Front desk is not very friendly and has no urgency at all. Not great for a worried mother. Clinical staff and nurse practitioners are absolutely amazing. Great care!

I usually have a real positive experience at your facility. But this time it was not as much so. I still left with pain and nothing really to help. The only positive thing was he told me what the problem was. I do have an appointment with my orthopedic doctor tomorrow. I do appreciate having the insight as to what the problem was.

Never encountered more uninterested healthcare professionals in my life. The nurse taking vitals was leaned over the BP monitor cart while the cuff popped off twice, exhaling heavily like they had far better places to be and things to do.

I felt like the sickness was dismissed as a virus very quickly, didn’t even bother to check for strep. The staff is very friendly, but I just wish they would take our concerns a little more serious.

Urgent care in Richardson, TX

Richardson anchors the DFW Telecom Corridor along US-75, home to UT Dallas and a dense cluster of tech employers (AT&T, Texas Instruments, Verizon, Fujitsu). Urgent care is well-served by Methodist Richardson, Texas Health, and Baylor Scott & White. Book a same-day visit locally or in urgent care in Dallas in under a minute.

What services do urgent care clinics in Richardson offer?

Richardson urgent care clinics handle the everyday range — strep, flu, UTIs, ear infections, sprains, lacerations, allergic reactions — plus DOT physicals, on-site labs, X-ray, and student health support for UT Dallas. Methodist Richardson Medical Center anchors the local hospital and runs affiliated urgent care, while Texas Health Resources (Texas Health Presbyterian Plano) and Baylor Scott & White both maintain urgent care clinics along US-75 and the President George Bush Turnpike.2

Does urgent care in Richardson accept STAR (Texas Medicaid)?

Most Richardson urgent care clinics accept STAR, the Texas Medicaid managed care program administered by Texas Health and Human Services.1 Texas has not expanded Medicaid under the ACA, so eligibility is largely limited to children, pregnant women, and very low-income families — KFF tracks Texas as the state with the highest uninsured rate.3 In a market as plan-diverse as Richardson, confirming the specific STAR MCO and commercial plan acceptance with the clinic is worth the call.

How does Richardson urgent care relate to Dallas?

Richardson has roughly 120,000 residents straddling the Dallas/Collin County line, with an economy tied to the Telecom Corridor and UT Dallas's growing research footprint.4 It sits about 15 miles north of downtown Dallas along US-75, with patients escalating routinely into the broader Methodist and UT Southwestern systems in urgent care in Dallas for specialty care.

Urgent Care FAQs

  • Are there urgent care clinics in Richardson?

Yes. Richardson, TX has walk-in urgent care available either directly in town or within a short drive in adjacent communities. Most clinics offer same-day visits for common illnesses and minor injuries, with on-site labs and X-ray where needed. Use Solv to see real-time availability and book a slot before you walk in.
  • Does urgent care in Richardson accept STAR (Texas Medicaid)?

Most urgent care clinics serving the Richardson area accept STAR, the Texas Medicaid managed care program administered by Texas Health and Human Services. STAR is delivered through several managed care organizations (Amerigroup, Molina, Superior, United, etc.), so confirm with the specific clinic which MCOs they contract with before booking. Texas has not expanded Medicaid under the ACA, so working-age adults outside the standard STAR eligibility criteria typically do not qualify.
  • What insurance do urgent care centers in Richardson accept?

Most Richardson-area urgent care clinics accept commercial insurance plans (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Humana), Medicare, and TRICARE for active-duty military and veterans. Many also accept STAR (Texas Medicaid). Cash-pay and self-pay options are widely available — average urgent care visit costs run $100-$250 depending on services. Confirm your specific plan and copay with the clinic before booking.
  • Should I go to urgent care or the ER in Richardson?

Urgent care handles non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries — flu, strep, UTIs, sprains, lacerations needing stitches, minor burns, ear infections, mild asthma flares — usually for a fraction of an ER bill and with shorter waits. Go to the ER (or call 911) for chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe trauma, difficulty breathing, severe abdominal pain, head injury with confusion, or any condition that feels life-threatening. The nearest hospital ER for Richardson residents is Methodist Richardson Medical Center.
  • Where do UT Dallas students go for urgent care?

UT Dallas operates a Student Health Center on campus for basic care, but for after-hours or higher-acuity walk-in needs — fractures requiring X-ray, lacerations needing stitches, severe flu, or STI testing — students typically use urgent care clinics along US-75 in Richardson, with several within a 5-minute drive of campus. Most accept student commercial plans, STAR, and cash-pay; book online before walking in.
