Sparkling Clean

Bellaire General ER, Tele-Health - 5302 Bellaire Blvd
Couldn’t take it anymore and had no energy to make it into an urgent care or my PCP.. was able to schedule a Tele-Health appt in a matter of minutes . The doctor listened to my concerns and quickly assessed the situation and was getting meds for me quickly so I can try to get rest with this persistent cough . Thank you!  Seamless process and Solv already had my paperwork in file so even easier

I walked in today and was immediately greeted. The staff was so amazing. They were kind and efficient and didn't rush me when I had questions. Really appreciate NP Colleen and the sweetest medical assistant I've ever met - didn't catch her name, she was young and had braces. They both need a raise asap!

Super fast, CLEAN, and amazing doctors, nurses and staff. I booked our child’s appointment through solv website, but even though we had a set time, they worked us in according to how many patients were there. We are self pay so the cost was what I expected, but not outrageous. The check in was super easy, I did it from my phone right after we parked. I totally recommend this facility for any child minor emergency. Our pediatrician actually recommended us to come here and I wouldn’t doubt the quality of care especially if our established practice is recommending. OUTSTANDING!!! Thank you so much for your amazing care for our child!♥️

Very quick experience being seen by nurse and then Doctor. Rapid flu test run, which was negative and good instructions by MD about medications to take. Probably at facility an hour at most. Facility was very tidy and clean. Personnel helpful, physician, Dr Elizabeth Vasser, professional and really listened to symptoms. Would recommend as Urgent Care facility. They took my insurance and I paid a 50.00 co-pay. Was seen on a Sunday morning as a walk-in.

My son has autism and usually struggles with urgent care visits. This office made the effort to connect with him from the office secretary, RN and provider. When he was becoming a little agitated, the secretary took us on a tour to look at all the animal paintings in the clinic. This small gesture of kindness was deeply appreciated.

Getting Urgent Care in Austin, TX

What is urgent care?

Urgent care is a category of walk-in clinic focused on the delivery of immediate, non-life-threatening care. These centers bridge the gap between primary care doctors and hospital emergency rooms, offering increased convenience and cost-effectiveness. Urgent care centers provide treatment for injuries or illnesses requiring immediate care, but not severe enough to require an ER visit. They are typically open after normal business hours, including evenings and weekends, making them an excellent choice for those who need care outside of regular clinic hours.

Common services and reasons for visit

Urgent care centers offer a wide range of services, covering most common health issues. They can treat a variety of conditions and perform many different types of procedures. Here are some common reasons why people visit urgent care:

  • Minor fractures, sprains and strains: Urgent care centers can diagnose and treat non-life-threatening injuries such as minor fractures, sprains and strains.

  • Respiratory infections: This includes conditions like colds, flu, bronchitis and pneumonia.

  • Skin conditions: Urgent care can treat a variety of skin conditions, including rashes, poison ivy, and minor burns or cuts.

  • Diagnostic services: Many urgent care centers offer on-site diagnostic services, including X-rays and laboratory tests.

  • Preventive care: Some urgent care centers offer preventive care services, such as vaccinations and health screenings.

Types of healthcare providers

Urgent care centers are staffed by a variety of healthcare professionals, each with their own role and level of expertise. Here are some of the types of providers you might encounter at an urgent care center:

  • Physicians: These are medical doctors (MDs) or doctors of osteopathy (DOs) who have completed medical school and residency training. They diagnose and treat illnesses, prescribe medication, and may perform minor procedures.

  • Nurse Practitioners (NPs): NPs are registered nurses with advanced training, often holding a master's or doctoral degree in nursing. They can diagnose and treat illnesses, prescribe medication, and may perform certain procedures.

  • Physician Assistants (PAs): PAs are medical professionals who work under the supervision of a physician. They can diagnose and treat illnesses, prescribe medication, and may assist in procedures.

  • Registered Nurses (RNs): RNs provide direct patient care, assist with procedures, administer medication, and coordinate care with other healthcare professionals.

  • Medical Assistants (MAs): MAs perform a variety of tasks, including taking vital signs, assisting with procedures, and managing patient records.

When to go to an urgent care

Urgent care centers are designed to provide immediate, non-life-threatening healthcare services. They are an excellent option when you need prompt medical attention but cannot wait for an appointment with your primary care physician. Some common reasons to visit an urgent care center in Austin include minor fractures, sprains, burns, cuts requiring stitches, severe cold or flu symptoms, urinary tract infections, and allergic reactions. Urgent care centers are also equipped to provide diagnostic services like X-rays and laboratory tests.

