases. It's important to note that these numbers can vary due to factors such as population density and local health initiatives.

Risk factors for hepatitis in Harrisburg are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include unprotected sex, use of illicit drugs, close contact with a person who has hepatitis, and travel to countries with high hepatitis prevalence. Socioeconomic factors such as access to healthcare and public health initiatives can also influence the risk and prevalence of hepatitis.
