I blame the company for the wait time — offering 10 appointment times in one hour is irresponsible and poor personnel management— I felt terrible for the one receptionist, the one nurse, and the one practitioner. The people were lovely but the process needs improvement.

Urgent care in Allen, TX

Allen sits at the intersection of US-75 and SH-121 in Collin County, where corporate campuses, family-friendly retail, and rapid northward growth drive steady demand for same-day care. Book urgent care online below or compare wait times and clinic distance against the broader pool of urgent care in Dallas.

What services do urgent care clinics in Allen offer?

Urgent care clinics in Allen, TX treat routine illnesses, sprains, lacerations needing stitches, urinary tract infections, school and sports physicals, and most pediatric concerns. Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen and CareNow Urgent Care operate locations along the Watters Creek and Stacy Road corridors, and Children’s Health pediatric clinics serve families along the SH-121 corridor.2

Most Allen-area urgent care clinics are open seven days a week, with extended weekday and weekend hours, on-site digital X-ray, basic in-house labs (rapid strep, flu, COVID-19, urinalysis), and standard suturing capability. Cash-pay rates and copays should be confirmed at booking; many clinics post transparent self-pay pricing online. Booking through Solv lets you compare clinic distance, real-time wait, and reviews before you commit, which often saves time during peak respiratory season (October–February) and back-to-school physical season (July–August).

Does urgent care in Allen accept Texas STAR Medicaid?

Yes. Most urgent care clinics in Allen accept Texas STAR Medicaid, the state’s managed-care Medicaid program administered by Texas Health and Human Services.1 Patients enrolled in STAR, STAR+PLUS, or STAR Kids should confirm in-network status with their managed-care organization before booking. KFF reports that roughly 16% of Texas residents are covered by Medicaid statewide.3

In addition to STAR, Texas runs CHIP (children's coverage), STAR+PLUS (Medicaid + Medicare for adults with disabilities), STAR Kids (Medicaid for children with disabilities), and STAR Health (foster care). Coverage rules differ across programs — patients should bring their MCO ID card, a state-issued photo ID, and any referral paperwork to a Allen urgent care visit. If you're unsure whether a clinic accepts your specific Medicaid plan, call the clinic before booking or use Solv's in-network filter to narrow the list.

How does Allen urgent care relate to Dallas?

Allen is a near-suburb of Dallas, located about 25 miles north of downtown along US-75. With a population of an estimated 110,500 residents per U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts,4 the city anchors a corporate corridor that includes Watters Creek, Twin Creeks, and the Stacy Road retail and office cluster — most residents commute toward Plano, Frisco, or downtown Dallas. Allen residents who can't find a local opening often book at clinics in Plano or McKinney; comparing options across urgent care in Dallas can shorten wait times during peak respiratory season.

For most non-life-threatening problems, an urgent care visit is faster and considerably less expensive than the ER. KFF research consistently shows the average emergency department visit costs several times what a comparable urgent care visit costs, even before insurance.3 Patients in Allen who can't get into a local urgent care clinic often have shorter waits at clinics in adjacent suburbs, and most major hospital networks — including Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen — share medical records across affiliated locations, so visiting a sister clinic generally doesn't fragment your care.

Common reasons Allen residents book urgent care include sore throats, ear infections, urinary tract infections, sprains and minor fractures, lacerations, low-grade fevers, mild allergic reactions, rashes, eye irritation, and routine school or sports physicals. For chest pain, stroke symptoms (sudden weakness, slurred speech, vision loss), severe abdominal pain, head injury with confusion or loss of consciousness, major bleeding, severe burns, or any breathing difficulty, the ER — including Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen — is the right choice. Telehealth is another option for clear-cut viral illnesses or prescription refills, and many Allen-area urgent care brands offer same-day virtual visits in addition to in-person care.
