My husband & I tested positive for COVID this AM. We both were able to very conveniently make online appointments for medical evaluations within 30 minutes of our requests. The UC Village-Albany Urgent Care clinic is modern and attractive with highly efficient, very welcoming, friendly, professional & personable administrative and medical staffs. All of the medical personnel have very kind and empathetic bedside manners and listened very well to (and heard!) and were responsive to our medical concerns and questions. We both were in and out of our appointments within 30 minutes. We are very appreciative and truly grateful to have your clinic so conveniently located near our home. Please keep up the great work!

Wait time was good, got in at 1:40pm for my 1:30pm appointment. Staff was friendly and explained things to me. I did kind of get the impression that they were tired of me because I was trying to ask clarifying questions to make sure that later on I will not be thinking about the questions I was afraid to ask :P. Itโ€™s very easy for me to just accept what Iโ€™m told, and not ask anything, but Iโ€™m trying to learn to advocate for myself because it seems like thatโ€™s what is needed in healthcare. But I could tell they were definitely getting tired of me asking my dumb questions and just repeating answers they already gave because I was obviously didnโ€™t hear it the first time. I probably need to work on my communication skills because I donโ€™t feel like either of us felt like we were getting through to the other person. It felt like we both felt like we knew what the other person was saying and that they just werenโ€™t willing to hear it.

The online scheduling was easy with the time slot availability shown. The hour is great, open later than others in the area, avoided going to ER. I arrived & check-in was smooth & no wait. Aria looked over my wound & stitch up the cut, & the support staff was friendly & professional. I barely felt it during the process, & she periodically reminded me if too painful, she can numb more. Great facility!

Juan, the medical assistant was good and receptive. The PA who saw me was also good but I just didn't agree with her recommendations. She was gracious to accept my opinion and she maintained her professionalism despite my disagreement. She did tell me that she was putting me on dexamethasone but forgot to explain the dosage; and also antibiotic but I already know what to do with the antibiotic. I thought the prednisone was a little high--40 mg everyday for seven days. It may be a good dose but for me, it gives me quiver and crave for food that's the reason why I was hesitant to take it. She did offer me to be nebulizer but I said I'll do it at home.

This place is a hidden gem! I always try and avoid urgent care places as itโ€™s usually a long wait, lots of people, not the cleanest and just difficult. But here, once I arrived the check in was seamless, the staff was friendly, the office very clean. And to top it off my doctor spent so much time with me ane was kind and listened. Highly recommend!

Melanie went out of her way to accommodate my husband and me when we came in to get Covid tests. Due to our unforeseen scheduling error, we didn't have an appointment at that time, but she said we could wait in case she could fit us in between patients, even though they were fully booked. She was able to complete our tests quickly and courteously. We were extremely pleased with the care we received. Thanks, Melanie!

I was from out of town and was able to get a same day appointment without issue. I only waited about 5 minutes after arriving and all the staff, nurse and doctor were kind and very helpful. My prescriptions were send to the correct location and ready for pick up in an hour. Overall excellent experience. Would definitely recommend.

Great first experience. The only issue I have is that no one there answers the phone. We got a prescription sent to a pharmacy (our standard one) and the pharmacy didnโ€™t have it in stock. Because carbon health does not answer the phone, where I could have had them submit the scrip to a new pharmacy, I needed to be the middle person on a wild goose chase between the pharmacy that didnโ€™t have the medication and one that did. This is a very stressful position to be in as a parent with a very sick kid who desperately needs medicine. Other than that one component, I was happy with the experience. I reflected my disappointment under โ€œstaff friendlinessโ€, as I wasnโ€™t sure where else to put it. Staff wasnโ€™t unfriendly, they just didnโ€™t answer the phone.

My experience was fine in office but the billing department has inaccurately billed me for equipment and reaching the billing department to make corrections has been terrible. They do not answer their phone and you are placed on hold and nobody answers. The billing error was significant.

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

According to the CDC, anyone who has been exposed to the hepatitis virus, has had sexual contact with an infected person, or has shared needles with an infected person should get tested. Those who have traveled to countries with high rates of hepatitis, or have been born to a mother with hepatitis should also consider testing. It's important to note that hepatitis often shows no symptoms, making regular testing crucial for at-risk individuals.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial as it can lead to serious health complications if left untreated, including liver damage, cirrhosis, and liver cancer. Early detection allows for effective treatment and can prevent the spread of the virus to others. It's also important for pregnant women to get tested, as hepatitis can be passed from mother to child during childbirth.

Hepatitis testing options in Orinda, CA:

Orinda residents have access to several urgent care and walk-in clinics for hepatitis testing. For instance, CityHealth in nearby Oakland offers highly rated services with a short wait time. Additionally, Solv allows you to book same-day and next-day testing appointments at these clinics.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers in Orinda and surrounding cities like Lafayette and Moraga also offer hepatitis testing. It's often a good idea to discuss testing with your primary care provider, who knows your health history and can provide personalized advice.

Free STD testing and community health centers

There are also free STD testing and community health centers in the area, such as Carbon Health in Berkeley. These centers provide accessible testing options, particularly for individuals without commercial insurance.

At-home testing

At-home testing options are also available, providing a private and convenient way to get tested for hepatitis. These tests can be ordered online and typically involve a simple blood or saliva sample.

Prevalence of hepatitis in Orinda

While exact case counts for Orinda are not readily available, Contra Costa County, where Orinda is located, has seen a steady rate of hepatitis cases in recent years, according to the CDC. This rate is comparable to those in nearby counties such as San Mateo and Tuolumne.

Risk factors related to hepatitis in Orinda

Risk factors for hepatitis in Orinda are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include unprotected sex, sharing needles, and having close contact with an infected person. Travel to areas with high rates of hepatitis is also a risk factor.

Other STDs in Orinda

In addition to hepatitis, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis are also present in Orinda and surrounding areas. Like hepatitis, these STDs often show no symptoms and regular testing is recommended for at-risk individuals. Testing for these STDs can often be done at the same locations as hepatitis testing.