Urgent care vs emergency room (ER)

While both urgent care centers and emergency rooms provide immediate care, they are intended for different severity levels of health issues. Emergency rooms are equipped to handle life-threatening emergencies such as heart attacks, strokes, severe bleeding, or head trauma. In contrast, urgent care centers are designed for non-life-threatening situations that still require prompt attention. Urgent care centers typically have shorter wait times and lower costs than ERs. However, if you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, you should always call 911 or go to the nearest ER.

Urgent care vs primary care

Primary care physicians are your go-to for routine check-ups, preventive care, and managing chronic conditions. They know your health history and can provide personalized, ongoing care. However, they may not be available for immediate needs or after-hours care. Urgent care centers fill this gap by offering care for acute illnesses or injuries that can’t wait for a scheduled doctor’s appointment but aren’t severe enough for the ER. While urgent care centers can provide immediate care, they are not a replacement for a relationship with a primary care provider.

Urgent care vs retail clinic

Retail clinics, often found in pharmacies or supermarkets, provide care for simple, non-urgent conditions like minor infections, skin conditions, or preventive services like vaccinations. They are typically staffed by nurse practitioners or physician assistants. Urgent care centers, on the other hand, can handle more complex conditions, have broader hours, and typically have a physician on-site. They can treat a wider range of conditions and provide more advanced services like X-rays or stitches. While both can offer convenient care, the choice between a retail clinic and an urgent care center will depend on the severity and complexity of your health issue.

Preparing for Your Visit

Before heading to the urgent care center, there are a few steps you can take to ensure a successful visit. First, make sure to bring a valid ID and your insurance card. If you have any relevant medical records or a list of medications you're currently taking, bring those as well. It's also a good idea to prepare a list of questions or concerns you may have about your health condition. This will help you make the most of your time with the healthcare provider.

During Your Visit

During your visit, you'll first check-in at the reception where you'll present your ID and insurance card. You'll then be asked to fill out some paperwork regarding your medical history and current symptoms. After this, you'll be seen by a healthcare provider who will assess your condition, provide treatment, and answer any questions you may have. It's important to be open and honest about your symptoms to ensure you receive the most effective care.

Follow-up Care and Communication

After your visit, you may need to schedule a follow-up appointment depending on your condition. The healthcare provider will communicate any necessary next steps and provide you with any relevant prescriptions or instructions for at-home care. You can also expect a call or email from the urgent care center to check on your recovery.

Cost and Insurance Details

The cost of an urgent care visit can vary depending on the services provided. However, the average out-of-pocket cost ranges from $71 to $125 for basic care. Additional services like shots, x-rays, and labs may come with extra costs. To put this in perspective, a comparable visit to an emergency room averages around $1,318. Most urgent care centers accept insurance, including commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid, which can significantly reduce these costs.

Urgent care are available to assist patients that are looking for immediate, convenient medical care. In that manner, they are similar to an emergency room. The difference, however, is that ERs are meant to treat major, life-threatening injuries and illnesses while urgent care centers manage life’s minor bruises and bumps. In simple terms, an urgent care is seen as a walk-in health center that focuses in offering non-emergent health care conditions, including the treatment of the typical illnesses and injuries such as fractures and sprains, cuts and burns, scrapes, stings and bites, flu and cold symptoms, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, and much more. Most urgent care facilities offer both diagnostic and preventive care such as well visits, immunizations, STD testing and annual physicals. For regular visits and check-ups on these clinics, you should expect to pay between $20 and $100. The good thing is that most urgent care clinics will accept major PPOs and insurance cover, Medicare, as well as self-pay in the form of credit cards or cash. Urgent care clinics are located in most parts of the country in various regions to offset emergency room visits and provide a gap in healthcare services. They take patients during all hours of operations, which offer a significant convenience to most people who have and continue to undergo the need for sudden and immediate medical attention.

Recent Urgent Care Reviews (20)

I waited for 6 hours at Texas childrens urgent care with my toddler who had 104.2 fever so I decided to try here. Got in very quick even when they was busy and very nice. The only problem which was very stressful is that I had my husband and me with our sick 2 year old and 5 month old. They told me 1 parent per room but I couldn’t handle both babies by myself so they split us up. My 2 year old was screaming for me but COVID protocol they couldn’t put us together. It was stressful not being in the same room together and having to hold my baby down so the doctor can check him. The doctor didn’t understand why they didn’t put us together as well. I made it clear to every nurse and staff I saw that I had both kids there and had to run back and forth to try to help my husband and my baby. They was really nice and professional but it made it a hassle and Texas childrens didn’t have a problem with us being in the same room. Just didn’t want to wait for 6 hours to be seen.

