Urgent care
Scheduled an appointment but still had to wait for about an hour until I was seen. Also, the music that was playing at the front desk is fun while listening outside of a medical office but not for patients that don't feel well. It was loud and not the least bit relaxing.

The nurse practitioner that took care of me was top notch in professionalism. She gave me literature on the problem I came in for which was so helpful. I would highly recommend this location. Urgent care
Got a text that I was ready to be seen so I came to the clinic but then waited an hour to be seen. They refused to do most accurate testing (vaginal swab for gonorrhea and chlamydia testing in women… they said urine was the only option which is not standard of care for women and has many false negatives). No clinic has ever refused to do GC/CM swab for testing. Just so odd to me. They seemed agitated that I even asked. I’m an ER PA with 10 years experience who tests others for STIs all the time, so why would they not practice evidence-based medicine at AFC?

Urgent care in Solana Beach, CA

Solana Beach is a small coastal city in San Diego's North County, between Del Mar and Encinitas. Most urgent care needs are handled in the immediate coastal corridor where Scripps and other major systems operate. For broader options, see urgent care in San Diego.

What services do urgent care clinics in Solana Beach offer?

Scripps Health, UC San Diego Health, and Sharp HealthCare all operate urgent care or walk-in clinics in coastal North County.2 Local urgent care commonly handles surf-related lacerations, sunburns, sprained ankles, respiratory illness, and pediatric same-day visits. Most clinics offer x-ray and basic on-site lab.

Most clinics also offer DOT and sports physicals, allergy treatment, STI testing, and travel medicine. What urgent care typically does not handle: active heart attack or stroke symptoms, severe trauma, complicated childbirth, or psychiatric emergencies — those need an ER. Most Solana Beach-area clinics post wait times online and accept walk-ins, though booking ahead through Solv typically gets you in faster and lets you complete paperwork before you arrive.

Typical visit length is 30 to 90 minutes from check-in to discharge, depending on whether x-ray, lab work, or a procedure (laceration repair, splinting) is needed. Most clinics in the Solana Beach area are open 7 days a week, with extended evening and weekend hours. Some operate as 24/7 urgent care or freestanding ERs — those are clearly labeled in the booking tool above so you can pick based on hours and acuity.

Does urgent care in Solana Beach accept Medi-Cal?

Yes — most Solana Beach urgent care clinics accept Medi-Cal, California's Medicaid program administered by the Department of Health Care Services.1 In San Diego County, Medi-Cal managed care runs through plans including Community Health Group, Molina, and Blue Shield Promise. KFF state data shows substantial Medi-Cal enrollment in San Diego County.3 Confirm plan in-network status before booking.

Medi-Cal covers urgent care visits, basic labs, x-ray, prescription medications ordered during the visit, and follow-up referrals. Patients typically have no copay at the point of care for managed-care visits. If your Medi-Cal plan has not been activated or if the clinic is out-of-network with your specific managed care plan, you may be asked to pay self-pay rates and seek reimbursement. The clinic’s front desk can verify eligibility in real time before you’re seen.

For commercial insurance, most local clinics participate with the major PPO and HMO carriers and process insurance at the point of care. Bring your current insurance card and a photo ID. If you’re uninsured, ask about self-pay rates up front — many clinics publish flat self-pay pricing that’s far lower than an ER visit. HSA and FSA cards are accepted at most clinics for the patient-responsibility portion of the visit.

How does Solana Beach urgent care relate to San Diego?

Solana Beach has roughly 13,000 residents per the U.S. Census Bureau,4 making it one of the smaller coastal North County cities. The city sits 22 miles north of downtown San Diego along the 5. Many residents also use clinics in adjacent Encinitas, Del Mar, and Carmel Valley for after-hours and specialty care.

For most non-emergency same-day issues, staying local in Solana Beach is faster and cheaper than driving to a San Diego ER. Reserve the ER for true emergencies. If a clinic in Solana Beach can’t see you, the booking tool above will surface the next-soonest availability across nearby cities — often within a 10–15 minute drive.
