I’ve always had a good experience here.  Walk-ins welcome.  Wait on average an hour.  Staff courteous and compassionate.  PA and nurse top notch.  Efficient and feel like it was worth the visit.

Everything was great except somehow I was enrolled in autopay. I don’t like autopay, so I don’t know how the enrollment happened, as I would not have selected to be enrolled in autopay. I tried to call to resolve the issue and I had a very frustrating experience with an AI bot. The issue was not resolved.  Not everyone likes autopay and bots—some of us prefer the real customer service experience. There is a great staff at this location, and it would be even better without all this autopay bot stuff, as it’s just a waste of everyone’s time.

Urgent Care in Manvel, TX

Manvel is a growing suburban city in northern Brazoria County, Texas, situated at the intersection of State Highway 6 and Highway 288 about 25 miles south of downtown Houston. With a population approaching 15,000, Manvel offers the combination of small-town community feel and accessibility to Houston's broader medical infrastructure. APT Urgent Care serves the immediate Manvel area, and Memorial Hermann-GoHealth Urgent Care provides an additional walk-in option serving nearby residents. For extended care options, the full Houston urgent care network is accessible within a short drive north on Hwy 288.

When should you use urgent care instead of the ER in Manvel?

Urgent care is the appropriate setting for most non-emergency medical needs: respiratory infections, ear and sinus infections, strep throat, UTIs, rashes, minor lacerations, sprains, and flu symptoms. The growing Manvel community benefits from walk-in access that avoids long ER waits and higher cost for conditions that don't require hospital-level care. Reserve the emergency room for chest pain, stroke symptoms, major trauma, severe difficulty breathing, or any condition that may be immediately life-threatening. APT Urgent Care and similar area clinics can assess severity and arrange transfers when necessary.

What do urgent care clinics in Manvel treat?

Walk-in clinics in and around Manvel treat adults and children for a broad range of conditions, including respiratory illness, seasonal allergies, pediatric infections, sports injuries, and skin conditions. Lab testing and basic imaging support diagnosis of common conditions without requiring a specialist visit. Clinics also offer occupational health services including DOT physicals near Manvel, TX for commercial drivers on the Hwy 6 and Hwy 288 corridors, and sports physicals near Manvel, TX for local school athletic programs.

Seasonal and environmental health in Manvel

Manvel's location in Brazoria County's low-lying coastal plain creates distinct seasonal health patterns. Summer heat and humidity are extreme—heat index values regularly exceed 100°F from June through September, making heat exhaustion and dehydration common reasons for urgent care visits. Gulf Coast mosquito season is prolonged, with West Nile virus an ongoing surveillance priority. According to the Brazoria County Health Department,1 vector-borne disease monitoring and storm-related public health responses are priorities for the county's health infrastructure. Houston-area cedar and oak pollen seasons drive allergy symptoms from December through spring.

Who lives in Manvel, TX?

According to the U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts,2 Manvel is a smaller but growing community with a population near 14,758, reflecting the expansion of Houston's southern suburbs into Brazoria County. The community is diverse and includes families drawn by newer housing and access to Houston employment centers. A meaningful share of Manvel residents are uninsured or rely on STAR Medicaid for coverage.

Does urgent care in Manvel accept STAR Medicaid and other insurance?

Texas Medicaid is administered through the STAR managed care program, which provides health coverage for qualifying low-income children, pregnant women, and eligible adults, as described by Texas Health and Human Services.3 STAR members should verify their specific managed care organization's network before visiting, as covered clinics vary by plan. According to KFF State Health Facts,4 Texas has one of the highest uninsured rates in the United States, making self-pay pricing transparency an important access consideration for residents across the state.