I have 2 toddlers go to the daycare and when 1 get sick then the other one will be next. That’s why my kids are their regular patients as they get sick all time. I usually booked the appointment but then one time I was told “first come first serve, appointment was just for the paperwork”. Ok fine, next time I walked in with no appointment and was told “no walk in accepted, appointment only”. I was so confused as what to do because the management kept on changing their mind. My kid was sick I couldnt wait until tomorrow so I left to another urgent care that day. Tonight, I made an appointment, as I walked in the receptionist already knew by confirmed the name. She was quickly get us a room. The nurses were very thorough and professional. When the dr walked in; I was so happy and felt so lucky when I saw that was Dr Jeannie Huynh. She is the reason why I came back to this place after many issues we had. She always explained the cause and then the treatment so clearly. She always gave the correct diagnosis. I wish they have her as a regular dr at this location.

Wish the Doctor would have done more I took my son sick she tested him for flu cake back negative, my son ended up still sick 2 days later so I take him to our Doctor and they tested him for flu and strep, it came back that he had both! They never tested him for strep he did have it when we went to the urgent care but the Doctor there said his throat looked fine when in fact it wasn’t, he said it was hurting! She was also questioning about my thermometer if it was working because my son’s temperature was to high because it came back he didn’t have the flu! Well like I said maybe they should have tested him for strep and they would know why his temperature was high but they didn’t! We waited for almost two hours for nothing. I will be going back in the future but hoping it will be another Doctor

First of all, it is very helpful and really streamlines the process to be able to do all paperwork, history, and download insurance card the day before the appointment online. That probably cuts out a good 20 mins or more of time. Then because of covid, they are seeing patients in our vehicles in a designated area in the back of the parking lot. It’s an organized, quick process. The nurse practitioner Beth came out on time, was very friendly, thorough & informative. The process only took about 15 mins including assessment and nasal swab for covid test. And she called me within 20-25 mins later with the result. Yes I was pleased and impressed. I will go back there if urgent care needed again. And yes I would absolutely recommend this clinic to anyone. Booked my appointment online on the urgent care website. They did not charge me at all. Not even the urgent care co-pay of $10. I’m guessing they will bill me after they file on my insurance.

Very good, best of any urgent care that I have been to.

The wait time was short and they accepted my insurance. I found out that you can also set an appointment online through Solv in advance. Staff was very friendly and very helpful. The building is decorated really cute and is very clean. I saw Dr. Jagannath she is wonderful. It’s my second time seeing her and I have to say she cares about her patients and takes her time to talk to you. She gave me exactly what I needed to get better and answered all my questions. This is the best urgent care near me. Every time I can’t get a doctor’s appointment and I don’t feel good that’s the best place to go to. They are always full because they are professional and efficient. It’s worth the wait time because your health issues get solved at any time of the day even on the weekends. The nurses are always very sweet and the front desk ladies are fast, and very professional. Thank you very much NextCare UC Staff you are a blessing to us.

Urgent Care is a place I now choose fire my medical needs. The girls out front are sweet and get their job done! Harris is not only professional, but caring and understanding with her patients. She is knowledgeable and has helped me n family when we seek medical attention. I went to the facility on Monday, November 23. They were busy and Harris was not in that day. There was a male NP attending patients. I did not get his name. Well I really didn’t think I got the medical attention I was looking for. He was rushing, I am post Covid so my voice is not normal, I shake and my oxygen levels drop when I do things. He looked frustrated. I wasn’t even given chance to tell him what all was wrong with me. He did take chest X-ray. Then proceeded in sending me to the ER, where I waited 3.5 hours while people with Covid and lord knows what where walking in and some had no mask. So I walked out, did not want to go through that illness again. I just felt like he didn’t want to deal with me so passed me on. I know my lungs are weak and need oxygen at home... I was in tuba Ted 15 days in icu and spent time in rehabilitation hospital to walk and talk again! Why not just get me some oxygen to go home ? Anyway, Now I’ll be suffering until After Thanksgiving! I’ve always told my staff.. off you do not love what you do, then go find it!

This was our first experience at this pedi urgent care and I was very impressed. The staff was incredible and so accommodating to us. Our 6 yr old came in with strep symptoms and was in a lot of pain and discomfort. They accommodated her immediately to ensure she was comfortable while we waited our turn. Even letting her lay down in a vacant room while we waited. They checked on us periodically to let us know where we stood in line and talked so kindly to both of us. Best urgent care experience by far. I have 2 suggestions - 1. Since it’s a pedi focused urgent care it would be lovely to have bright and colorful decor surrounding us while we waited. The walls were completely bare and beige. Something simple like color and bright pictures but can really change a mood. 2. Instead of offering a sucker at the end (with the stickers - thank you) offer brave little boys and girls a toy. I understand the reason to reward them but if their immune system is already compromised it’s not a good idea to introduce high fructose corn syrup, sugar and dyes into their system that’s already fighting. A silly cheap toy would be just as rewarding without being detrimental. The stickers were great though and definitely made her smile!! Overall- really positive experience!!

