Urgent care
I was from out of town and was able to get a same day appointment without issue. I only waited about 5 minutes after arriving and all the staff, nurse and doctor were kind and very helpful. My prescriptions were send to the correct location and ready for pick up in an hour. Overall excellent experience. Would definitely recommend.

Urgent care
Beth was fantastic, she was thorough, answered all my questions and had great tips too! I would definitely come here again for my son’s health. However, I was speechless with how the medical assistant roughly administered medicine to my infant son. The medical assistant grabbed my son’s face, squeezed it, and squirted antibiotics into him mouth and with the last pump, they squirted it all in even though it was getting to the point of overflowing out of his mouth. Once I held him upright, he immediately spit it back out. I’m not a medical professional, so I can’t say whether this is standard of care, but I was concerned by their handling of him.

I am from out of state visiting in the area. I chose this facility from reading the reviews and roughly knew the area of the location. I made an online appointment. From the moment I walked into the facility, being seen and treated, I have nothing but praise and respect for the staff as well as the care I received. I’m this day and age and just visiting with having an unfortunate reason to be seen/treated I was completely satisfied. A little more pricey than I expected but what can I say? Thank you just the same for your professionalism.

The online scheduling was easy with the time slot availability shown. The hour is great, open later than others in the area, avoided going to ER. I arrived & check-in was smooth & no wait. Aria looked over my wound & stitch up the cut, & the support staff was friendly & professional. I barely felt it during the process, & she periodically reminded me if too painful, she can numb more. Great facility!

Melanie went out of her way to accommodate my husband and me when we came in to get Covid tests. Due to our unforeseen scheduling error, we didn't have an appointment at that time, but she said we could wait in case she could fit us in between patients, even though they were fully booked. She was able to complete our tests quickly and courteously. We were extremely pleased with the care we received. Thanks, Melanie!

Urgent care
After visiting Carbon about 10 days ago for an ear canal that was clogged with wax, my symptoms returned (ear pain, moist discharge from the ear canal.) So, unable to get an appointment with my PCP, I scheduled an appointment at Carbon. This time a different doctor saw me. As soon as she entered the room and asked me what was going on and learned that I had been using carbon oxide drops to try and re-clear my ear, she berated me and told me that I should not do that. She berated me over and over, like I was a stupid person, which put me off guard and had the effect of shutting me up. Then she looked in my ears and pronounced me to be healthy… nothing wrong. It felt like she wanted to be done with me. I told her that I had pain in my ear (to which she interrupted “take Advil”) and that every morning I woke up with a moist and slightly not nice smelling moist discharge coming from my ear. I asked if this is something that could be solved with antibiotics or steroids. She said she could give me prednisone “if I wanted” as if I would be the one to make the prescribing decision. Then I told her about the discharge and she said that she could give me some antibiotic drops, and that I should take Guifenesen. The doctor made very little effort to understand my issue and symptoms, and she had a pretty awful bedside manner. I would not want to see this doctor again. I left having zero sense of resolution, and zero confidence in the treatment plan she gave me. I guess I will try to see my PCP or go to an ENT. This was an awful waste of time and money. She prescribed antibiotic ear drops, and did not prescribe the prednisone.

Urgent care
Waited over 30 minutes after my appointment time to be seen. Staff was friendly all around but some seemed very new and inexperienced, and instructions were unclear sometimes. Gave me a preliminary diagnosis but only told me my final diagnosis as I was literally walking out. Never followed up or shared anything formal with next steps with this updated diagnosis. Appreciated the upfront pricing, though and they were nice.

Urgent care in Portola Valley, CA

Portola Valley is a small affluent town of about 4,500 in San Mateo County, tucked into the Santa Cruz Mountain foothills west of Stanford University. There is no urgent care in town; residents access same-day care through Stanford Health Care, Sutter, and Sequoia networks in Menlo Park, Palo Alto, and Redwood City. For broader options, see urgent care in San Francisco.

For most patients, the question "where do I go?" comes down to acuity, time of day, and what's covered by their plan. Solv aggregates real-time availability across area clinics so you can compare wait time, hours, accepted insurance, and patient ratings before booking. Most appointments can be reserved in under two minutes, and many clinics confirm within seconds. If you're booking on behalf of a child or older adult, look for clinics that specifically list pediatric or geriatric experience in their profile.

What services do urgent care clinics near portola valley offer?

Walk-in clinics serving the Portola Valley area handle minor injuries, lacerations, sprains, infections, asthma flares, UTIs, and same-day adult and pediatric care. Stanford Health Care anchors the regional network with multiple urgent care locations and a Level I trauma center, with Sutter Health and Sequoia Hospital providing additional access points across the Peninsula.2 On-site X-ray, lab, and EKG capability are standard at most clinic locations. Sports and trail injuries from the surrounding open space preserves drive a meaningful share of acute volume.

Frequent visit reasons across Bay Area urgent care clinics include strep and flu testing, COVID-19 testing, sinus and ear infections, pink eye, urinary tract infections, minor burns and lacerations, fractures and dislocations needing X-ray, and acute back, neck, or joint pain. Many clinics also offer pre-employment screens, TB testing, immunizations, and travel medicine. Online booking via Solv typically reduces wait times to under 15 minutes for the first available appointment, helpful for working professionals trying to fit care into a busy schedule.

Does urgent care near portola valley accept Medi-Cal?

Yes. Medi-Cal — California's Medicaid program — is accepted at most San Mateo County urgent care providers.1 County-level Medi-Cal managed care is delivered through Health Plan of San Mateo (HPSM), which contracts with Stanford, Sutter, Sequoia, and most independent walk-in providers.3 Although Portola Valley itself is a high-income, mostly commercially-insured community, the surrounding Peninsula has significant Medi-Cal volume; bring your BIC card and HPSM ID at check-in. Stanford also accepts Medi-Cal for many services through its network.

Most clinics will run insurance verification at the time of booking when you reserve through Solv, so you'll know coverage and copay expectations before you arrive. If you're uninsured, ask at booking about self-pay rates — many clinics publish flat-fee pricing for common visit reasons (strep test, UTI evaluation, simple laceration repair) that's competitive with paying out-of-pocket through a high-deductible plan.

How does portola valley urgent care relate to san francisco?

Portola Valley is roughly 35 miles south of San Francisco on the mid-Peninsula — about 45–60 minutes via I-280. The U.S. Census Bureau lists the town's population at approximately 4,500.4 Portola Valley sits in Stanford's medical service area, and most residents default to Stanford-affiliated providers for urgent care and specialty care. For metro-wide options, see urgent care in San Francisco.

For most non-emergency same-day needs, staying close to home is faster and more convenient than driving into the metro core.