I went in with a dog bite to my hand. It was a deep puncture. I was in so much pain. They cleaned my hand ,took X-rays and put a splint on it. I had a Tetanus shot as well. They were so compassionate, kind and thorough. My appointment was at 5:45 and I was on my way home by 7 pm. I did not wait at all to see the medical staff. I was prescribed antibiotics and Motrin and this morning, I woke pain free. I am so grateful to the entire wonderful staff. I just cannot day enough good things about this place. I recommend it highly. This is where I’ll be coming from now on. I had called several other places before this and the other places wanted me to report my dog , they told me I’d have an extremely long wait and then my husband called Southwest Urgent Care. What a wonderful difference! I felt at ease immediately and they took such good care of me. I am beyond satisfied with their service. They are extremely knowledgeable, professional, yet friendly, kind and patient . One of the best experiences I have ever had at a clinic. I may be gushing, but they certainly deserve accolades!! Thank you so much from a very satisfied and happy patient.

Hello, this was my first visit to Fast Aid. My experience was that everything was top notch, other than one minor glitch The the x-ray report was given to me on a dvd-r. My laptop is able to read disks, however it wasn't able to read this one. So I wasn't able to follow up with my PCP later that afternoon. Even if I was able to read the disk it is an older technology that isn't used nearly as much as it used to. It seems like they might want to look into better ways to share information. But it was really no big deal and didn't taint an otherwise pleasant visit. This isn't me complaining, merely providing constructive feedback. Again I will say that overall I was pleased with the services provided. Anyway I am hoping the good service continues, so I know I'll have a place to go for urgent care. To me this was so much easier and faster than trying to get in to see my PCP. It wasn't an emergency so it didn't make sense to me to go to an ER. Fast Aid seems to me to be this go between. It's a great idea. Sort of like the difference between going to the Walgreen's around the corner instead of having to drive all the way across town to go to the grocery store, just to get one or two items real quick. This location is super convenient for me too. Glad they're in town now. Thanks!

Waited a bit after being admitted but there were obvious more urgent patients that needed immediate cate. Staff was friendly and thorough; made an effort to make sure I understood what was happening and next steps for my busted big toe. Showed me how to wrap it up properly and gave some guidance on activity levels and healing time. Sent xrays and a report (unlike other urgent cares) home with me for follow up care needs. The nurse was great! Kept the mood light despite my pain level and frustration with having to be there in the first place. He was able to make much needed candid conversation in the stressful situation and took the time to show his true care for my wellbeing. Incredibly refreshing for an urgent care clinic. The kind lady at check in also took the time to explain that PrimaCare also works with VA benefits - being a future mil spouse this is new knowledge and I am forever grateful for her explaining how and what plans they work with. Having to go to an urgent care isn’t a great experience to begin with, but this is the best urgent care experience I’ve had in years!

Always love coming to Aggieland for our family tailgate. Unfortunately, I tripped and fell face first on the rocks. We immediately loaded up and headed to the Urgent Care. We walked in and we’re immediately greeted and given paperwork that was made to be quick and simple. The nurse was waiting for me to sign and took me back immediately. PA Taylor came in and took a look and agreed stitches were going to be needed. He ensured that everything was appropriately numb and throughly cleaned my wound. He was concerned with getting stuff all over me when he started cleaning. He took great care to block my face so he could irrigate the wound well. He did a fantastic job with the sutures and I was up and outta there in no time. This team was awesome and ensured that I was taken care of and back at my tailgate in less than an hour and half. Can’t beat that! Thank you to the team for taking great care of me.

I reported to the front desk and told them I had an appointment to be tested at 7 pm. I was told to wait outside and I would receive a text when they were ready to see me. On the website I saw where I could fill out some paperwork which I did. The front desk came out to get me and asked for my paperwork. I told them that I had filled it out on line. The young lady said”ok, we’ll just need some initials.” I was led to a room where I was given copies of the paperwork I had already filled out on line with “x”s for my initials. I went ahead and initialed each “x”. The nurse came in, took the paperwork from me and told me, “But you didn’t fill out the rest of the information.” By this time I was more than frustrated with the whole situation and the nurse sensed it. She offered to finish filling out the paperwork. I would like to mention that this was none of her doing. The rest of my experience was actually very good. This is the second time we use this urgent care clinic and will probably use it in the future. Just need more attention at the front desk.
